Abstract

The exploration of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC), especially regarding the photoanode, is steadily advancing. widely recognized, the photoanode plays a key role in absorbing light and facilitating electron generation, which is essential for the efficiency of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC). TiO2 is frequently used as photoanode due to its excellent stability and ability to effectively support dye molecules. However, in terms of enhancing light absorption and the electron transfer rate, doping with Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs) in TiO2-based photoanodes has gained attention as a promising approach to improve efficiency. In this research, Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs) were added to TiO2 to enhance its properties. Red CQDs and Yellow CQDs were incorporated into TiO2 at a concentration of 5%. The resulting composite materials were characterized using XRD, UV-Vis, and I-V measurements with a solar simulator. The XRD pattern confirmed the crystalline structure of TiO2 with incorporated CQDs. The optical properties of the CQD-TiO2 composites were analyzed through UV-Vis spectroscopy, revealing changes in light absorption. The DSSC performance parameters, including Jsc, Voc, FF, and η, were determined through I-V characterization using a solar simulator. The best DSSC performance was obtained by the sample with the addition of 5% Yellow CQDs, with an efficiency of 3.42%

Abstract

The performance of activated carbon (AC)-based supercapacitor electrodes is often limited by poor electrical conductivity, prompting interest in conductive additives such as carbon black (CB). This study explores the transformative potential of CB as a conductive additive in AC-based supercapacitor electrodes and systematically investigates CB mass loadings of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, using styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) as the binder. The findings in this study demonstrate that 10% CB is the optimal loading, offering a balanced performance in terms of structure, morphology, and capacitance. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis reveals a distinct structural evolution at 10% CB, characterized by the exclusive emergence of a (100) peak at 43° 2θ, which indicates the formation of dense graphene-like layers and enhanced π-π electron delocalization. This promotes the formation of robust conductive networks, reducing electrode resistivity by 72%. Morphological and specific surface area characterization confirms the uniform particle distribution of an ultra-thin electrode AC-10% CB (26.5 μm) with a high surface area of 851.84 m²/g; this maximizes ion-accessible active sites and minimizes diffusion pathways. These combined effects result in a specific capacitance of 61.33 F/g, representing a 12% improvement over the pristine electrode (56.36 F/g) and 89.87% capacitance retention after 50 cycles. These results highlight the importance of optimizing CB loading: Lower concentrations (

Abstract

Separators in supercapacitors have an important role as intermediaries for ions that pass during the charge-discharge process and affect the performance of supercapacitors. Therefore, a comprehensive study is needed related to separator characteristics, including morphology, pore size, diameter, functional group, and electrochemical performance of separator membranes from PAN/PVDF composites. The separator membrane was synthesized using the electrospinning method with thickness variation (2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 layers), followed by supercapacitor fabrication with coin cell device. The resulting membrane was then characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). For the result of supercapacitor fabrication with coin cells, Galvanostatic Charge-Discharge (GCD), Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) were carried out to determine supercapacitor performance. FTIR results showed that the PAN/PVDF membrane was successfully composites with the addition of new peaks identified as PVDF and PAN at wave numbers 2243.21 and 881 cm-1. The nanofibers formed have diameters ranging from 319.7 to 339.95 nm. The optimum percentage of electrolyte uptake is obtained at membranes that have 6 layers, which is 318.18% and decreases to 173.68% the thickness is 10 layers. In this study, the optimum supercapacitor performance was obtained in the 6 layers variation with a thickness of 75.91 x 103 nm with a gravimetric capacitance value is 53.36 F/g, the capacity retention is 88.96% after being tested for 500 cycles, the largest curve area of CV, and an ionic conductivity value is 54 x 10-5 S/cm.

Abstract

Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) contribute significantly to the national economy through remittances, but still face challenges in managing their finances wisely. The low level of financial literacy and limited utilization of digital financial services cause many PMIs to have difficulties in long-term financial planning. This service program aims to empower Indonesian migrant workers in South Korea through digital-based financial literacy training using the Design Thinking approach. Five stages in this method: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test, are used to design learning media that suits user needs. The results of the activity showed that the developed media, in the form of online modules, leaflets, and training videos, were rated as excellent by experts and migrant practitioners with an average score of 3.71 on a scale of 4. The evaluation also showed that this media is easy to understand, relevant to the needs of migrant workers, and has the potential to be developed sustainably. This service not only improves the financial literacy of migrant workers, but also opens up opportunities for program replication in other migrant communities.

Abstract

Even though reviews related to metacognition in education have been reported periodically, reviews of metacognition in physics education have rarely been explored. This study aims to analyze the trends and development patterns of metacognition research in physics education through a systematic review of the literature, identify the most researched aspects of metacognition as well as unanswered gaps in the context of physics education, and specifically assess effective metacognitive instructional practices or uncover the lack of research on teachers' pedagogical knowledge. This study examines 17 physics education- related papers that were published between 2013 to 2021 in peer-reviewed journals. Following data extraction based on the criteria introduced by Flavel, then synthesized and reported narratively. Based on the analysis, the findings of this study reported that the studies of metacognition in physics education focused on metacognitive knowledge (MK) more than metacognitive experience (ME), little attention has been given to metacognitive instruction in physics learning (n=7 out of 17 articles), and related to professional development of pre-service teachers (in higher education) and teachers of physics education, studies of metacognition for pre- and in-service trainings have not been addressed yet. These findings identified that there are gaps in research related to metacognition in physics education and these gaps need to be explored for further research. These findings identify that there are gaps in research relating to metacognition in physics education and these gaps need to be explored for further research. Thus, the results of this analysis are expected to provide a comprehensive mapping of the development of metacognition research in physics education, be the basis for the development of more effective learning strategies and metacognition-based teacher training, and open up further research opportunities, especially related to teacher pedagogical training and the integration of metacognition in the physics curriculum.

Abstract

Supercapacitor is one of the energy storage systems known for their high-power density, long cycle life, and good cycling stability. To improve supercapacitor performance, we used a polymer PAN composite titanium dioxide (TiO2) as the separator material. Nanofiber separator membranes of PAN/TiO₂ with various masses (0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 wt%) were successfully synthesized using the electrospinning technique. The addition of TiO2 for modified fiber, due to its high absorption rate for energy storage, increased electrolyte uptake and optimized supercapacitor performance. The morphology, functional groups, crystallinity, and thermal stability of the membranes were identified using scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively. It was found that the membrane with 15 wt% TiO2 exhibited a fiber diameter of 224.73 nm, pore size of 138.98 nm, the highest porosity of 66.50%, electrolyte uptake of 240%, and thermal stability up to 282°C, with a remaining mass of 3.94% after being tested at 1000°C. The electrochemical performance of the supercapacitors was measured using galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The membrane containing 15 wt% TiO2 demonstrated optimum ionic conductivity of 4.4 x 10-4 S/cm, gravimetric capacitance of 57.770 F. g-1, and capacitance retention of 94.22% after 1000 test cycles.

Abstract

This research develops an automatic switching-based hybrid energy management system that integrates batteries and supercapacitors to improve power distribution efficiency in electric vehicles. The system is controlled by a microcontroller that monitors the current in real-time and activates the supercapacitor line when the current exceeds 10 A. The switching circuit uses IR2110 and IRFP4568 MOSFETs. Tests were conducted in three scenarios: battery only, hybrid without load, and hybrid with load. In the no-load condition, the supercapacitor produced a peak current of 18.23 A and an average of 5.73 A, while the battery recorded an average current of 8.52 A. In the loaded condition, the supercapacitor peak current reached 20.87 A, with an average of 10.82 A, while the battery was 11.95 A. The total energy increased from 55022.25 J (battery only) to 92000.76 J (no-load) and 147019.09 J (with load). The efficiency also increased from 1.0% to 2.4% in the hybrid configuration. The system showed a stable energy conversion efficiency of 95% under both hybrid conditions. These results prove that automatic integration of supercapacitors can improve system efficiency and performance without the complexity of control algorithms.
