Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of the low cognitive competence of students in learning Biology at SMAN 7 Padang which is closely related to misconceptions. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of students who experienced misconceptions on the subject of biodiversity. This research is a descriptive study, the data collection technique that the author uses is to use questions given to students, with this question the authors obtain data about students' misconceptions on biodiversity material at SMAN 7 Padang. Afterthe data was obtained, the writer used a descriptive statistical formula. Theresearch subjects were 40 students of class X, which was carried out from July to August 2021. After the research was carried out, the authors obtained the results of the research on the percentage of misconceptions experienced by students in the sub-material of the concept of biodiversity of 45.00%, the sub-material of biodiversity at the level of genes, species and species by 39.08%, sub-material types of aquatic ecosystems and terrestrial ecosystems by 38.33%, sub-material diversity and distribution of flora and fauna in Indonesia by 41.25%, sub-materialbenefits of biodiversity in Indonesia by 55.00%, sub-material factors causing the reduction of biodiversity in Indonesia by 32.50%, submaterial 37.50%.

Abstract

Instrumen dalam bentuk asesmen penalaran sangat jarang digunakan pada penilaian kompetensi peserta didik pada abad 21. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa instrumen penilaian biologi menggunakan asesmen penalaran yaitu kerangka Quellmalz tentang materi jaringan tumbuhan untuk peserta didik kelas XI SMA/MA yang valid. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan 4D model yang terdiri atas tahap define dengan menganalisis soal-soal yang digunakan guru di sekolah, tahap design yaitu pemilihan aplikasi yang tepat dalam pengembangan instrumen penilaian, dan tahap development bertujuan untuk menghasilkan instrumen penilaian biologi berbasis kerangka Quellmalz yang valid. Hasil uji validitas pada produk ini berdasarkan hasil validasi 3 orang dosen ahli. Hasil pengembangan instrumen penilaian ini menunjukkan kualitas produk dengan nilai rata-rata 87,41% berada pada kriteria valid. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa instrumen penilaian biologi yang dikembangkan ini sudah valid dan dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu instrumen dalam mengukur kemampuan penalaran peserta didik

Abstract

One of the efforts to improve students' argumentation and critical thinking skills in 21st century learning is to apply problem solving learning models by paying attention to students' academic abilities. The type of research used is quasi-experimental with a 2x2 factorial design. The study population was students of class VIII SMPN 18 Padang, while the research sample was students of class VIII.8 and class VIII.7 by taking samples based on certain criteria. The instrument is a data collection technique with a written test. Data analysis was performed by testing the two-way ANOVA hypothesis using SPSS. The results showed that: (1) the problem-solving learning model affected students' argumentative skills and critical thinking. (2) the problem-solving learning model affects the argumentative and critical thinking abilities of students with high and low academic abilities. (3) there is no interaction between the problem-solving learning model and the academic ability of students 'argumentation skills (4) there is an interaction between the problem-solving learning model and the academic ability of students' critical thinking skills. To sum up, problem solving learning model is able to realize students who have critical thinking skills and arguments that can compete in the era of globalization needed in this 21st century education

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan memetakan kebutuhan peserta didik terhadap lembar kerja pada materi perubahan lingkungan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu satu orang guru biologi yang mengajar di kelas X dan 60 orang peserta didik yang diambil secara acak (random sampling) di SMA N 5 Padang. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu (1) Pada materi perubahan lingkungan, guru belum menggunakan LKPD, (2) Materi perubahan lingkungan sebagai isu populer dan berdampak pada kehidupan perlu dipelajari lebih dalam, (3) Peserta didik memiliki kesadaran terhadap perubahan lingkungan yang disebabkan masalah lingkungan yang semakin kompleks seiring perkembangan zaman, dan (4) Kesadaran bahwa seiring perubahan zaman, permasalahan lingkungan akan semakin kompleks. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah LKPD berbasis Problem Based Learning pada materi perubahan lingkungan dibutuhkan untuk memaksimalkan proses pembelajaran serta dapat mengasah kemampuan bernalar peserta didik.

Abstract

STEM is an integrated learning approach in sciene, technology, and mathematics. In 1990 NSF (National Science Foudation) introduced the STEM approach with the aim of forming a generation that is able to fulfill 21st century abilities such as scientific thinking, reasoning, logical, systematic, and able to improve communicative, collaborative and problem solving, abilities. Students scientific thinking skills need to be developed to form students who think scientically, reason, logicaaly, systematically, and are able to solve problems by collecting information using scientific methods such as exam ination and reasoning, logically, in taking action. Students have various levels of thin king. The purpose of this study is to examine the results of liteture review research method using several data sources such as books and articles from electronic journals. The results of the research show that the application of the STEM approachin learning affects the improvement of students scientific thinking skills.

Abstract

STEM is a learning approach that integrates 4 disciplines in learning, namely science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This approach aims to form the next generation that meets the abilities of the 21st century, one of which is the ability to think creatively. It is important for students to develop creative thinking skills to make students think rationally in solving a problem. The average level of creative thinking of students has various percentages. The purpose of this study was to examine the results of implementing the STEM approach in biology learning from 10 relevant articles and their relationship to students' creative thinking abilities. The type of research used is a meta-analysis with a literature review research method using several data sources such as articles in electronic journals and books. The results showed that the application of the STEM approach in learning had an effect on increasing students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Education has now entered the 21st Century education. In order to survive in the 21st century, various skills are needed, including the 4C skills which consist of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, creativity and innovation, collaboration, and communication. Critical thinking ability is one of the 21st Century Skills that must be possessed by students. The purpose of this study was to determine the critical thinking skills of students at SMAN 2 Padang. The type of research used is descriptive. The population in this study consisted of all class X students of SMAN 2 Padang for the 2021/2022 academic year. The sample in this study was 50 students of class X at SMAN 2 Padang. The technique of determining this sample is done by simple random sampling technique. The instrument used is a validated critical thinking skills questionnaire. Data analysis used descriptive analysis. From the research results obtained in this study, it shows that the critical thinking skills of class X students of SMAN 2 Padang are classified as very low. This is shown from the acquisition of the percentage of critical thinking skills score 5 (very high) which is 9.77%, score 4 (high) is 6.44%, score 3 (enough) is 16.44%, score 2 (low) is 32, 22%, and a score of 1 (very low) which is 35.11%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the critical thinking skills of students at SMAN 1 Pariaman. This type of research is descriptive research. The sample in this study were 68 students of class X MIPA SMAN 1 Pariaman. The sample is determined by lottery. The instrument used is a validated questionnaire. Data analysis with descriptive analysis. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills were still low from the results of the study, it can be concluded that the critical thinking skills of Class X MIPA students at SMAN 1 Pariaman are still low. This is indicated by the acquisition of the percentage of critical thinking skills (T1) as much as 44%, score level 2 (T2) as much as 18%, score level 3 (T3) as much as 16%, score level 4 (T4) as much as 11%, and score level 5 (T5) which is the highest level of 8%.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik di SMAN 1 Pariaman. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah  68 peserta didik kelas  X MIPA  SMAN 1 Pariaman. Sampel ditentukan dengan cara pengundian. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket yang telah divalidasi. Analisis data dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik masih rendah. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwasannya kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik Kelas X MIPA di SMAN 1 Pariaman masih rendah.  Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh perolehan presentase kemampuan berpikir kritis (T1) sebanyak 44%, skor tingkatan 2 (T2) sebanyak 18%, skor tingkatan 3 (T3) sebanyak 16%, skor tingkatan 4 (T4) sebanyak 11%, dan skor tingkatan 5 (T5) yang merupakan tingkatan tertinggi sebanyak 8%. Kata kunci: kemampuan berpikir kritis, siswa SMA, skor tingkatan DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v10i2.23928

Abstract

Kurikulum Tahun 2013 menuntut peserta didik untuk dapat belajar secara aktif, mandiri, dan bepikir kritis. Salah satunya pada pembelajaran biologi dirasakan perlu adanya kemampuan berpikir kritis. Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan kemampuan yang digunakan untuk memahami konsep, menerapkan, mensintesis dan mengevaluasi informasi yang diperoleh. Upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran yang tepat. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis adalah adalah model pembelajaran Discovery Learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Randomized Control-Group Pretest Posttest Design. Sampel yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XI IPA 1 (untuk kelompok kelas eksperimen dengan model Discovery Learning), XI IPA 2 (untuk kelompok kelas kontrol dengan model Direct Instruction). Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data hasil penelitian ini adalah data kuantitatif kemampuan berpikir kritis. Data diperoleh dari tes soal sebanyak 5 soal esai yang sebelumnya sudah di validasi dan di reliabilitasi. Penelitian yang dilakukan memperoleh hasil bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran discovery learning berpengaruh positif pada kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi jaringan tumbuhan.

Abstract

Giving hands-on experience is very important in learning biology. One of the ways to provide direct experience is through practicum activities, so that the method used to guide and direct students in practical activities is by using a biology practicum guide. Based on the observations that have been made, it is known that the practicum guide used is still very simple, has not applied aspects of a scientific approach that are in accordance with the demands of the 2013 curriculum. This type of research is development research (R&D) which aims to produce a scientific approach-based biology practicum guide for class XI SMA semester I valid. This study uses a four-D development model. Based on the validation that has been done, the results obtained an average value of 85.56% with very valid criteria. So, it can be concluded that the biological guide based on the scientific approach that has been developed is valid and suitable to be used as a guide in practical activities. Practical activities play an important role in learning biology. One component that helps the process of practicum activities is a practicum guide. So, it can be concluded that the biological guide based on the scientific approach developed is valid and suitable to be used as a guide in practical activities.
