Abstract

This research explores the interaction between financial literacy, attitudes, self-control, and social factors in shaping the financial behavior of students in Indonesia, incorporating the roles of fintech and social media. A qualitative grounded theory approach was employed, using in-depth interviews with 20 purposively selected participants. Findings reveal that although students have access to various financial information sources, their literacy and application levels remain limited. Their financial behavior is heavily influenced by social pressure, the fear of missing out phenomenon, and social media, often leading to impulsive spending. Families play a crucial role in forming early financial habits, while self-control is key to managing spending temptations. Students developed adaptive strategies like saving, reducing expenses, and using financial apps to overcome challenges. The study concludes that a holistic approach, enhancing financial literacy, strengthening self-control, and educating on the social-digital environment, is essential to improve student financial behavior. These implications provide a basis for developing more effective and contextual financial education programs in higher education.

Abstract

The rapid growth of big data has significantly increased the computational complexity of machine learning models, particularly due to intensive linear algebra operations that limit scalability and efficiency. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Randomized Linear Algebra (RLA) as an acceleration strategy for machine learning in large scale data environments. The research adopts an experimental methodology by integrating randomized techniques such as matrix sketching and random projection into standard machine learning pipelines and evaluating their performance against deterministic baseline approaches. Experiments are conducted on large dimensional datasets using multiple machine learning models, with performance assessed in terms of computational time, memory usage, model accuracy, and scalability. The results demonstrate that the proposed RLA based approach substantially reduces computational cost and memory consumption while maintaining comparable predictive accuracy to conventional methods. These findings indicate that randomized techniques provide an effective trade off between efficiency and accuracy, enabling scalable machine learning for big data applications. In conclusion, this study contributes to the advancement of efficient Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems by demonstrating that RLA can serve as a practical and scalable solution for accelerating machine learning computations in big data contexts, aligning with the growing demand for resource efficient and high performance AI infrastructures.

Abstract

The Dynamic Positioning (DP) System is essential in modern maritime operations, especially for offshore projects, as it enables vessels to maintain a fixed position and heading without traditional anchoring. A DP Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the system functions effectively, and the success of DP operations largely depends on their competence. Therefore, optimizing operator skills is key to safe and efficient operations. This qualitative study draws on the author’s observations as a DP Operator aboard the MV. ENA HABITAT, as well as relevant literature. It identifies three essential phases of DP offshore operations: pre-operation procedures, on-DP operation, and post-operation or termination. Neglecting any of these stages can disrupt project progress, cause financial losses, or compromise safety. The study also highlights common challenges faced during DP operations on MV. ENA HABITAT DP-II, including sensor failures, thruster issues, system configuration difficulties, harsh environmental conditions, human error, external infrastructure interference, and communication breakdowns. These issues, if unaddressed, can lead to serious incidents. To mitigate these risks, the paper emphasizes enhancing DP Operator capabilities through a range of strategies: accumulating sea time on various vessel types, engaging in advanced simulator training, deepening system knowledge via FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) courses, regularly evaluating operations, participating in Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and strengthening non-technical skills such as teamwork and communication.Improving these competencies ensures not only operational success but also the safety and security of both vessel and crew during DP activities.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the interaction between service quality and digital transformation in reconstructing students' loyalty in higher education, with a specific focus on academic and non-academic services at Indonesian universities. The theoretical framework integrates service quality dimensions, digital transformation concepts, and loyalty models to provide a comprehensive understanding of how these factors shape students' loyalty in the digital era. Utilizing a Grounded Theory approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with students, faculty members, and administrative staff. Data analysis involved open coding, axial coding, and selective coding to develop Digital-Service Synergy Theory explaining the loyalty reconstruction process. Findings indicate that while both service quality and digital transformation significantly influence student loyalty, their interaction creates a more complex dynamic that determines overall satisfaction and loyalty. Key factors influencing effectiveness include e-learning system quality, instructor responsiveness, technical support, and digital anxiety management. The study provides insights into optimizing the synergy between traditional service quality and digital transformation to enhance student loyalty and offers practical solutions for implementation challenges in higher education institutions.

Abstract

The problem of plastic waste management in Pablengan Village is triggered by the lack of a final disposal site (TPA) and the practice of open burning. This community service activity aims to convert plastic waste into paving blocks by mentoring the Karang Taruna (Youth Group) and local village officials as primary partners. Methods used included observation, participatory discussions, and technical production training. The activity results showed an increase in partners’ understanding of waste management from 35% to 85%, based on pre- and post-test results. The training involved 25 participants and resulted in the production of 50 prototype paving blocks utilising approximately 40 kg of plastic waste. This implementation has the potential to sustainably reduce plastic waste in the village while creating new economic opportunities. This program successfully transformed an environmental burden into functional infrastructure materials for the village.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the direct and indirect effects of transformational leadership and compensation on sustainable performance, with Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) as a mediating variable among soldiers of the 509th Infantry Battalion. Using an explanatory research approach, data were collected from 80 soldiers through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using SEM-PLS. The results show that transformational leadership and compensation significantly improve sustainable performance. Both variables also positively influence OCB, which in turn enhances sustainable performance. Mediation testing confirms that OCB partially mediates the effects of transformational leadership and compensation on sustainable performance, indicating that voluntary extra-role behaviors serve as an important behavioral pathway through which leadership and compensation strengthen long-term performance stability. The novelty of this research lies in integrating sustainable performance with leadership, compensation, and OCB within a military context—an area that remains underexplored in previous studies. This study also provides new empirical evidence on how OCB functions as a strategic mediator in high-discipline, high-risk organizational environments. The findings contribute theoretically by reinforcing models of transformational leadership, compensation, OCB, and sustainable performance, while practically offering recommendations for strengthening leadership practices, compensation fairness, and voluntary behaviors to enhance long-term operational readiness in military units.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has led to a significant increase in data volume and complexity, while traditional database systems continue to face challenges in ensuring data security, integrity, transparency, and interoperability across platforms, resulting in higher risks of data tampering, limited audit trails, and the formation of data silos. This study aims to examine and develop a blockchain integration model with conventional database systems to strengthen secure data provenance and enhance interoperability among heterogeneous databases. This research proposes a hybrid architecture that combines on data recording using a permissioned blockchain with off data storage through Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) or Not Only SQL (NoSQL) databases, where blockchain functions as a trust layer that records data hashes, metadata, and immutable change histories, while system evaluation is conducted through security testing, data integrity assessment, auditability analysis, latency measurement, throughput evaluation, data consistency analysis, and cross-platform interoperability testing. The experimental results demonstrate that blockchain integration significantly improves data security and traceability by providing transparent and tamper-resistant audit trails, while enabling secure and consistent data exchange across systems through integration modules and API gateways, despite introducing additional performance overhead compared to conventional database systems. This study concludes that integrating blockchain with conventional database systems is an effective approach for ensuring secure data provenance and interoperable database management, offering a balanced trade-off between security, transparency, and system efficiency, and presenting strong potential for further development in large-scale distributed data environments.
