Abstract

Gunung Pujut Ancient Mosque is one of the cultural heritages in Lombok Island. This study aims to determine the diversity and conservation status of plants in the Gunung Pujut Ancient Mosque area. The research was conducted through direct observation, calculation of diversity index and dominance index, and tracing the conservation status of plant species. There are 29 families, 31 genera, and 34 plant species in the Gunung Pujut Ancient Mosque area. This is a stable ecosystem because it has a high diversity of plants. This shows that the cultural heritage area of the Gunung Pujut Ancient Mosque is a suitable habitat for the growth and development of various plant species and plays a role in supporting biodiversity conservation. There is no ecological pressure in this area because it has low plant dominance index.

Abstract

Graphical Abstract Highlight Research Highlights from this results research: Restoration is a method to restore degraded mangrove ecosystems The success of restoration is measured by improvements in ecosystem services such as water quality, mangrove diversity, phytoplankton community structure and diversity Phytoplankton as bioindicator of water quality Anthropogenic activities are the main factor causing degradation of mangrove ecosystems Abstract The mangrove ecosystems in Bawean Island are degraded due to anthropogenic activities and land conversion. Plantation has carried out periodic which was continued in several mangrove ecosystems. This study was conducted to evaluate the physicochemical water quality of several mangrove ecosystems in Bawean Island, and phytoplankton as bioindicators. The evaluation of mangroves in Bawean Island was carried out at 11 locations based on different naturalness and human activities surrounding. The physical and chemical parameters of water observed were air temperature, water temperature, pH, TSS, dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), salinity, conductivity, nitrate, and orthophosphate. Community structure and plankton diversity measured include the Importance Value Index (IVI), Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), Simpson dominance index (Id), evenness index (E), trophic diatom index (TDI), and pollution tolerant value (% PTV). The physical parameters of water chemistry show that it meets the quality standards based on Indonesian Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 except for nitrate and orthophosphate, but it is still under plankton tolerant. A total of 63 species from 7 phytoplankton classes were found based on the importance value index. Based on the TDI index, mangrove ecosystems Sawahmulya, Sidogedungbatu, Hijau Daun, Pamona, Pasir Putih, Sungai Rujing, Bangsal, Jherat Lanjheng, and Lebak were classified as eutrophic while Pulau Cina and Dekatagung were hyper-eutrophic. Based on %PTV, the Hijau Daun mangrove is the best mangrove ecosystem while other mangroves were classified as moderate and heavily level polluted.

Abstract

Agro-tourism is the potential sector that can be developed in rural areas for local economic enhancement, contributing to conservation, and awarding local wisdom. However, several problems in development cause agro-tourism not to be sustainable. This research aimed to describe the existing condition and assess the sustainability of coffee agro-tourism. We evaluate the existing condition and sustainability status by assessing ancillary, attractions, accessibility, amenities, economy, ecology and socio-culture. Respondents from this research were 141 respondents, and each respondent was interviewed with a questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted with two methods: descriptive analysis and MDS (Multidimensional Scaling). Existing conditions from the institutional aspect show that some agro-tourism does not have institutional legality, the main attraction is coffee plantations, accessibility is challenging to reach, amenities do not yet have quality according to standards, economic actors are the community, public perception of agro-tourism is very positive. MDS analysis status is very sustainable regarding economic aspects, with a score index of 76.82 %. Ecology, amenities, attractions, social culture and ancillary aspects show enough sustainable status with a score index of 71.01%, 67.73%, 67.59%, 67.58% and 59.97%. At the same time, the accessibility aspect shows a less sustainable status with an index of 33.49%. The results of the leverage analysis show 29 sensitive attributes are an influential key factor in sustainability.

Local community participation in tourism development has been identified crucial, but it was few discussed in South Malang Regency, East Java. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of the community in the development of natural tourism attraction along Southern corridors on East East Java from Balekambang to Sendang Biru. Field survey and interviews were implemented to generate infromation related to the types of local community participation in tourism along the corridor. This research shows that there are two important bodies in natural resources management that influeces the management of recreation sites mnagament, namely Office of Tourism of Malanag Regency and Perhutani KPH Malang. The form of community participation in the JLS Beach Tourism Corridor in South Malang tends to be dominated by the functional participation model. This participation model forms a community to jointly develop, give advice and plan tourist destinations as a form of appreciation for the existence of local community institutions but the decision makers in planning tourist destinations are dominated by parties outside the community, namely Perhutani.

Abstract

Samosir Island is known as the tourism center of Lake Toba Region that is managed based on DMO concept in 2010-2015. This study aims to identify the profile and tourism attractiveness  of Samosir Island, and toidentify and analyze the role of stakeholders through DMO. The researcher used descriptive methods, and used primary and secondary data collected by observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results showed that most of the tourism activities on Samosir Island are related to Batak culture so that local community has an important role in maintaining the sustainability of attractions. There has not been found any good cooperation relations between the government, local communities, and the private sector in the development of Samosir Island tourism. Local communities choose to manage resources especially cultural sites independently. Similar conditions are also found in the private sector where business activities have not been running wuth an appropriate management strategy. Lack of continous control by the local government causes a decrease in the quality of service providers related attractions, amenities, and accessibility.

Abstract

Examining ethnobotany in mountainous regions established as popular hiking destinations is essential for conservation initiatives. In this study, we aim to explore the ethnobotanical knowledge of the indigenous communities and to analyze the plant diversity in the ecotourism corridor to Mount Prau in Purwosari Village, Central Java, Indonesia. Ethnobotanical data was collected through semi-structured interviews with informants recruited via purposive sampling. An exploratory approach was used to inventory plant diversity along the ecotourism corridor of Mount Prau in Purwosari village. Our key informants comprised village officials, community leaders, Mount Prau caretakers, and basecamp managers. The findings indicated that the informants explained a total of 68 plant species, which were utilized by the community for various purposes. These plants served as valuable food sources, medicinal ingredients, and economic value, and they were also used for fodder, building materials, shade, and conservation purposes. In the ecotourism corridor in Purwosari village, which serves as the conservation trail for Mount Prau, a total of 117 plant species were identified through an inventory in this study. Finding some invasive alien plant species, such as Acacia decurens and Clidemia hirta, and an endangered species, Castanopsis argentea, highlights the importance of conservation efforts for protecting and preserving the diverse plant species found along the conservation trail to Mount Prau.
