Abstract

The 21st-century learning has undergone a paradigm shift in education from teacher-centered to student-centered. It recently emphasises students' critical and creative thinking abilities, effective communication, innovation, problem-solving, and collaboration. This study examined the Ricosre model's effectiveness with the Question Formulation Technique (QFT) in enhancing students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and science literacy. It involved 296 fifth-grade students from three selected state elementary schools, chosen through cluster random sampling. Each group consisted of 148 students divided into control and experimental groups. Data were collected through multiple-choice and essay instruments and subsequently analysed using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). The research variables were students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and science literacy. The results indicated that the Ricosre model with QFT effectively improves students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and science literacy, as it encouraged active participation during the learning process, trained students to develop questioning skills, find answers, analyse, share ideas, and draw conclusions. Thus, it can foster curiosity and metacognitive abilities among students.

Abstract

This research aims to examine ethnoscience in biology learning on the reproductive system. The research method is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type of research with pre-test and post-test applied and grouped into three categories of high, medium and low. The research was carried out at the Darussalam State Madrasah Aliyah Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh. The research results show that there has been an increase in students' understanding and abilities which can be seen from the increase in post-test results. Ethnoscience on the reproductive system can be studied from a series of cultural practices from the process of pregnancy to birth. Students can connect scientific science with real science in their environment. Students can also appreciate and preserve local community knowledge related to reproductive system material. So it can be concluded that ethnoscience learning can enrich students' experiences by introducing local wisdom and cultural diversity that exists in society.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate how the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program is implemented in Higher Education. The learning process in Indonesia is currently no longer limited to the classroom or formal academic environment. The acquisition of knowledge and skills obtained for the community can be through work experience, training, and non-formal activities. The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program is designed to recognize and validate knowledge and skills obtained outside of formal education, by providing academic credits equivalent to the results of learning in the classroom. RPL serves as an important bridge for students to utilize their experiences and accelerate the completion of studies in higher education. This research method is descriptive-quantitative with 73 students as research subjects. The results showed that this RPL program received a positive response and became the choice of students in continuing their studies. Regarding the stages of the RPL program learning activities, 66.7% of newly registered students strongly agreed and 33.3% agreed that the learning activities encouraged students' curiosity because the material studied was linear with their field of work. Regarding the benefits of the RPL program, 84.2% of RPL students strongly agreed and 15.8% agreed that during the RPL program they gained a lot of new experiences and knowledge that could be implemented in their work. This RPL program contributes to workers to gain access to education, improve competency, obtain a bachelor's degree and support career plans. Thus, the implementation of RPL must be guaranteed in quality so that graduates have standardized graduate achievement quality

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes in Pancasila Education among sixth-grade students at SDN Pegadungan 03 Pagi. In the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, learning models that can improve critical thinking skills and active student participation are highly needed. The Project Citizen learning model was chosen because it emphasizes collaborative, investigative, and problem-solving activities based on public issues. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Project Citizen learning model and critical thinking skills on students’ learning outcomes. The study employed a quantitative method with a 2×2 factorial quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 62 sixth-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The independent variables were the Project Citizen learning model (X1) and critical thinking skills (X2), while the dependent variable was students’ learning outcomes (Y). Data were collected through critical thinking skill questionnaires and learning outcome tests. The results showed that: (1) there was an effect of the Project Citizen learning model on learning outcomes with Fcount 13.79 > Ftable 4.08; (2) there was an effect of critical thinking skills on learning outcomes with Fcount 21.45 > Ftable 4.08; and (3) there was an interaction between the Project Citizen learning model and critical thinking skills on learning outcomes with Fcount 5.00 > Ftable 4.08. Therefore, the Project Citizen learning model was effective in improving the learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at SDN Pegadungan 03 Pagi.

Abstract

Research on project based learning includes Project Based Learning (PjBL), is a learning model that involves student in designing or creating projects that are innovative, useful in solving problems in daily life, and emphasizing contextual assessment learning. This study aims to find out whether or not there is an influence of the STEAM-based PjBL model and environmental care attitudes on students' cognitive retention in elementary school grade IV science learning. The learning model used in this study is an experimental method using a 2 x 2 factorial design design. The population of this study was 62 people, consisting of 31 students who learned using the STEAM-based PjBL model and 31 students who learned using the PjBL learning model. The research instrument was in the form of a questionnaire and multiple-choice test. The first hypothesis test using the Two-Path Anava Test was obtained with a sig value of Fcalculated > Ftable or 19.94 > 4.105, then Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted, meaning that there was an influence of the STEAM-based PjBL learning model on the cognitive retention of grade IV students of SDN Ragunan 08. The second hypothesis test using the Two-Path Anava Test obtained a value of Sig. Ftables, the value of Fcalculated > Ftable or 33.49 > 4.105, then Ho was accepted and H1 was rejected, meaning that there was no influence of environmental care on the cognitive retention ability of grade IV students of SDN Ragunan 08. The third hypothesis test using the Two-Path Anava Test obtained a value of Sig. Fcalculate < Ftable or 3.64 < 4.105, then Ho rejected and H1 accepted, meaning that there was no interaction between the STEAM-based PjBL learning model and the attitude of environmental care towards the cognitive retention ability of grade IV students at SDN Ragunan 08.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and describe the influence of learning models Project Based Learning (PjBL) on Critical Thinking Skills, the influence of Digital Literacy to Ability and there is an interaction between Project Based Learning (PjBL) with Digital Literacy. The method used is a quantitative method. The instrument used is a test. The test was given to students of SD Negeri Tomang 03 class VA and VB. The data analysis used was a two-way ANOVA test. The results of this study showed that there was an influence and significance between the influence of the learning model Project Based Learning (PjBL) on students' critical thinking skills with Fhit values ​​> Ftab 5.97> 4.14, there is a significant influence on digital literacy on students' critical thinking skills with Fhit > Ftab 33.41 > 4.14, there is no interaction between Project Based Learning (PjBL) with Digital Literacy students with Fhit < Ftab -0.27 < 4.14. Learning model Project Based Learning (PjBL) has an influence on students' critical thinking skills, so that Project Based Learning (PjBL) will contribute to students' critical thinking skills. Digital Literacy has an influence on students' critical thinking skills, so that with digital literacy which will contribute to students' thinking skills. The higher the digital literacy, the higher the students, then students' critical thinking skills will also increase.

Abstract

Learning in elementary schools still shows low levels of students’ critical thinking skills due to the dominance of teacher-centered instruction and the suboptimal use of learning media. This condition causes students to rely on memorization and limits their ability to analyze and solve contextual problems. This study aims to analyze, design, and evaluate the development of interactive learning media using Articulate Storyline integrated with Gimkit to enhance the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade elementary school students. This research employed a research and development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. The research subjects included two expert validators (a media expert and a subject-matter expert) and 21 fifth-grade students as trial participants. Data were collected through critical thinking skills tests, student response questionnaires, expert validation sheets, and teacher practicality assessment sheets. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis techniques, while quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results indicate that the Articulate Storyline learning media integrated with Gimkit demonstrated very high validity based on evaluations by media and content experts and received positive responses from students. The developed media were proven to be feasible and effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills. Overall, this study concludes that the development of HOTS-oriented interactive learning media can serve as an innovative solution to enhance the quality of learning in elementary education. The implications of this study suggest that integrating interactive media and gamification can support more contextual, meaningful, and 21st-century skills–oriented learning.

Abstract

This study examined the effects of TPACK-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) integrated with the Kenduri Blang ethnoscience on the critical thinking and collaboration skills of fifth-grade elementary school students in ecosystem learning. A quasi-experimental study using a non-equivalent control group design was conducted with 30 students, including 15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group. Data were collected using a validated critical thinking test and a collaboration observation sheet and analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent-samples t-tests. The results showed that the experimental group outperformed the control group in both critical thinking and collaboration. The mean post-test critical thinking score was 85.40 in the experimental group and 52.53 in the control group (t = 12.843, p < 0.001). Similarly, the mean collaboration score was 16.40 in the experimental group and 12.93 in the control group (t = 6.566, p < 0.001). These findings indicate that integrating TPACK, PBL, and the Kenduri Blang ethnoscience effectively promotes higher-order thinking and collaborative learning through technology-supported and culturally relevant instruction. The findings provide practical guidance for teachers and curriculum developers seeking to integrate local ethnoscience into science learning. However, the relatively small sample, single-school setting, and short intervention period may limit the generalizability of the findings. This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating the value of combining TPACK, Problem-Based Learning, and local ethnoscience within a single instructional framework for elementary science education.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the impact of the Genially-integrated Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and levels of internet accessibility on the Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) of fourth-grade students, specifically regarding the topic of energy transformation. Utilizing a quasi-experimental method with a 2 x 2 factorial design, the study analyzed the interaction between the PBL model, students' internet access (categorized as high or low), and their cognitive outcomes. Data were collected via a 40-item multiple-choice HOTS test, which was validated using the Point Biserial Correlation formula. The hypothesis testing yielded an F-value of 4.76, surpassing the F-table threshold of 4.113; consequently, the null hypothesis was rejected in favor of the alternative, confirming that Genially-assisted PBL significantly influenced students' HOTS.  The second hypothesis test resulted in an F-value of 0.01, which is smaller than the F-table value of 4.113 (0.01 < 4.113). Thus, the null hypothesis (Ho) was accepted and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was rejected, meaning that students’ internet accessibility did not significantly affect their HOTS. The third hypothesis test yielded an F-value of 1.95, which is smaller than the F-table value of 4.113 (1.95 < 4.113). Therefore, the null hypothesis ($H_0$) was accepted, while the alternative hypothesis ($H_1$) was rejected, demonstrating that there was no significant interaction between the Genially-integrated Problem-Based Learning model and the students' Higher-Order Thinking Skills.
