Abstract

The System of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SLETV) is one of the essential topics in mathematics that often presents challenges for students to understand. Interventions in the learning process can be made by designing a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) based on Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI), integrating local context to enhance student understanding. This study aims to describe the design of an HLT for the SLETV topic using the context of Jakabaring tourism in Palembang, which is relevant to students' daily lives. The method used is design research, consisting of three stages: preliminary design, design experiment (pilot experiment and teaching experiment), and retrospective analysis. The subjects of this study are 30 eighth-grade students from SMPN 9 Palembang. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The HLT was compared with the Local Instructional Theory (LIT) that emerged during the learning process. The study results show that using the Jakabaring tourism context can facilitate students in understanding the SLETV concepts, formulating mathematical models from contextual problems, and solving these problems systematically while also introducing the relevance of SLETV to real-life situations.

Abstract

Abstract

The subjects of the study were class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Palembang. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that uses observation, test, and interview data collection techniques. In analyzing observation data, the researcher will create a brief description based on the results of interviews or field notes. For test data analysis, the researcher will describe the subjects' abilities in mathematical reasoning, and for interview data analysis, the researcher will transcribe the interview results into written form. The research results show that the implementation of problem-based learning on the material of systems of linear inequalities in two variables, assisted by AI Symbolab, can develop students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This is evident from the students' ability to present mathematical statements in writing through mathematical models, propose several conjectures in their answers, conduct mathematical manipulations using AI Symbolab, compile evidence or reasons for the correctness of the solutions to the conjectures put forward, and draw conclusions from the steps they have taken.

Abstract

Creativity in mathematics is one of the abilities that students in solving a problem must master. With creativity, students can develop their ideas to produce various solutions. However, in reality, the ability to think creatively is still low. This is because teacher-centred learning does not provide opportunities for students to develop their ideas creatively. Therefore, this study aims to describe the emergence of indicators of students' creative thinking abilities in solving mathematical problems on reflection material using the Palembang songket context. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research subject, namely 3 class IX students. The research was carried out in three stages, namely, the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the data analysis stage. The data in this study were collected through written tests and interviews. A written test was conducted to measure students' creative thinking skills data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion will be analyzed in three stages. The study found that fluency, flexibility, and elaboration were the most commonly used indicators of students' creative thinking abilities. Meanwhile, for the authenticity indicator, only one subject melts the indicator. Keywords:  Student Creativity, Reflection Material, Context
