Forestry partnership is a social forestry scheme as an attempt resolution of conflict society and permit holders. The objective of the research to explain the forestry partnership program conducted by PT REKI and the people of Dusun Kunangan Jaya I. This research used a qualitative research approach. The methods of data collection include in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document studies. The results of the research showed a forestry partnership carried out by PT REKI and KTH Berkah Jaya, KTH Bungin Mandiri and indigenous people of Batin Sembilan. The agroforestry pattern is applied to partnership lands. The percentage of forestry partnership outcomes, 85% for the community and 15% for PT REKI. The rights and obligations that have not been achieved have an impact on hampering agroforestry management. The limited funding of  PT REKI, which depends on donors as a source of income causing the forestry partnership program has not been maximized. PT REKI in supporting forestry partnership provides various facilities including the provision of forestry plant seeds, cattle, education, and health services community empowerment. The rejection of forestry partnership cooperation carried out by most of the community because of mismatch between the expectation of community and PT REKI. The performance of the government in forest monitoring needs to be improved to support forestry partnerships to cut down land conflicts while improving community welfare.Forestry partnership is a social forestry scheme as an attempt resolution of conflict society and permit holders. Abstract

Gapoktan institutions have important roles, including its functions to regulate community activities, individually or in groups, on managing community forests. This study aims to explain the management of HKm based on the role of gapoktan institutions. The research methodologies are interview and documentation study. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. Results showed that institutionally Gapoktan has a complete administration and written rules regarding the management of HKm. Each farmer member is required to work on land with agroforestry patterns dominated by MPTS plants. Gapoktan has a farming business that functions to help market forest products. Farming management is divided into two, namely individual businesses and gapoktan businesses. Until now there has been no significant development of farming in the last two years. Therefore, the government needs to conduct counseling to increase knowledge about farming so that they can market forest products more optimally.

Abstract

Human and wildlife conflicts have a negative impact, especially langurs whose habitat in a small island. The study objective was to identify presence and the distribution of langurs in a small island. Data were collected using observation methods, then analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results show that there were 23 langur groups that distributed in 23 locations, with the number of smallest groups consisting of 6 individuals and the number of largest groups consisting of 12 individuals. Langur was found in the morning at 05.38 WIB-10.57 WIB and in the afternoon at 17.08 WIB-18.10 WIB. Most of these animals are found in agroforestry areas and a small part in mangrove forests. The highest activity intensity is found in the morning with the form of eating, locomotion (moving), grooming and resting activities. The existence of langurs in a small island is a good thing and must be preserved because langurs belong to protected animals. One way to conserve these animals is to create alternative conservation-based langur tourism.

Abstract

Human-elephant conflict occurs due to the release of elephants from forest areas and into human settlements so that there is no balance between human and elephant welfare. This research was conducted to determine how people's perceptions of human-elephant conflict that occurred around the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park forest area during October 2020-November 2020. Structured interviews were collected for data collection, 45 respondents were selected by purposive sampling based on the slovin formula. Data analysis was performed using a Likert scale. The results showed that most of the community agreed with the indicator if human-elephant conflict was detrimental to humans (4.75) and reduced the community's economy (4.6). The conflict between humans and elephants creates negative perceptions of the community towards elephants, which are animals that eat and destroy plants. However, the community still has an awareness of the preservation of elephants so that they have a positive perception of elephants in the form of animals that need to be protected and can be used as tourist objects. The community will carry out a blockade and blockade if the elephants will enter the residential area to suppress the amount of conflict that occurs..

Abstract

The landscape of volcanic and geothermal energy which has an attractive object and unique ecotourism is very important for geo-tourism destination. Nevertheless the use of geothermal so far in Indonesia including Kawah Kamojang only for electricity production which is still not optimal, but it has the potential of tourism in the form of craters geothermal and other potential tourist activity. The research is needed to discuss the spectrum of tourism opportunities in Kawah Kamojang forest. The method for this study is Recreation Opportunity Spectrum (ROS), which was developed by the U.S. Forest Service. The result is a spectrum of geothermal potential ecotourism developed in integrated 6 ecotourism sites such as Geothermal Installation, TWA Kawah Kamojang, Situ Ciharus, Situ Cibeureum, Tourism Village, and Eagle Conservation Center. Some programs and tourism activities may be able to be potentially developed such as camping, jungle trekking, hiking, swimming, fishing, flora and fauna sighting, hot water bath, educational, culinary and cultural tourism. The constraints on developing geotourism are facilities and services, management, social and collision with applicable regulations. Therefore, there should be a joint effort and collective work between central government, local government, private sector, NGOs, educational institutions/ universities, and local communities towards this plan.

Abstract

The sustainability of forest functions is closely related to the perspective of the communities living around it. This study aims to analyze community perspectives on forest conditions in KTH Talang Ponijan and Sidodadi I. Data was collected using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results of the research show that there are still differences between the community's views and their behavior towards community forest management (HKm). Most people in KTH Talang Ponijan and Sidodadi I utilize HKm land to improve their welfare. However, conditions in the field reveal that illegal practices such as logging, poaching, opening up new land for cultivation, and unsustainable land management threaten the balance of nature and worsen forest conditions. The government is expected to provide environmental education programs and facilitate training or guidance to strengthen the community's capacity to manage and utilize forests wisely.

Abstract

Non-timber forest product resources are valuable to communities around the forest which are more useful than wood in the long term and can provide good benefits from the ecosystem for sustainability, conservation, and the economy. The research aims to identify the types and economic value of non-timber forest products commodities from Conservation Partnership Forest Farmer Groups in Wan Abdul Rachman Forest Park. Data collection was carried out using interviews, literature studies and documentation. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using a Likert Scale. The method used is to calculate the economic value of each type of non-timber forest product and group it based on the highest commodity. According to the research findings, the primary commodities of Mekar Sari Forest Farmer Group are nutmeg, coffee, and cacao, while Wana Karya Forest Farmer Group's are rubber, petai, and king fruit, and Maju Lestari Forest Farmer Group's are king fruit, nutmeg, and coffee. Coffee has an economic impact of 25.01% at Mekar Sari Forest Farmer Group, 30.58% at Wana Karya Forest Farmer Group, and 36.03% at Maju Lestari Forest Farmer Group. The economic values of Forest Farmer Groups are IDR 209,375,000/year, IDR 971,444,000/year, and IDR 313,384,200. According to the calculation method, the average revenue earned from non-timber forest products is IDR 6,979,166/household/year, IDR 28,571,882/household/year, and IDR 10,594,906/household/year.

Abstract

Bamboo is one of the most abundant non-timber resources, flourishing globally across tropical and subtropical regions. Its increasing appeal lies in its environmental sustainability, robust mechanical properties, and high recyclability. Nonetheless, bamboo's inherent hydrophilicity presents significant challenges, particularly in achieving optimal compatibility for applications such as construction materials. Economic and environmentally friendly heat treatment techniques have emerged as pivotal strategies for improving bamboo's surface properties. This article comprehensively reviews the effects of varying thermal treatment conditions, including temperature, duration, and medium, on bamboo's structural characteristics.
