Abstract

Background (General): Islamic banks play a crucial role in Indonesia’s financial system, with murabahah financing serving as a primary income source. Background (Specific): While murabahah margins are fixed and independent of interest rate fluctuations, macroeconomic variables such as interest rates and inflation may still indirectly affect bank profitability. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies largely focused on annual pre-pandemic data, overlooking quarterly dynamics during the post-pandemic period, when monetary and market conditions changed significantly. Aim: This study examines the effects of murabahah financing, interest rates, and inflation on murabahah margin income in Indonesian Islamic banks during 2020–2024 using quarterly data. Results: Multiple regression analysis of 30 observations from six banks shows murabahah financing has a significant positive effect on margin income, whereas interest rates and inflation show no significant individual impact. Jointly, all three variables significantly influence margin income. Novelty: The research introduces a post-pandemic, quarterly dataset and simultaneously tests three key financial and macroeconomic variables in the murabahah context. Implications: Findings affirm the strategic importance of murabahah financing as a stable revenue driver, suggesting Islamic banks should prioritize financing expansion and operational efficiency over short-term macroeconomic fluctuations when formulating pricing and portfolio strategies.Highlight : Murabahah financing has a significant positive effect on margin income. Interest rates and inflation have no partial effect. All three variables have a simultaneous significant effect. Keywords : Murabahah Financing; Interest Rates; Inflation; Murabahah Margin Income; Islamic Banks

Abstract

Business competition between banks now shows increasingly tight competition to get customers, so banks are struggling to provide the best services and services. This research aims to find out whether there is an influence of Cross-Selling and up-selling in increasing customer loyalty at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KC Kuala Simpang. This research was conducted at BSI KC Kuala Simpang. This type of research uses quantitative methods, which collect data in the form of questionnaires that are distributed to users or customers of BSI KC Kuala Simpang. The population in this study was 1,200 customers with a sample size of 100. To determine the number of samples taken, the Slovin formula was used. Meanwhile, the analysis technique uses SPSS 25 software, which explains that the Cross Selling and up Selling variables have a positive and significant influence on customer loyalty. Cross-selling and up-selling are two strategies that companies often use to increase sales and increase customer satisfaction. Although they are two different techniques, they are closely related and often work together to maximize sales potential. Both strategies have the same goal, namely increasing the average transaction value per customer. Cross-selling involves selling additional products that are complementary or related to what the customer has already purchased, when it comes to up-selling, the aim is to persuade customers into buying a higher-priced or deluxe version of the product they initially planned to buy.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the Islamic banking industry in Indonesia has not been matched by institutional strengthening at the micro level, particularly within Islamic Rural Banks (BPRS). This study aims to analyze the financial performance and financing risk of PT. BPRS Puduarta Insani from 2021 to 2024, and to evaluate the implementation of Sharia principles in operational practices from the perspective of Account Officers (AOs). Employing a qualitative approach, the research utilizes in-depth interviews supported by secondary financial data and applies thematic analysis. The findings reveal a significant phenomenon of pseudo-compliance, where Sharia principles are fulfilled formally but not substantively. This practice, driven by institutional pressure to achieve financing targets, directly contributes to a deteriorating portfolio quality and distortion in the application of Sharia contracts. The issue is further exacerbated by limitations in AO capacity, a weak monitoring system, and the lack of standardized recovery procedures, compounding risk management challenges. This study recommends institutional reform through the rationalization of financing targets, enhancement of operational Sharia training, and digitalization of monitoring systems to ensure a sustainable balance between financial performance and Sharia integrity.

Abstract

Student perception plays a vital role in shaping attitudes, interests, and decisions, particularly in choosing a major and planning a career. Each individual has different perceptions depending on background, expectations, and information received. This study aims to explore the perceptions of final-year and new students in choosing the Sharia Banking major with regard to career prospects. Many students still believe that graduates can only work in banks, although opportunities are more diverse. The research method applied is qualitative, using open-ended questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents, consisting of 50 new and 50 final-year students. The findings show that final-year students possess a broader understanding due to academic and internship experiences, while new students tend to have limited views. Factors influencing perceptions include experience, knowledge, and environment. The study suggests the need for early career prospect socialization, stronger collaboration between universities and industry, and students’ active efforts in seeking information and developing skills.

Abstract

In this research, the restructuring method was used at Bank Sumut Syariah KCP Kota Baru to see how the collectability status of Sharia Home Ownership Credit (KPR) handled problematic financing. Non-Performing Financing (NPF) is an important issue in the sharia banking industry, including sharia mortgage financing products. This research uses a qualitative study with a case study approach. Data was collected through interviews and observations. The research results show that Bank Sumut Syariah KCP Kota Baru implemented several strategies in handling problematic financing for Sharia KPR by rescheduling or rescheduling. By implementing a comprehensive handling mechanism, Bank Sumut Syariah KCP Kota Baru seeks to minimize financing risks. Abstract

Micro businesses have an important role in employment absorption and gross domestic product (GDP). The problem often faced by micro businesses is the difficulty of obtaining loans from banks. Sharia Microfinance Institutions (LKMS) are an alternative source of financing. Baitul Mal wat Tanwil (BMT) Al-Akbar is a sharia microfinance institution that provides micro business financing through murabahah financing. This research aims to analyze the factors that influence the realization of murabahah financing through customer characteristics. The sampling method was carried out using convenience sampling and the number of samples used was 40 people. The collected data was processed using multiple regression. The research results show that the significant factors are length of education, length of business, net business income for one month and collateral. Abstract

This study aims to explain how street vendors survive and the obstacles they face amid modern business competition triggered by retail expansion and the shift to online commerce. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach in one of the markets in Indonesia, with four main informants who are traders of various commodities (casual clothing, baby and children's clothing, foodstuffs, and fruits), supplemented by brief confirmation from market managers and customers. Data was obtained through stall observation, in-depth interviews, and document review; analyzed thematically and mapped into a framework of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The findings reveal five most consistent strategies: strengthening services that foster trust; maintaining quality while organizing merchandise displays; starting to utilize simple digital channels (messaging and cashless payments based on Bank Indonesia's standard QR code); improving operational efficiency (stock and cost management); and collaborating with suppliers and the local community. The main obstacles include uneven digital literacy, limited capital and facilities, price pressure from modern retailers, and uncertainty regarding business space. The practical implications are the need for concise digital and managerial assistance, access to microfinance for small value-added improvements, and participatory market structuring. This article contributes by translating cross-commodity daily strategies into an action plan that is easy for traders and stakeholders to adopt.
