Abstract

Abstract

This research has isolated one type of halophilic bacterial strain from the salt pond of Kajhu Village with the code KJ-AB2. This bacterium grew optimally at 10% (w/v) NaCl so it was classified as moderate halophilic bacteria. Several types of halophilic bacteria are known to produce biosurfactants. Biosurfactants are surface active agents that are widely used in several pharmaceutical, food dan petroleum industries. The production of biosurfactants is strongly influenced by the type of carbon source used for bacterial growth. Olive oil, palm oil, sunflower oil, glucose dan glycerol are types of carbon sources used to see their effect in producing biosurfactants. This isolate growed well on the five carbon sources with an average OD600 2.001±0.293 at 72 hours of fermentation. Biosurfactant production was measured by oil spreading test (OST) every 24 hours until 120 hours of fermentation. The highest OST value was obtained when KJ-AB2 isolate was grown on biosurfactant production media using olive oil, sunflower oil dan palm oil with an average OST value of 5.6±0.6 cm, 4.7±0.6 cm, dan 4.6±0.7 cm, respectively.

Abstract

To further improve achievement of the given learning objectives, chemistry learning requires instructional materials that encourage active engagement of students. The goal of this research was to create student worksheets based on Peer Led Team Learning (PLTL) on colloid material, to establish the validity of student worksheets based on PLTL on colloid material, and assess teacher and student responses to worksheets. PLTL based students on colloid material that has been developed. This research approach is known as research and development (R&D), and it is carried out utilizing the 4D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). Purposive sampling was used for the sample technique. The study was carried out at four schools: MAN 3, SMAN 5, SMAN 12, and SMAN 15 Adidarma Banda Aceh. Validating the practicality of student worksheets and questionnaire responses from teachers and students were used to obtain data. This study obtained the following results: (1) validation of the feasibility of student worksheets by expert validators of 92.3% and based on the chemistry teacher's assessment of 86.5% in the very good or valid category; (2) results of the teacher's responses to the students' worksheets obtained a percentage of 88.1% in the very good category; and (3) results of the students'responses to the students' worksheets obtained a percentage of 79.9% in the good category. Based on the findings, it is possible to infer that the student worksheet based on PLTL on colloid material is appropriate for use as teaching material on colloid material.

Abstract

This study titled "Application of Read-Answer-Discuss-Explain-Create (RADEC) Model on Buffer Solution Material at SMAS Inshafuddin Banda Aceh " aims to explain activities, analyze learning results, and describe student responses. This qualitative descriptive study was carried out at SMAS Inshafuddin, with 20 participants chosen through purposive sampling from class XI IPA 1. Observing activities, learning outcome exams, and student response questionnaires on the RADEC learning model were used to collect data. The data analysis technique for student activities was collected by giving observers observation sheets, learning outcomes were obtained by giving them multiple-choice questions, and student responses were obtained by giving them a questionnaire. Data analysis revealed that student actions in the first meeting were 78.8% in the good category, 85.98% in the good category in the second meeting, and 92.86% in the very good category in the third meeting. In the good group, the completeness of student learning outcomes was 77.8%. The very good category received 92.25% of the student responses. Based on the study's findings, it is possible to infer that student activities have improved, student learning outcomes have been completed, and students have responded well to the introduction of the RADEC learning model.

Abstract

Students' learning challenges brought on by an inadequate learning process served as the inspiration for this study. Students struggle to categorize alkaline, alkaline earth, halogen, and noble gas elements as a result. The activities, learning outcomes, and student reactions to the card sort learning model on the main group elements content are all intended to be described in this study. Descriptive study using a qualitative approach is the methodology employed. 21 students from SMAN 1 Krueng Barona Jaya's class XII MIA-2 chosen as the research subjects. Student activity observation sheets, test question sheets, and student answer questionnaires were the tools utilized in this study. Observing student activities in the first, second, third, and fourth meetings yielded results that fell into the good category: 71.02%, 75%, 78.26%, and 83.65%, respectively. 76.19% of students on average demonstrated competence of the learning goals. Eighty-three percent of students responded favorably to instruction utilizing the card sort learning model. Based on the study's findings, it can be said that using the card sort learning model with the primary group elements content can engage students in the learning process and help them master the subject matter. Additionally, students responded favorably to the use of the card sort learning model.
