Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating technology-based applications in enhancing students’ creativity in writing short story texts among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, the research was conducted in four iterative phases: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants comprised 30 students from Class IX-9. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, interviews, and writing skill assessments via pre-tests and post-tests. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses were employed to assess changes in students’ creative writing abilities. The findings demonstrate a substantial improvement: the pre-test average score was 68.5 with a classical completeness of 60%, while the post-test average rose to 82.3 with 86.7% completeness. Qualitative data further revealed increased student motivation and engagement during writing activities. Teachers reported that the technology-based tools effectively stimulated students' imagination and helped them produce more compelling narratives. The study concludes that incorporating technology into short story writing instruction significantly fosters students’ creativity and recommends its broader application as an innovative pedagogical strategy in language learning.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in enhancing short story writing skills among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method implemented in two cycles, the research involved 30 students from Class IX-6. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and writing tests, with sources drawn from both students and teachers. The analysis combined quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. Initial findings revealed a class mastery level of only 18.3% in the pre-cycle stage. Following the implementation of the TaRL approach, mastery improved to 65.7% in the first cycle and reached 86.4% in the second cycle. These outcomes demonstrate that the TaRL method significantly improves students’ ability to write short stories by aligning instruction with their actual comprehension levels. The approach effectively facilitated idea development, understanding of narrative structure, and enhanced use of language. Furthermore, TaRL fostered greater student engagement by providing personalized and targeted instruction. The study concludes that the TaRL approach is a powerful pedagogical tool for improving creative writing competencies and should be considered for broader application in writing instruction across educational settings.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the project-based learning model in enhancing students' ability to write observational report texts in Class IX-10 at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. The research addresses the problem of students’ low proficiency in composing observational reports that meet structural and linguistic conventions. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study was conducted over two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were gathered through writing tests, classroom observations, and interviews, and analyzed using a combination of descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The participants were 29 students (13 males and 16 females). The findings indicate that the implementation of the project-based learning model led to measurable improvements in students’ writing performance. In the first cycle, students demonstrated moderate progress, while the second cycle showed significant gains, with most students surpassing the minimum competency threshold. Students also displayed increased engagement and autonomy in the learning process, alongside enhanced skills in organizing, analyzing, and reporting observations coherently. These results suggest that project-based learning fosters active learning, critical thinking, and sustained motivation, making it an effective pedagogical approach for developing writing skills, particularly in the context of observational report texts.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating Quizizz as a digital learning medium to enhance students’ mastery of structural and linguistic features in discussion texts, specifically targeting Class IX-8 students at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with both quantitative and qualitative approaches, the study involved 31 students whose learning outcomes were evaluated through formative assessments, observations, and student response questionnaires. Prior to the intervention, the average pre-test score was 86.2, with 67.7% of students scoring ?85. Following the implementation of Quizizz across learning cycles, the average post-test score rose to 92.5, with 71% scoring ?90. In the experimental setting, scores further improved to an average of 93.6, with 83.9% of students attaining ?90. Survey results revealed that 77.4% of students believed Quizizz enhanced their understanding of the material, while 90.3% appreciated its real-time feedback. The gamified elements of Quizizz—such as point systems and leaderboards—were shown to increase motivation and foster a more interactive, engaging learning experience. The findings underscore Quizizz’s potential as an effective digital tool to support academic achievement in language learning, particularly in the context of discussion text writing.

Abstract

Kemampuan penalaran, dan motivasi belajar merupakan kemampuan yang penting untuk dimiliki siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis kemampuan penalaran siswa yang menggunakan Problem Based Learning (PBL) dan Konvensional ditinjau dari motivasi belajar siswa. Selain itu di analisis korelasi antara kemampuan penalaran siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian campuran tipe embedded design. Sampel penelitian ini 70 siswa kelas X yang berasal dari dua kelas dengan masing-masing sebanyak 35 siswa pada salah satu Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri di Bandung. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah soal tes kemampuan penalaran dan angket motivasi belajar siswa, serta lembar observasi. Analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran PBL lebih baik dari pada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional; (2) motivasi belajar siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran PBL dan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional; (3) Terdapat pengaruh motivasi belajar siswa terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa

Abstract

UMKM "Kue Larut" menghadapi berbagai tantangan seperti keterbatasan alat produksi, manajemen keuangan yang belum rapi, serta pemasaran yang masih tradisional. Meskipun kue ini memiliki prospek pasar yang baik, keterbatasan kapasitas produksi menyebabkan UMKM sering kali tidak dapat memenuhi permintaan pasar. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan intervensi teknologi tepat guna, pelatihan manajemen SDM, pembukuan, serta pemasaran digital untuk meningkatkan kapasitas usaha dan memperluas jangkauan pasar. Tujuan utama program ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan kapasitas produksi, memperkenalkan inovasi produk, meningkatkan kompetensi sumber daya manusia (SDM), serta memperluas akses pasar melalui penerapan teknologi dan digitalisasi pemasaran. Secara spesifik, target peningkatan penjualan hingga 30-50% diharapkan dicapai dengan penerapan teknologi dan strategi pemasaran baru. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian yaitu: Sosialisasi Program, Pelatihan Manajemen SDM, Pelatihan Pembukuan Keuangan Sederhana, Pelatihan Digital Marketing, Penerapan Teknologi. Luaran yang dihasilkan meliputi peningkatan aset berupa mesin pengaduk adonan dan oven otomatis, peningkatan kapasitas produksi hingga 30-50%, peningkatan efisiensi produksi sebesar 30%, serta pengurangan biaya produksi sebesar 20%. Selain itu, dari segi pemasaran, diharapkan terjadi peningkatan penjualan sebesar 30-50% dengan penerapan digital marketing dan penggunaan media sosial. Luaran pada pengabdian PKM ini meliputi peningkatan produksi kue larut hingga 40-60% setelah pendampingan teknologi, peningkatan omset penjualan hingga 50%, serta bertambahnya aset usaha (mesin pengaduk dan oven). Dari sisi pemasaran, penerapan media sosial berhasil meningkatkan jumlah pelanggan, dan UMKM mulai mampu menjual produknya melalui marketplace

Abstract

Transportation within a country is becoming increasingly important due to the impact of globalization which encourages life to be more competitive. All caused by the emergence of Covid-19 which accelerated digitalization. The aim of the research is to determine the influence of studies that focus on service quality variables, social media promotions, online customer reviews on repeat purchases at PO. Rimba Raya Kabupaten Jepara. The validity and reliability tests were obtained using a Likert scale, namely an open questionnaire. This study took 167 samples, using a purposive sampling technique, using the Slovin formula as a guide. The exact population size is not known. The data analysis process uses the PLS-SEM SmartPLS version 4.0 method. The results of this research show that service quality and social media promotions do not have a significant effect, while online customer reviews have a significant effect on repeat purchases.

Abstract

The test is one of the instruments used to assess the extent of student understanding in learning. Multiple choice is a type of test commonly used in testing students. In addition to testing students' understanding, the quality of the tests used also needs to be tested. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the national mathematics test items in Baubau in the 2015/2016 academic year and the test information function with the item response theory approach. This research is an ex-post-facto study with a sample size of 574 students using a random sampling technique. Data was collected through documentation and analyzed using the LTM R package program. Findings indicated that there were four items (I1, I2, I4, and I8) for the 1-PL model, six items (I1, I2, I4, I7, I8, and I10) for the 2-PL model, and seven items (I1, I2, I3, I4, I7, I9, and I10) (3-PL) that fit the model (FM). The percentage of good (G) item parameters using R was 90% for (b) (1-PL), 90% (b) and 100% (a) (2-PL), and 90% (b), 10% (a), and 70% (c) (3-PL). The percentage of good quality items in each model for the 1-PL model was 40% or four items, the 2-PL model was 60% or six items, and the 3-PL model was 0%, or none was included in the good quality item category.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Handover pasien yang tidak optimal dapat menyebabkan kelalaian informasi, keterlambatan perawatan, dan menurunkan kepuasan pasien. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan pelaksanaan handover pasien di rumah sakit swasta. Metode: Desain penelitian deskriptif korelasi dengan pendekatan cross-sectional pada 400 responden menggunakan total sampling. Instrumen kuesioner telah diuji validitas (0,3–>0,9) dan reliabilitas (Cronbach’s Alpha 0,748–0,943). Hasil: Analisis regresi logistik menunjukkan supervisi kepala ruangan (p=0,001), fasilitas (p=0,018), standar prosedur operasional (p=0,002), dan komunikasi (p=0,001) berhubungan signifikan dengan pelaksanaan handover. Pengetahuan dan dukungan teman sejawat tidak signifikan. Kesimpulan: keberhasilan handover ditentukan oleh supervisi, fasilitas, SPO, dan komunikasi. Peningkatan mutu handover perlu difokuskan pada penguatan kepemimpinan, fasilitas, penerapan SPO, dan komunikasi efektif. Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of audio-visual learning media based on anecdotal text material for tenth-grade students at a senior high school. The research involved a population and sample of 31 students. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) design, the study utilized the Borg and Gall development model, which includes ten stages: (1) research and data collection, (2) planning and drafting, (3) preliminary field testing, (4) revision, (5) main field testing, (6) product refinement, (7) expanded field testing, (8) implementation testing, (9) final product refinement, and (10) dissemination and implementation. The results indicate that the developed audio-visual learning media is valid and feasible for instructional use. Media expert I gave a feasibility score of 85% ("highly feasible"), expert II gave 90% ("highly feasible"), material expert I gave 80% ("feasible"), and material expert II gave 85% ("feasible"). Teacher evaluation also categorized the media as "highly feasible," and student testing yielded an 88% score. These findings suggest that the audio-visual learning media developed for anecdotal text instruction is effective and appropriate for use in the classroom.
