Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance local food security through the construction and utilization of a greenhouse in Tellumpanua Village, Tanete Rilau District, Barru Regency, as an adaptation measure to the impacts of climate change. The greenhouse serves as a horticultural production facility capable of controlling temperature, humidity, and light intensity, enabling crops to grow optimally throughout the year. The activities were carried out through several stages, including planning, facility construction, management training for farmer groups, and assistance during the cultivation process. The results indicate that the use of greenhouses can increase productivity and crop quality while reducing the risk of crop failure due to extreme weather. Collaboration among universities, farmers, and the village government was identified as a key factor contributing to the program’s success. The application of greenhouse technology is expected to be replicated in other areas as a sustainable agricultural adaptation strategy to climate change.

Abstract

This study explores the optimization of professional zakat collection among civil servant teachers (ASN) in Parepare City, focusing on the roles of Zakat Collecting Units (UPZ), direct salary deductions, and BAZNAS socialization programs. Using a qualitative field study approach, data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation at BAZNAS Parepare. The findings reveal a substantial zakat potential from ASN teachers, estimated at IDR 2,706,480,000 annually, yet the actual collection in 2022 only reached about IDR 600,000,000. The gap is attributed to limited knowledge regarding zakat obligations, economic constraints, and the distribution of zakat funds to various amil zakat institutions. BAZNAS Parepare has implemented strategic measures, including establishing UPZ in government agencies, direct zakat deductions from salaries, and intensive socialization to increase awareness and compliance. The collected zakat is allocated to eight eligible groups (asnaf), with a focus on economic empowerment programs such as business capital assistance and productive facilities for mustahik. These initiatives have shown positive impacts, enabling some mustahik to become muzakki. The study concludes that optimizing professional zakat, especially from ASN teachers, can significantly contribute to poverty alleviation and economic empowerment in Parepare. Further efforts are needed to enhance zakat literacy, strengthen regulations, and innovate collection methods for maximum impact.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the subsidized fertilizer distribution program through Farmer Cards in Galung Village, Barru District, Barru Regency. This program is one of the government's efforts to digitize fertilizer subsidy distribution to make it more targeted, transparent, and efficient. The research method used was a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. The results indicate that the implementation of the Farmer Card program in Galung Village still faces various obstacles, including farmers' limited understanding of card use, uneven card distribution, and technical issues with the electronic system used. Nevertheless, this program is considered capable of providing a new direction for more controlled and data-driven fertilizer subsidy distribution. This study recommends the need for more extensive outreach, increased farmer capacity in using Farmer Cards, and improvements to the support system to achieve equitable and sustainable subsidized fertilizer distribution.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze research trend developments, scientific impact, and global collaboration patterns in the field of hospital smoking ban policies using a bibliometric approach. Data were collected from the Scopus database using relevant keywords related to "hospital smoking policy" and analyzed with bibliometric software tools such as VOSviewer and Biblioshiny. The analysis results indicate a significant increase in the number of publications since 2000, with the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada emerging as the main contributors. Dominant topics include smoke-free policies, health impacts on patients and staff, and the effectiveness of policy interventions. The visualization of collaboration networks reveals strong connections among developed countries, although collaborations involving developing countries remain limited. These findings provide a comprehensive overview of the research landscape concerning hospital smoking policies and highlight opportunities to strengthen cross-country cooperation to enhance the effectiveness of global health policies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of plastic bag reduction policies by communities and business actors in support of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Barru Regency. The research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that public awareness of the environmental impacts of plastic bag usage is increasing; however, challenges remain in maintaining consistent behavioral change and ensuring the availability of eco-friendly alternatives. Business actors show varying degrees of support depending on the type of business and their understanding of existing regulations. The local government has issued policies to promote plastic reduction, although enforcement and public outreach efforts are considered insufficient. The implementation of this policy contributes to the achievement of SDG Goal 12 (responsible consumption and production) and Goal 12 (climate action). Collaboration among the government, businesses, and communities is identified as a key factor in fostering behavioral transformation and creating a more sustainable environment.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of sustainability reporting practices and the quality of CSR disclosures as well as political connections to company performance, either directly or indirectly, by involving governance mechanisms as mediators. This study uses secondary data on banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2013 to 2021. The sample selection method uses a purposive sampling method with several criteria to produce 383 observations. The analysis technique used is simple and multiple linear regression analysis using STATA 12 application and Sobel test for mediation test. The results of this study provide empirical evidence that the practice of reporting on the sustainability of banking companies cannot improve the company's performance, this is because banks have not fully prepared sustainability reports and used insurance services, while the quality of CSR disclosure and political connections can improve company performance. The results also show that the practice of sustainability reporting and the quality of CSR disclosure as well as political connections can improve company performance through governance mechanisms.

Abstract

IntroductionIn recent years, the growing emphasis on sustainability and ethical investment has prompted firms to integrate green accounting and financial management practices into their business strategies. However, evidence regarding the impact of green accounting and leverage on firm value, particularly within Islamic capital markets, remains inconclusive. This study investigates how green accounting and leverage affect firm value, with financial performance acting as a mediating variable, among basic materials firms listed on the Indonesia Sharia Stock Index (ISSI).ObjectivesThis research aims to analyze the direct and indirect effects of green accounting and leverage on firm value through financial performance. It also seeks to determine whether sustainability-oriented accounting practices contribute to firm valuation and to evaluate the mediating role of profitability in shaping these relationships within an Islamic financial context.MethodA quantitative research design was employed using panel data from six basic materials firms listed on the ISSI during 2019–2023. Green accounting was measured using environmental cost disclosure, leverage by the debt-to-equity ratio, financial performance by return on assets, and firm value by Tobin’s Q. Data were analyzed using path analysis and the Random Effect Model, supported by classical assumption and Sobel tests to assess mediation effects.ResultsThe findings indicate that green accounting and leverage do not have significant direct effects on either financial performance or firm value. However, financial performance significantly mediates the relationship between green accounting and firm value, suggesting that sustainability initiatives enhance firm valuation indirectly through profitability. In contrast, financial performance does not mediate the relationship between leverage and firm value. These results demonstrate that environmental accountability contributes to firm value when translated into financial efficiency but not through debt-financed strategies.ImplicationsThis study highlights the need for firms to integrate environmental expenditures as strategic investments rather than operational costs. It underscores the importance of aligning sustainability initiatives with financial management and governance frameworks to optimize firm value. Policymakers should strengthen regulatory incentives for environmental reporting and enhance investor awareness to bridge the gap between sustainability performance and market valuation.Originality/NoveltyThis study contributes to sustainability accounting and Islamic finance literature by empirically establishing the mediating role of financial performance in the relationship between green accounting and firm value. It provides new insights into how environmentally responsible practices create value in emerging Islamic capital markets.
