Abstract

This article aims to explore and analyze the implementation of the managerial values of Prophet Muhammad SAW within the framework of contemporary Islamic education management. The Prophet is recognized not only as a messenger of Allah but also as an exemplary leader and manager who successfully established a civilized society based on divine guidance and universal humanitarian values. This study adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach through a literature review of both classical and modern references, including works by George R. Terry, Imam Machali, and Mujamil Qomar. The findings indicate that the leadership principles of Prophet Muhammad SAW—such as shiddiq (truthfulness), amanah (trustworthiness), tabligh (communication), fathanah (wisdom), as well as musyawarah (consultation) and istiqamah (consistency)—greatly contribute to building effective and ethical Islamic educational leadership. These values remain highly relevant for today’s educational leadership in facing globalization, moral decline, and the challenges of digital transformation. By adopting the Prophet’s prophetic values as a managerial and educational role model, Islamic educational institutions can achieve governance that is both professional and spiritual. Therefore, mainstreaming these prophetic managerial values is a strategic necessity for navigating contemporary educational dynamics.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the managerial thinking of Muhammad Al-Fatih in the development of educational institutions through a library research approach. Muhammad Al-Fatih is known not only as a military and political leader, but also as an Islamic educational figure who has a long-term vision of civilization. This study found that Al-Fatih's managerial thinking rests on three main pillars, namely the pursuit of knowledge as a form of worship and social obligation, character development based on Islamic values such as exemplary, sincerity, and discipline, as well as the spiritual responsibility of education which is not only borne by individuals, but also becomes the duty of the state. In addition, education in Al-Fatih's leadership functioned as a geopolitical instrument, namely as a tool of diplomacy and regeneration of global-minded leaders. These values are represented in the madrasa system, integrative curriculum, and narrative approach in shaping students' characters. The results of the study show that Al-Fatih's thinking is very relevant to the challenges of modern Islamic education, especially in forming an education system that is characterized, competitive, and based on spiritual values. Therefore, Al-Fatih's managerial approach can be used as a strategic model for the development of contemporary Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the thoughts of Islamic educational management according to Imam Al-Ghazali (1058–1111 AD), with a historiographical approach. The focus of the study includes managerial components in Al-Ghazali's educational system such as objectives, curriculum, teachers, students, methods, and evaluation based on his main work Ihya' Ulum al-Din. In addition, this study analyzes the relevance of the concept in the context of contemporary education, both in Islamic educational institutions and the national education system. The results of the study show that Al-Ghazali's educational management principles (holistic, character-oriented, spirituality, gradual according to development, and continuous evaluation) are very relevant to answering modern challenges such as moral crises, the need for a character learning approach, and value-based curriculum management.
