Abstract

Indonesia has made significant strides towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) with the implementation of the Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN) program. However, achieving equitable health outcomes across diverse socioeconomic and geographic groups remains a challenge. This study investigates the longitudinal impact of UHC policies on key health equity metrics in Indonesia. This study employed a longitudinal, quasi-experimental design using a difference-in-differences (DID) approach. Data were collected from a nationally representative sample of Indonesian households from 2014 (pre-JKN expansion) to 2022. The dataset included socioeconomic indicators (wealth quintiles, education, geographic location), health service utilization (antenatal care visits, skilled birth attendance, immunization rates), and health outcomes (under-five mortality rate, stunting prevalence). The DID analysis compared changes in these metrics between groups with varying levels of pre-existing health insurance coverage and socioeconomic status. Multivariable regression models were used to control for confounding factors. The DID analysis showed that UHC expansion was associated with significant improvements in health service utilization, particularly among lower socioeconomic groups. Antenatal care visits increased by an estimated 15% (95% CI: 12-18%) in the lowest wealth quintile compared to a 5% (95% CI: 3-7%) increase in the highest quintile. Skilled birth attendance similarly increased disproportionately among disadvantaged groups. However, while under-five mortality and stunting prevalence decreased overall, significant disparities persisted. The reduction in under-five mortality was smaller in the lowest wealth quintile (10% reduction, 95% CI: 7-13%) compared to the highest (18% reduction, 95% CI: 15-21%). Regression models confirmed that socioeconomic status remained a significant predictor of health outcomes even after controlling for UHC coverage. In conclusion, while Indonesia's UHC policies have improved access to healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable populations, significant health equity gaps remain. Addressing these disparities requires a multi-pronged approach that goes beyond financial protection and includes targeted interventions to address social determinants of health, improve health service quality, and enhance health literacy among disadvantaged communities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide empirical evidence about the effect of financial rewards, work environment, and labor market considerations on the intention to become a government accountant (a case study on an undergraduate accounting student at Padang State University). This study used a quantitative research method. Data obtained from primary data by distributing questionnaires using incidental sampling techniques and using the slovin formula. The population in this study were active students of the Padang State University Bachelor of Accounting study program in 2018/2020 using 78 samples in this study consisting of Bachelor of Accounting students at Padang State University. The results of this study produce a coefficient of determination which indicates that the influence of financial rewards, work environment and labor market considerations have an effect on interest in becoming a government accountant by 52.1% while 47.9% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the consumption patterns of Generation Z and how they relate to inflation from an Islamic economics perspective. A library research strategy is used in this investigation. Information was gathered from a number of sources, such as books, journals, and other problem-related scientific resources. The results indicate that Gen Z's consumption habits could lead to demand-pull inflation, or an increase in inflation. Prices rise when the supply cannot keep up with the substantial increase in demand for products and services brought on by consumer behavior. When Gen Z consumes technology, fashion, entertainment, and food items all of which are frequently popular and seasonal this issue becomes more noticeable. Consumption is controlled in Islamic economics to avoid becoming wasteful (tabzir) or excessive (israf). Needs (maslahah), not only wants or carnal emotions, must be the basis for consumption. The primary remedy, according to Islamic economics, is to emphasize beneficial consumption, Islamic-based money management, and bolstering social and spiritual values in order to curb consumption and prevent detrimental effects on people or the economy.

Abstract

Food availability is one of the key indicators in achieving sustainable household food security. This community service activity was conducted in Kampung Pekijing, Kalang Anyar Subdistrict, with the aim of increasing public awareness and understanding of the importance of utilizing home yards for cassava (Manihot esculenta) cultivation as a practical effort to support local food availability. The method included educational outreach, participatory discussions, and the administration of pre-test and post-test questionnaires to 40 respondents. The results showed a significant improvement in the community's knowledge regarding the nutritional and economic benefits of cassava. A total of 100% of respondents expressed interest in reducing their dependence on rice, while 97.5% felt motivated to plant cassava in their home yards. The negative stigma that perceives cassava as a low-nutrient food decreased markedly from 52.5% to 12.5% after the session. These findings indicate that direct and contextual education effectively enhances community readiness to support food availability using accessible local resources. This program contributes positively to the development of community-based food security in an independent and sustainable manner.

Abstract

Indonesia boasts an incredible wealth of biodiversity, positioning it as a promising source of natural compounds with significant biological activities. Its flora harbors a wide array of secondary metabolites including alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, and terpenoids that hold immense potential for pharmaceutical and health applications. However, to utilize these bioactive molecules effectively, efficient methods for their extraction, separation, and purification are essential. Chromatography techniques such as thin-layer chromatography (TLC), column chromatography, and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) are widely recognized as the most effective approaches for isolating and characterizing these valuable compounds. This article offers a comprehensive review of the existing literature on the chromatographic processes applied in isolating active constituents from medicinal plants. It systematically examines different methodologies adopted for extraction, separation, and identification, critically assessing their strengths and limitations. The review covers how plant materials are prepared, solvents and mobile phases optimized, stationary phases selected, and detection systems employed to achieve high-purity isolates. By comparing outcomes across studies, it illustrates the efficiency of TLC in preliminary screening, the flexibility of column chromatography in bulk separation, and the high resolution and reproducibility offered by HPLC. Results from multiple research efforts demonstrate that these chromatographic techniques can consistently yield pure compounds suitable for further pharmacological testing. The purified isolates not only exhibit potential therapeutic effects but also meet quality standards necessary for development into safe and effective natural medicines. The review highlights best practices in methodology selection, solvent systems, and instrument conditions tailored to specific metabolite classes. Ultimately, this synthesis emphasizes that chromatography plays a pivotal role in unlocking the pharmaceutical potential of Indonesia’s natural biodiversity.
