Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Local Instructional Theory (LIT) pada materi persamaan linear di kelas VIII SMP menggunakan pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) dengan konteks kuliner Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode design research tipe validation studies yang terdiri atas tiga tahap, yaitu preparing for the experiment, design experiment (yang meliputi pilot experiment dan teaching experiment), serta retrospective analysis. Subjek penelitian adalah 30 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Palembang tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, catatan lapangan, dan dokumentasi. Pada tahap awal disusun Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) berbasis PMRI yang kemudian diuji dan direvisi melalui pilot experiment. Hasil pilot experiment menunjukkan bahwa LKS yang dirancang belum sepenuhnya mendukung pemahaman siswa dalam menyusun persamaan linear. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan, hasil teaching experiment menunjukkan bahwa siswa mampu menyusun dan menyelesaikan persamaan linear dengan berbagai strategi, seperti substitusi, operasi dasar, dan penggunaan tabel. Hasil retrospective analysis menunjukkan bahwa lintasan belajar siswa sesuai dengan HLT yang direvisi dan mendukung terbentuknya LIT yang lebih baik dan relevan. Dengan demikian, pendekatan PMRI melalui konteks kuliner Sumatera Selatan dapat membantu siswa memahami konsep persamaan linear secara lebih bermakna.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika sering kali terputus dari pengalaman nyata siswa, membuat mereka kesulitan memahami konsep abstrak, seperti bilangan bulat dan operasinya. Ketidakpahaman siswa terhadap bilangan positif, negatif, serta operasi aritmetika sering menjadi hambatan utama dalam pembelajaran. Pendekatan PMRI menggarisbawahi pentingnya menggunakan konteks dunia nyata untuk menjembatani pemahaman ini, dengan permainan tradisional jejmok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menguji Desain Local Instruction Trajectory (LIT) berbasis permainan tradisional Jejamok, untuk mengajarkan operasi bilangan bulat. Selain itu, penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh pembelajaran berbasis permainan terhadap penguasaan konsep bilangan bulat siswa serta mengevaluasi peran lesson study dalam meningkatkan kualitas perancangan dan implementasi aktivitas pembelajaran berbasis permainan pada siswa kelas 6 SDIT Insan Rabbani, Kotabumi, Lampung Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Design Research dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Tipe penelitian yang digunakan adalah Validation Studies dengan tiga tahap utama: Preparing for the Experiment, Design Experiment, dan Retrospective Analysis. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan tes Teknik analisis data mengikuti model Miles dan Huberman yang mencakup reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian sebanyak 82% siswa telah menunjukkan penguasaan konsep. Hal ini berarti pendekatan berbasis permainan tradisional Jejamok efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep bilangan bulat. Lesson study berperan signifikan dalam menyempurnakan desain pembelajaran, melalui proses kolaborasi antara guru, peneliti, dan rekan sejawat. Penelitian ini mendukung temuan sebelumnya yang menyatakan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis konteks budaya lokal dan kolaborasi dalam lesson study dapat meningkatkan efektivitas pengajaran konsep matematika

Abstract

Arithmetic sequences are an important topic in mathematics that requires conceptual understanding. However, in classroom practice, this material is often taught without meaningful real-world contexts, leading students to memorize formulas rather than understand underlying concepts. Therefore, this study aimed to design arithmetic sequence learning using the PMRI approach in the context of the Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium. This study employed qualitative design research consisting of three stages: preliminary design, design experiment (pilot and teaching experiment), and retrospective analysis. The participants were 34 eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 12 Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Data were collected through classroom observations, students’ activity sheets (LKPD), and semi-structured interviews, and analyzed descriptively by comparing the initial Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) with the actual learning trajectory. The findings show that the stadium context supported students in progressively constructing the concept of arithmetic sequences, moving from concrete representations of seating arrangements to identifying constant differences and formulating the nth-term expression through guided reinvention. The activities promoted self-generated models that bridged informal reasoning and formal mathematical representation. This research produced learning design for arithmetic sequence material based on real contexts, which serves as an alternative for teachers in implementing PMRI.

Abstract

The use of real-world contexts in RME learning makes the concepts learned by students more meaningful. In this research, a cinema, which is relevant to students' lives are used as learning contexts. This research aims to develop a learning trajectory based on the RME approach using cinema context to help students understand the concept of translation. The research method used in this study is a design research validation study type with 33 ninth-th grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Palembang as subjects. Data collection techniques used include observation data collection techniques, interviews, field notes, and documentation. This study produces a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) that can help students understand the translation concept. The resulting HLT includes four activities, namely observing contextual problems in cinemas as a starting point in understanding the concept of translation, identifying the cinema seats position as the initial points to be translated, drawing the cinema layout in cartesian coordinates to find the relationship between the coordinates of the translated point and the initial point, generalizing the shifts of the seat position to discover the concept of translation.

Abstract

This study reports a validation study within design research aimed at developing a PMRI-based augmented reality (AR) learning trajectory to support high school students’ problem-solving skills in circle geometry. The subjects of this study were 35 eleventh-grade students at a senior high school in Palembang. The research employed a design research methodology, specifically a validation study, consisting of three phases: preliminary design, design experiment, and retrospective analysis. Data were collected from worksheets, classroom observations, and problem-solving tests, and analyzed descriptively using qualitative and quantitative approaches. This study produced a learning trajectory consisting of a sequence of contextual and AR-assisted learning activities that guided students from exploring real-world circular situations to formal circle concepts. The implementation of this trajectory resulted in measurable improvements in students’ problem-solving skills, as indicated by an increase in mean test scores from 19.37 in the pre-test to 66.51 in the post-test. Students demonstrated strong performance in understanding problems, devising solution plans, and carrying out solution strategies, with achievement percentages ranging from 71% to 100% on these indicators. However, students’ evaluation and reflection skills remained relatively low, indicating the need for greater emphasis on reflective activities within the learning trajectory.

Abstract

This study aims to design a learning trajectory for probability using the context of ice cream sticks through the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. The method employed is design research of the validation study type, consisting of preliminary design, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis. Data were collected through student activity sheets and interviews involving 31 ninth-grade students. The results indicate that the designed learning trajectory facilitates a gradual shift in students’ reasoning from informal to formal probability concepts. At the initial stage, students identified possible outcomes through concrete activities involving colored sticks. They then constructed sample spaces by listing outcomes and representing them using tables and tree diagrams in two-stage experiments. At the model-for stage, students were able to determine the total number of possible outcomes and distinguish between types of events, although some difficulties were observed in understanding sampling with replacement. At the formal stage, most students expressed probability as a ratio of favorable outcomes to the total sample space and represented it using symbolic notation. Retrospective analysis shows that the Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) is valid in supporting students’ conceptual development, particularly in bridging contextual understanding and formal representation. However, teacher guidance remains necessary in constructing complete sample spaces and interpreting probability as a ratio. This study contributes a practical context-based learning trajectory for implementing RME in probability learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendesain lintasan belajar (learning trajectory) pada materi peluang menggunakan konteks stik es krim melalui pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Metode yang digunakan adalah design research tipe validation study yang terdiri dari tahap preliminary design, teaching experiment, dan retrospective analysis. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar aktivitas siswa dan wawancara dengan melibatkan 31 siswa kelas IX. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lintasan belajar yang dirancang mampu mendukung pergeseran penalaran siswa secara bertahap dari konsep peluang informal menuju formal. Pada tahap awal, siswa mengidentifikasi kemungkinan hasil melalui aktivitas konkret mengenali warna stik. Selanjutnya, siswa mengonstruksi ruang sampel dengan menuliskan seluruh kemungkinan dan merepresentasikannya dalam bentuk tabel serta diagram pohon pada percobaan dua tahap. Pada tahap model-for, siswa mulai mampu menentukan banyaknya seluruh kemungkinan kejadian dan membedakan jenis-jenis kejadian, meskipun masih ditemukan kesulitan dalam memahami konsep pengambilan dengan pengembalian. Pada tahap formal, sebagian besar siswa mampu menyatakan peluang sebagai perbandingan antara banyaknya kejadian yang diinginkan dengan seluruh kemungkinan serta menuliskannya dalam bentuk notasi simbolik. Hasil retrospective analysis menunjukkan bahwa Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) yang dikembangkan valid dalam mendukung perkembangan pemahaman konsep siswa, khususnya dalam menjembatani transisi dari penalaran kontekstual menuju representasi matematis formal. Namun demikian, intervensi guru melalui pertanyaan penuntun masih diperlukan, terutama dalam membantu siswa menyusun ruang sampel secara lengkap dan memahami peluang sebagai suatu perbandingan. Penelitian ini menghasilkan desain lintasan belajar materi peluang berbasis konteks yang praktis dan dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran berbasis RME di kelas.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of three mathematics textbooks on the topic of Polyhedrons, namely two textbooks from Indonesia (KTSP 2006 and Kurikulum Merdeka 2022) and one textbook from Singapore (New Syllabus Mathematics 2018). The method used is descriptive comparative with document analysis techniques. The focus of the study includes the presentation of facts, concepts, and principles, as well as question analysis based on Bloom’s Taxonomy cognitive levels, alignment with the PISA framework, and problem-solving components. The results indicate that the Kurikulum Merdeka textbook stands out in its variety of cognitive levels (C1–C6) and integration of PISA-type questions. The KTSP textbook follows a more deductive approach and lacks higher-order thinking questions, while the Singaporean textbook balances inductive and deductive approaches but only covers C3–C4 levels. All three textbooks include problem-solving tasks with varying levels of complexity. These findings offer insights for the development of more effective and context-based mathematics textbooks.

Abstract

Abstract. Digital transformation in education requires teachers and student teachers to master technology skills as an innovative learning medium. The workshop “Fun and Smart! Mastering Fractions with TikTok” was held as part of a community service activity with the aim of improving participants’ digital competence in designing educational content based on social media. This activity used a service learning approach and was carried out online via Zoom and Google Classroom. A total of 207 participants, consisting of teachers and mathematics education students from various levels, attended the training session in the form of presentations, interactive discussions, and assignments to make fraction learning videos using the TikTok application. The results of the questionnaire showed a positive response from participants towards the implementation of the workshop. A total of 63.6% stated that the facilitator mastered the material well and created an interactive learning environment; 59.1% considered the material relevant and applicable in their work; and 50% felt more confident in applying the knowledge from the workshop. Although only 45.5% of participants considered that the workshop directly improved performance or that TikTok was effective for fraction learning, enthusiasm for this approach remained high. Overall, this workshop proved effective in increasing participants' understanding of the use of social media as a learning tool, as well as providing contextual, enjoyable, and relevant digital learning experiences. This activity strengthens the role of teachers and students as adaptive educators in the digital era.   Abstrak. Transformasi digital dalam pendidikan menuntut guru dan mahasiswa calon guru untuk menguasai keterampilan teknologi sebagai media pembelajaran yang inovatif. Workshop “Seru dan Cerdas! Menguasai Pecahan dengan TikTok” diselenggarakan sebagai bagian dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan tujuan meningkatkan kompetensi digital peserta dalam merancang konten edukatif berbasis media sosial. Kegiatan ini menggunakan pendekatan service learning dan dilaksanakan secara daring melalui Zoom dan Google Classroom. Sebanyak 207 peserta, terdiri dari guru dan mahasiswa pendidikan matematika dari berbagai jenjang, mengikuti sesi pelatihan berupa presentasi, diskusi interaktif, dan penugasan pembuatan video pembelajaran pecahan menggunakan aplikasi TikTok. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan respons positif dari peserta terhadap pelaksanaan workshop. Sebanyak 63,6% menyatakan fasilitator menguasai materi dengan baik dan menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang interaktif; 59,1% menilai materi relevan dan dapat diterapkan dalam pekerjaan; serta 50% merasa lebih percaya diri dalam mengaplikasikan ilmu dari workshop. Meskipun hanya 45,5% peserta menilai bahwa workshop secara langsung meningkatkan kinerja atau bahwa TikTok efektif untuk pembelajaran pecahan, antusiasme terhadap pendekatan ini tetap tinggi. Secara keseluruhan, workshop ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman peserta terhadap pemanfaatan media sosial sebagai sarana pembelajaran, serta memberikan pengalaman belajar digital yang kontekstual, menyenangkan, dan relevan. Kegiatan ini memperkuat peran guru dan mahasiswa sebagai pendidik adaptif di era digital.
