Abstract

The study aims to determine the following: (1) the effect of the At-Tartil method on students' ability to read and write the Al-Qur'an, (2) the effect of teacher coaching on students' ability to read and write the Al-Qur'an, and (3) the simultaneous effect of the At-Tartil method and teacher coaching on students' ability to read and write the Al-Qur'an at TPA Al-Musyarrof in Bantengan Village, Madiun Regency. The research method is a descriptive quantitative Correlational Survey design. The study population consisted of 280 active students and 15 teachers. A total of 55 respondents were sampled (40 students and 15 teachers). Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed in several stages, including a descriptive statistics test, a normality test, a linearity test, a one-sample t-test, and a multiple linear regression test. The results showed the following: (1) The At-Tartil Method significantly improves the ability to read and write the Quran, with an average score of 87.98 and a significance level of 0.000. (2) Teacher coaching also significantly improves the ability to read and write the Quran, with an average score of 87.07 and a significance level of 0.000. (3) The partial regression coefficient test results show that neither the At-Tartil Method (sig. 0.489) nor teacher coaching (sig. 0.413) have a significant individual effect, as both are greater than 0.05. The collinearity statistics test results show tolerance and VIF values of 1.000, indicating an absence of multicollinearity symptoms between the independent variables. Together, the method and coaching have not been able to explain the variation in students' abilities as a whole. A more integrated approach is needed that considers factors such as students' cognitive readiness and the support of their learning environment.

Abstract

Background: Down syndrome children are a group of children with special needs caused by abnormalities in chromosomes that result in loss of skills and brain function. Songs are innovative health promotion media, songs can help children with Down syndrome increase motivation, concentration, perceptual abilities, as well as retention and memory skills including oral health behavior. Objective: Knowing the effect of using the song "SIKAT GIGIMU: Our Beautiful Smile with Healthy Teeth" on improving the oral health behavior of children with Down syndrome. Method: Using quasi-experimental research design with one group pre and posttest method. Results: Mann Whitney test obtained a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, meaning that there is an effect of using the song "SIKAT GIGIMU: Our Beautiful Smile with Healthy Teeth"  on improving the oral health behavior of children with Down syndrome. Conclusion: The song "SIKAT GIGIMU: Our Beautiful Smile with Healthy Teeth" has an effect on improving the oral health behavior of children with Down syndrome. Keywords: down syndrome, oral health behavior, songs

Abstract

Background: Chronic periodontitis is a disease of the oral cavity that is influenced by the presence of plaque bacteria caused by Porphyromonas gingivalis which can cause chronic infection of the periodontal tissue. Kecapi leaf (Sandoricum koetjape) extract contains active compounds in the form of flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, steroids, phenolics, and triterpenoids which function as antibacterial against the growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis. Kecapi leaf extract is used as an alternative to using herbal gluconate to prevent infection caused of Porphyromonas gingivalis. Purpose: To determine the antibacterial effectiveness of kecapi leaf extract against bacterial growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis. Methods: This study used a pure experimental research (true experimental) with post-test only with control design, consists of 7 treatment groups, including: concentrated kecapi leaf extract 5%, 10%, 15%, 25%, 50%, chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% as positive control, and distilled water as negative control. It was repeated 7 times, the antibacterial effectiveness was assessed from Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) on BHIB and NA media by dilution method. Results: MIC on kecapi leaf extract at a concentration of 5% showed the smallest result of -0.147 and the MBC value at a concentration of 50% did not show the growth of bacterial colonies. Conclusion: Kecapi leaf extract with concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, 25%, 50%, and positive control was effective in inhibiting and killing bacterial growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis. Keywords: Antibacterial, Kecapi leaf extract, Porphyromonas gingivalis

Abstract

Background: Smile aesthetics, particularly the buccal corridor, is a critical aspect of facial visual harmony that influences self-confidence and social interactions. Aesthetic perception is subjective and influenced by factors such as gender and demographic conditions. Objective: The study aimed to compare aesthetic perceptions of the buccal corridor between male and female adolescents attending senior high school in non-urban areas of Banjarmasin. Methods: An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted, involving 216 respondents (108 males & 108 females) selected based on inclusion criteria. The instrument used to assess buccal corridor perception was a pictorial questionnaire featuring three buccal corridor variations (wide, moderate, and narrow), evaluated using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The results showed that female adolescents had the highest mean aesthetic perception score for the buccal corridor (mean: 62.99). Statistical testing revealed p < 0.05 for all categories, indicating a significant difference in aesthetic perception between males and females across all buccal corridor types. Conclusion: Female adolescents demonstrated higher aesthetic perception levels than males, suggesting they possess more selective and meticulous preferences when evaluating buccal corridor appearance.  Keywords: buccal corridor, smile aesthetics, perception, non-urban
