Abstract

This study aims to describe the weaknesses of incidental voter education in improving political literacy and the integrated voter education model as a strategy for strengthening political literacy. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Informants in this study include Commissioners of the Pekanbaru City General Election Commission, Election Smart House Managers, and Pancasila and Civics Education Teachers in schools. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data in this study are explained using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that incidental education has proven ineffective in improving political welfare sustainably. Voter education in schools is generally only conducted in the lead-up to elections. Integrated voter education is a solution to prepare participatory pre-voters, possess adequate political literacy, and foster a spirit of volunteerism in safeguarding democracy through collaboration between the General Election Commission and Pancasila and Civics Education Teachers.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of interest contestation in developing civic virtue within Nagari communities, specifically focusing on Nagari Sungai Pua following the 2023 Nagari Head Election (PILWANA). Through qualitative descriptive research conducted over three months (October-December 2023), involving 25 key informants from various social elements, this study reveals how political contestation significantly influences the development of civic values in traditional communities. The findings demonstrate that interest contestation manifests in three primary dimensions: social fragmentation patterns, transformation of collective decision-making mechanisms, and reconfiguration of traditional value systems. The research identifies that post-election polarization has created complex alliance networks transcending traditional tribal boundaries, affecting both formal social structures and informal community dynamics. Furthermore, the study highlights how modernization pressures have led to the development of sophisticated filtering mechanisms in selecting and adapting new values while maintaining fundamental principles rooted in local traditions. This research contributes to understanding how traditional communities navigate the challenges of maintaining civic virtue amid contemporary political dynamics, offering insights for policy development in local governance strengthening and social cohesion enhancement. The study suggests that successful civic virtue development depends heavily on the community's ability to manage interest contestation through constructive dialogue and public deliberation, emphasizing the importance of developing inclusive strategies that bridge various stakeholder interests while preserving traditional values.

Abstract

This research aims to develop e-modules of Pancasila Education based on Project- Based Learning (PjBL) with the help of AI-Powered Interactive Content to support the strengthening of the character of high school students. The development process follows the ADDIE model which consists of the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The analysis stage was conducted through teacher interviews, student questionnaires, as well as curriculum and literature studies to identify the need for relevant teaching materials, student characteristics, and materials that support character value learning. The product was developed in the form of a flipbook-based interactive digital e-module that contains materials, collaborative project activities, QR-code learning videos, and character reflection elements. Validation was conducted by material, media, and language experts, with the results showing a very high level of validity in the aspects of content, language, and visual design. The practicality test involved three teachers and thirty students, resulting in an average score of 3.810 and 3.646 which indicated that the e-module was classified as very practical to use. The effectiveness test through pretest and posttest in the experimental class showed a significant increase in learning outcomes (p < .001), with Cohen's d of 3.393. In addition to cognitive improvement, character values such as caring, responsibility, and cooperation were also strengthened based on teacher assessment and student self-assessment. Based on these findings, the e-module is declared valid, practical, and effective as an alternative learning media that is contextual and relevant to the needs of the digital generation

Abstract

is study examines the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) with the theme Voice of Democracy at SMA DEK Padang as a vehicle for cross-curricular political education. Political education is considered crucial for shaping young citizens who are knowledgeable, critical, and participatory in democratic life. However, it often remains limited to cognitive aspects, neglecting democratic practices and participatory skills. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research collected data through interviews, participatory observation, and questionnaires involving teachers, student council administrators, and eleventh-grade students. The findings reveal that the Voice of Democracy project provided students with meaningful experiences in understanding and practicing democracy through activities such as election simulations, open debates, campaign design, and collaborative decision-making. These activities successfully integrated multiple subjects, including Civic Education, Indonesian Language, and Visual Communication Design, enriching students’ political literacy, communication, and creativity. Moreover, the project fostered deliberative participation, negotiation skills, and political efficacy, as students not only learned concepts theoretically but also experienced democratic processes in practice. The reflection stage enabled critical evaluation, encouraging students to internalize values of justice, tolerance, and responsibility. Despite challenges such as uneven student engagement and cross-subject coordination, the project demonstrated significant potential in developing democratic attitudes and participatory skills. Ultimately, this study highlights the strategic role of schools as agents of political education in the Merdeka Curriculum era, showing how project-based learning can transform abstract democratic principles into lived experiences for students.

Abstract

Low student engagement and suboptimal academic achievement remain persistent challenges in secondary education. In response, this study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Practice Rehearsal Pairs (PRP) method in simultaneously enhancing student engagement and academic performance in a physics learning context. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, the study involved 72 tenth-grade students from State Senior High School 5 Tanjung Balai, divided equally into experimental and control classes. Data on student engagement were collected through structured observation using a five-category engagement rubric, while academic achievement was assessed through pretest and posttest scores. The analysis employed descriptive statistics, paired sample t-tests, normalized gain (N-Gain), and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) to determine both separate and simultaneous effects of the intervention. Findings revealed that the PRP method significantly improved student engagement, with the experimental group shifting from predominantly "very less active" to 94.45% categorized as "active" or "very active." Academic performance also increased markedly, with a mean posttest gain of 17.92 points and an N-Gain score of 0.5463, categorized as medium and quite effective. MANOVA results indicated a statistically significant simultaneous effect on both engagement and achievement (Wilks’ Lambda = 0.057, p < 0.001). These results suggest that PRP is an effective pedagogical strategy for fostering meaningful participation and cognitive gains in science education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of differentiated learning in the Pancasila education subject at “Sekolah Penggerak” (driving schools), analyze the challenges, and identify the efforts made to optimize its implementation using the indicators of content, process, product, and learning environment differentiation, focusing on students’ learning styles. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The Informants in this study consisted of 30 individuals selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results show that the implementation of learning differentiation based on learning styles at SMAN 9 Padang and SMAN 10 Padang has been carried out, although not yet fully optimal due to shortcomings in planning and execution. In planning through teaching modules, teachers only created general guidelines. For content differentiation, teachers have provided audio-visual materials such as illustrated narrative texts, videos, and PowerPoint presentations. Teachers have applied various teaching methods, but the student worksheets (LKPD) remain uniform. Regarding product differentiation, teachers have not created varied outputs. In terms of learning environment, the arrangement of desks and chairs is sometimes inconsistent with learning activities, affecting student focus.  Pancasila Education teachers at the two “Sekolah Penggerak” have made various efforts to address these challenges. In content, teachers apply classroom differentiation strategies, use movement-themed ice breakers, and attend digital training.
