Abstract

The main aim of SMK is to prepare students to have the practical skills and knowledge needed to enter the world of work. After completing education at vocational school, students can immediately work or choose to continue their education to a higher level. The alignment between the vocational school curriculum and industry demands, especially in graduate skills training (link and match), is currently not yet optimal so it is not adequate to meet the needs of the world of work, industry and business. Even though certain efforts and policies have been made, there are still a number of problems faced by vocational school students. At SMKN 1 Koto Baru, one of the fundamental problems that need special attention in learning is the lack of availability of Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) competencies. This skill is a very important competency, especially in the Motorcycle Engineering and Business (TBSM) program. The results of observations in schools show that practical equipment for both teachers in the teaching process and for students as practical objects is sufficient and always updated. This happens because SMKN 1 Koto Baru has workshop and laboratory facilities which are equipped with adequate equipment. Apart from that, the instruments used in the practicum are good and can be operated according to the standards they should be. Therefore, training was carried out on the use of the smart simulator to increase learning activities because it involved technology in this training which provided new experiences to students. From the results of the activity, it can be seen that students are very enthusiastic and have increased activity in learning because they can carry out a more complete and clear exploration of learning about the EFI system on motorbikes

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide assistance to students in understanding the material presented by the teacher during the period during course. The method applied in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The population group studied were students taking the Automotive Simulation and computing course in the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year, who were enrolled in the Automotive Engineering Education study program at the Faculty of Engineering, UNP. The results of the study show that the use of video media in the form of course via YouTube makes a positive contribution to the course process and understanding of the material for students. The responses from students to the use of video as a course tool for Simulation and Computing showed that 85.66% of them responded well, while 14.34% responded at a poor level. The results of the study show that 50.8% of students have a "good" rating, 8.73% get an "very good" assessment, and 40.47% are in the "enough" category.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi otomotif merupakan salah satu yang paling pesat di Indonesia. Dari meningkatkan kendaraan dan inovasi terbaru hingga menyempurnakan produk yang sudah ada. Sehingga banyak produk yang membuat kendaraan semakin diminati oleh konsumen. Hal ini dapat memberikan kendaraan terbaik bagi konsumen. Berdasarkan observasi yang telah peneliti lakukan di beberapa bengkel yang ada di kota Padang. Dari pendapat beberapa mekanik bahwa untuk performa mesin yang tinggi, Anda bisa memodifikasi komponen atau mesin tersebut. Masyarakat beranggapan dengan mengganti camshaft dapat meningkatkan torsi dan tenaga, yang kondisi tersebut belum dibuktikan dengan menggunakan alat uji standar. Maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggantian camshaft untuk perhitungan ekonomi bahan bakar dan emisi rendah. Sehingga dapat digunakan untuk setiap hari. Sehingga peneliti memfokuskan pada penggantian variasi camshaft dengan perubahan konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh perubahan camshaft terhadap konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik. Didapat hasil bahwa  pada putaran mesin 1750 rpm. Pada putaran mesin 1750 rpm konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik camshaft standard lebih besar yaitu sebesar 0,165 kg/kWh, dibandingkan camshaft racing 0,092 kg/kWh, pada putaran mesin 2500 rpm konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik camshaft standard menurun drastis menjadi 0,062 kg/kWh, dan camshaft racing menjadi 0,070 kg/kWh, pada putaran mesin 4500 rpm terjadi peningkatan pada camshaft racing yaitu sebesar 0,091 kg/kWh, Terakhir pada putaran mesin 6500 rpm camshaft racing memiliki konsumsi bahan bakar  spesifik yang lebih besar 0,186 kg/kWh, dan camshaft standard menjadi 0,135 kg /kWh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada camshaft standard emisi gas buang  CO 0,03% dan HC 27 ppm. Pada camshaft racing emisi gas buang  CO 0,13% dan HC 236 ppm

Abstract

The preliminary analysis results indicate that the quality of automotive vocational learning is not optimal. This study aims to develop a work-based learning model that incorporates the Teaching Factory concept (WBL-TEFA) with the goal of enhancing the learning achievement of automotive vocational students. Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D model were implemented in this study. The results indicate that the WBL-TEFA learning model introduced novel elements to the model syntax through the following activity steps: (1) initiation, (2) receiving orders, (3) gathering necessary information, (4) generating and sorting possible solutions, (5) executing orders, (6) quality control, and (7) assessment. To implement this syntax, various supporting materials were developed, including model handbooks, lecturer and student manuals, and textbooks. Following the implementation, the experimental class demonstrated a significantly higher learning achievement gain score of 51.62 compared to the control class, which achieved a gain score of 42.52. Additionally, there was an improvement in task management abilities, work environment skills, interpersonal skills, workplace learning skills, and student critical thinking. In summary, the utilization of the WBL-TEFA learning model proved effective in enhancing students' academic performance, as evidenced by a statistically significant.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low work readiness achieved by students who graduated from SMK. The purpose of this study was to determine the work readiness of students of SMKN 1 Batipuh Tanah Datar Regency in terms of the role of guidance in providing career guidance at school. This type of research with a descriptive correlational approach aims to describe and interpret data about the influence of the role of guidance teachers on students' work readiness in the career guidance process at SMKN 1 Batipuh. The research subjects were class XI students of all fields of expertise registered in semester 1 of the 2022/2023 school year at SMKN 1 Batipuh, totalling 52 students. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics with percentage calculations and simple regression. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a positive influence between the role of career guidance teachers on the work readiness of students of SMKN 1 Batipuh. The results shown by the value of rxy = 0.568 compared to the interpretation table r, the level of relationship is moderate. Significance obtained titung = 4.816. The test criteria used are tcount> ttable then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted based on the t-distribution table for degrees of freedom (dk = n-2) 33, obtained ttable = (α = 0.05) = 1.697. Thus Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so the hypothesis states "There is a positive influence between the role of career guidance and counselling on the work readiness of Class XI students of all study programs at SMKN 1 Batipuh in the 2022/2023 academic year". The role of career guidance and counselling has an influence of 32.26% on the work readiness of students of SMKN 1 Batipuh and 67.74% of students' work readiness is influenced by other factors such as motivation, skills and others that exist in the student's social life environment.

Abstract

Meskipun terdapat kekurangan seperti ketersediaan meja dan kursi yang kurang memadai, serta kerusakan pada beberapa media pendidikan, secara keseluruhan, fasilitas tersebut masih memenuhi standar yang ditetapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kondisi sarana dan prasarana praktik pemeliharaan chasis dan sistem pemindahan tenaga di SMK Negeri 1 Padang. Penelitian ini didesain dengan memakai metode deskriptif. Objek penelitian ini merupakan alat serta bahan praktik mata pelajaran praktik pemeliharaan chasis dan sistem pemindahan tenaga jurusan teknik kendaraan ringan teknik otomotif. Analisis uji kelayakan mencapai sekitar skor 77% pada taraf sangat layak serta sarana mencapai skor 89% pada prasarana dengan taraf sangat layak. Temuan ini menunjukkan dukungan yang baik untuk proses pembelajaran. Prasarana praktik cukup memadai, meskipun perlu peningkatan. Meskipun jarang dilakukan, pengadaan peralatan dan material dilakukan setiap tahun. Despite shortcomings such as inadequate availability of tables and chairs, as well as damage to some educational media, overall, the facilities still meet the established standards. This study aims to evaluate the condition of facilities and infrastructure chassis maintenance practices and power transfer systems at SMK Negeri 1 Padang. This study was designed using a descriptive method. The object of this research is tools and practical materials for chassis maintenance practice subjects and power transfer systems majoring in light vehicle engineering, automotive engineering. The feasibility test analysis achieved around a score of 77% at a very feasible level and the facilities achieved a score of 89% on infrastructure with a very decent level. These findings show good support for the learning process. The practical infrastructure is adequate, although it needs improvement. Although rarely carried out, the procurement of equipment and materials is carried out annually.

Abstract

This research aims to develop learning media in the form of an intelligent fuel system simulator, namely electronic fuel injection (EFI) on motorbikes, which focuses on developing the addition of Quick Response (QR) codes as additional information from the simulator, which is connected to video on the YouTube platform. With the help of the QR code, it is scanned using a smartphone so that the QR code can be connected directly to YouTube, providing additional information about the Smart simulator EFI system on motorbikes. This research was carried out by applying the Research and Development method and following the Plomp model, which consists of the following stages: (1) preliminary investigation, (2) designing and making a prototype, and (3) assessment. The existing simulator was developed by adding a QR code, and the QR code will be connected to videos that have been uploaded on the YouTube platform. QR codes are created using the online QR code generator platform. Assessment of the smart simulator is carried out through a questionnaire filled out by media experts and subject experts, as well as through observation sheets during smart simulator testing. The research results are a smart simulator product for EFI fuel on motorbikes equipped with a QR code. Evaluation by media and material experts shows that the smart simulator is declared valid. Meanwhile, the results of observations during product testing show that the smart simulator can describe the characteristics of the EFI fuel system on a motorbike according to the actual situation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh penggunaan model belajar Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas XI di SMK Negeri 1 Padang pada jurusan Teknik Kendaraan Ringan Otomotif (TKRO) selama tahun ajaran 2024–2025. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Dari 85 siswa kelas XI TKRO yang menjadi populasi dalam penelitian ini, sebanyak 56 siswa dijadikan sebagai sampel penelitian. Temuan studi menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap hasil belajar siswa di kelas XI TKRO SMK Negeri 1 Padang.  This research aims to find out the effect of the problem-based learning model on the learning outcomes of Automotive Light Vehicle Engineering, students in the XI grade at SMK Negeri 1 Padang for the 2024/2025 academic year. The researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method in this study. The population for this research is 85 XI grade TKRO students, with 56 students selected as the research sample. Based on the research results and discussion, it can be concluded that there is an effect on learning outcomes using the problem-based learning model on XI grade TKRO students at SMK Negeri 1 Padang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengembangan media video pembelajaran yang memenuhi kriteria validitas dan kepraktisan guna mendukung proses pembelajaran pada mata kuliah Teknik Pengkondisian Udara. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah R&D (Research and Development) dengan model penelitian 4D (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). Hasil dari penelitian ini berupa media video pembelajaran yang telah di validasi oleh validator materi dan validator media serta praktikalitas media diuji melalui penerapan pada mahasiswa. Penilaian dari validator materi mendapatkan nilai 96% pada klasifikasi sangat valid dan hasil penilaian dari validator media mendapatkan nilai 94,4% pada klasifikasi sangat valid juga. Selain itu, uji praktikalitas mahasiswa yang dilakukan kepada 30 orang responden mendapatkan nilai 87% pada klasifikasi praktis. Jadi, dapat di ambil kesimpulan video pembelajaran yang peneliti kembangkan sangat valid dan praktis digunakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman tentang cara kerja AC mobil. This research focuses on developing learning video media that meets the criteria of validity and practicality to support the learning process in Air Conditioning Engineering course. The research method used is R&D (Research and Development) with a 4D research model (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). The results of this study are the form of learning video media that have been validated by the material validator and media validator and the practicality of the media is tested through application to students. The assessment from the material validator got a score 96% in the very valid classification and the results of the assessment from the media validator got a score of 94.4% in the very valid classification as well. In addition, the student practicality test conducted on 30 respondents got a score of 87% in the practical classification. So, it can be concluded that the learning video that the researcher developed is very valid and practical to use to improve understanding of how car AC works.

Abstract

Developing a QR Code-assisted simulator for Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) systems aims to enhance teachers' and students' understanding of EFI technology in automotive education. EFI is a technology that electronically regulates vehicle fuel supply based on data collected from engine sensors. In practice, learning about EFI often requires expensive and hard-to-access physical equipment. Therefore, the QR Code-based simulator was developed as an innovative solution. This simulator enables students and teachers to access interactive content about the components and workings of the EFI system by scanning QR Codes linked to digital simulations. This approach makes the learning process more practical, interactive, and accessible. Research findings indicate that using this simulator significantly improves students' understanding of EFI concepts. Teachers also benefit from this tool, making teaching materials more engaging and comprehensible. This technology addresses the limitations of practical equipment, giving students a better opportunity to deeply understand EFI systems without relying on costly physical devices.
