Abstract

The Critically Endangered Cacatua sulphurea abbotti is a unique subspecies of cockatoo, endemic to a single tiny Masakambing Island in Indonesia. Data procurement on the status and distribution of their wild population is urgently needed to determine the best conservation strategy for this species. Data were collected annually from 2008–2018 using a direct roost count method in a roosting tree. Only 10 cockatoos were recorded in 2008, but the number increased to 22 birds in 2018 (a 42.86% increase in a decade). The population was distributed across about 71% of the total area of the island, concentrated in the north-western part with a density of 1.56 (~2 birds/km²) in 2008, which increased to 3.44 (~3 birds/km²) in 2018. The zero-trapping policy enforced by the local government was likely effective in preventing population decline, although the population remains vulnerable due to nesting failure, presumably low genetic quality, and habitat destruction.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of integrating YouTube-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) to enhance students’ interest in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). A quasi-experimental post-test-only control group design was employed, involving tenth-grade students at SMK Geomatika Lampung, a vocational secondary school in Indonesia. Students’ learning interest was measured using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire, and the data were analyzed through normality, homogeneity, and independent samples t-tests. The findings revealed a statistically significant difference in learning interest between students taught using YouTube-based PjBL and those taught through conventional methods (p < 0.05). The integration of project-based learning with digital video media promoted active engagement, motivation, and positive affective responses in IRE learning. However, since the study was conducted in a single vocational school context, the findings should be interpreted cautiously and may not be generalized to all vocational secondary schools without further empirical validation. Future research involving broader and more diverse samples is recommended to strengthen generalizability.

Abstract

Occupational well-being and workforce sustainability in post-pandemic healthcare systems are at risk due to increasing emotional, ethical, and workload-related stressors that nurses encounter. Workplace spirituality has also been suggested as a protective factor, but empirical research remains fragmented and insufficiently synthesized. This integrative review aimed to synthesize the recent evidence on the role of workplace spirituality in the occupational well-being of nurses. A systematic search of Scopus, MEDLINE, and Cochrane databases identified English-language quantitative studies published between 2015 and 2025. Nineteen studies met the inclusion criteria and were synthesized using Whittemore and Knafl integrative review framework, with reporting relying on PRISMA 2020. There were five themes that included i) spirituality and burnout reduction, ii) organizational commitment and retention, iii) work engagement and job satisfaction, iv) spiritual congruence and interpersonal care, and v) spiritual leadership and well-being. Most findings demonstrated moderate-to-strong associations between workplace spirituality and decreased burnout, increased engagement, and greater organizational commitment. Nevertheless, these advantages were conditional and mitigated in the conditions of overwork, insufficiency of staffing, moral tension, and insufficient organizational support. This review offers a quantitative integrative synthesis of the first nursing-specific evidence to be published after the pandemic and shows that workplace spirituality serves as a complementary resource, rather than a standalone, to occupational well-being. The findings highlight important implications of nursing policy regarding introducing spirituality-based leadership development, ethical governance, and workforce support as part of the broader structural reforms.

Abstract

Studies that specifically analyze the distribution of cognitive levels in sociology assessment instruments remain limited. This highlights the importance of research that maps the alignment of assessment instruments developed by teachers with the competency standards outlined in the curriculum. Therefore, this study aims to map the distribution of cognitive levels in senior high school sociology assessment instruments, identify emerging content trends, and analyze the relationships among the cognitive levels represented. The study employed a qualitative method with a content analysis approach. Data were collected through document analysis of 11 assessment instruments developed by 11 senior high school sociology teachers in Sleman Regency, which included both objective and essay items. The analysis process was supported by ATLAS.ti software, and the results were presented in the form of distribution tables, Sankey diagrams, and network views. The findings indicate that the test items were dominated by the C4 (analysis) level, with 99 items, suggesting a shift in assessment focus from lower-order thinking skills (LOTS) to higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), although items at the C5 level were still limited, and the C6 level had not yet been accommodated. The content trends were dominated by contextual themes such as social problems, social structure, social interaction, and social integration, which are consistent with the intended learning competencies of sociology. The analysis of inter-level cognitive relationships revealed a supportive hierarchy: C1 to C2 (is a part of), C2 to C3 (is cause of), C3 to C4 (is cause of), C4 to C5 (is associated with), and C5 to C6 (is associated with). The implications of this study can be used to develop assessment items that promote higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

Governments worldwide have adopted Artificial Intelligence (AI) in customs oper ations to enhance efficiency, increase revenue, and improve national security as a fundamental aspect of the country’s vision and mission. However, there is inefficient management and a lack of government commitment to maintaining this consistently. This indicates that global research on AI in customs is abundant, but in developing countries like Indonesia, the priority aspect remains uneven. In addition, this study applies qualitative and content analysis methods to secondary data to test issues in Indonesian customs operations. Essentially, this confirmation indicates that the con cretization of IA in customs operations could enhance administrative processes (e.g., reporting goods, collecting revenue, and reducing goods fraud). These findings un derscore the need for governments to establish regulations and comply with interna tional trade agreements to provide visibility and access to customs operations. In sum mary, this study provides a clear commitment to applying AI in customs operations, with appropriate approaches grounded in visibility and access.
