Abstract

This study is the development of diagnostic test instrument four tier multiple choice to detect student misconceptions on the system material of human coordination. The diagnostic test is carried out on students who have received the coordination system material. The purpose of this study is to analyze diagnostic test validity and to analyze the profile of students' misconceptions on the material of the coordination system using four-tier multiple choices. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D method, namely definite, design develop and Disseminate. The subjects of this research are the students of XII IPA 1, 2, and 3 at SMAN 1 Terusan Nunyai and the students of XII IPA 3, 4, and 5 at SMAN 1 Terbanggi Besar. The result of this research shows a valid question instrument with a CVR value is 0.80 and CVI value is 0.78 with 8 examiners and 35 items of questions. The profile of misconceptions at SMAN 1 Terusan Nunyai in the excellent class is 10.69%, medium class is 30.57% and low class is 40.86% who experienced misconceptions, while at SMAN 1 Terbanggi Besar, the category of excellent class is 26.94%, medium class is 32.12% and low class is 27.48%. The conclusion of this research is there are many students who experience misconceptions on the coordination system material in the nervous system and hormones.

Abstract

Students must have critical thinking ability and utilize ICT in the learning process to face the challenges of 21st century learning. Likewise, in biology learning accompanied by contextual learning related to everyday life such as the concept of environmental change. Technological developments also need to be maximally utilized in the learning process by flipped classroom learning. This study aims to know the increase in students' critical thinking ability towards flipped classroom learning model. This research method used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent pretest posttest control group design. The subjects of this study included students of class XMIPA 1 and XMIPA 2 at SMAN 1 Palimanan. The results showed that there is a difference in the increase in critical thinking ability between the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class has a higher N-gain than the control class. The independent sample T test hypothesis test shows that the N-Gain significance value is less than the alpha value, which means that there is a significant difference in critical thinking skills between the experimental class and the control class. Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that flipped classroom learning can increase students' critical thinking ability in environmental change material.

Abstract

This study aims to test the feasibility and effectiveness of the SETS-based environmental pollution module with Islamic values ​​in improving students' scientific literacy. This type of research is research and development (R&D) that uses the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects to test the developed module were 39 students and three expert lecturers consisting of science material experts, Islamic religious material experts, and media experts. The research instruments were expert validation questionnaires, legibility questionnaires, gaps test questions, and scientific literacy test questions. The expert validation data analysis showed the average score on the feasibility aspects, which were considered very valid. The readability questionnaire analysis describes the module as having excellent readability. This result is in line with the results of the gap test analysis that the module is easy for students to understand. The N-gain values ​​for the three aspects of scientific literacy are 0.46, 0.45, and 0.38 in the medium category, while the other element is 0.26 in the low class. Based on the analysis results, the environmental pollution module SETS-based with Islamic values ​​was very suitable for learning. It was effective in improving three aspects of scientific literacy.

Abstract

During the current pandemic, the utilization of technology is needed in teaching and learning activities. It supports the emergence of Android-based learning innovations. Likewise, biology learning is accompanied by contextual learning related to everyday life. This study aimed to develop learning materials based on contextual teaching-learning and analyze the validity of learning media and cognitive understanding. This research used the 4-D model development method by Thiagarajan (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The subjects were media experts and material experts, while the product's effectiveness was tested on 56 students of class XI MIPA at SMAN 1 Semaka. The results showed that the validation scores of material experts and media experts were 92.39% and 92.61%, respectively, with very valid criteria. Analysis of students' cognitive understanding showed high criteria with an average N-gain value of 0.70 (high criterion). Based on the research analysis results, it can be concluded that learning media mobile learning based on contextual teaching-learning have been valid and effectively used as a learning resource for high school students.

Abstract

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the virus that causes AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) which attacks the human immune system and weakens the body's ability to fight any disease. One of the districts in Central Java, namely Demak Regency, is one of the areas that are quite high in HIV incidence and every year in that place has increased, therefore the aim of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the incidence of HIV in Demak Regency in 2019. This study used a cross sectional approach which was strengthened by interviews. The populations in this study were people who had tested HIV and were registered at the Demak District Health Office in 2019 and obtained 126 people. In this study, the sample was purposive sampling; with a total are 106 respondents. The instrument in this study was the provision of a questionnaire on sexual behavior, environment and socioeconomic status. After the data is obtained, it is analyzed by bivariate, univariate and multivariate. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between sexual behavior factors with a P-Value of 0.008, OR = 3.235 and a CI of 1.334 - 7.844. Besides that, socioeconomic status is also a risk factor associated with the HIV incidence with a P-Value of 0.001, OR = 0.253 and a CI of 0.111 - 0.575. Meanwhile, social environmental factors were not related to HIV incidence because the P-Value was 0.102, OR = 0.511 and CI was 0.227 - 1.149. However, the independent variable can only explain by the model  23.1% and there are other factors that influence the risk of HIV incidence.

Abstract

Practicing open defecation is a health and social problem that needs immediate attention. About 17 percent of households in 2010 or around 41 million people still defecated in the outside rather than in toilet. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of  Total Family Latrine Village (KATAJAGA) health education on the changes of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of defecating in the community in Tambakromo Bojonegoro. This study applied a quantitative research with a quasy experimental research method by using pre-post-test with control group design. The sample in this study consisted of 236 respondents representing the intervention group and the control group conducted by using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire and observation sheet. The data collection techniques were interviews, pre-test and post-test. The data analysis in this study was done by using Mann Whitney to determine the differences between the experimental group and the control group. The results of the study showed that there was an effective effect of giving Total Family Latrine Village (KATAJAGA) education on the changes in knowledge (p = 0,000), attitudes (p = 0,000), and behaviour (p = 0,000) of defecation. There were differences between the intervention and control groups in Tambakromo Bojonegoro community, it can be seen from the p value is <0.05. Efforts to improve the environmental sanitation and basic sanitation conditions in East Java were carried out by using Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM).

Abstract

Worm is an infectious disease caused by parasites in the form of worms. Worm infections that are transmitted through soil or commonly referred to as Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) types, namely Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichuira, Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus. The purpose of this study was to analyze internal factors related to the case of worms and have an impact on the nutritional status of children in the roof tile craftsmen area in Karanggeneng Village, Boyolali Regency. This research is a quantitative study, with a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 119 respondents obtained by simple random sampling technique. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation and laboratory tests. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistical tests and linear regression. The results of research in the roof tile craftsmen area of Karanggeneng Village, Boyolali Regency, showed that there was a relationship between the variables of hand washing (p = 0.000), cutting nails (p = 0.000), defecation habits (p = 0.000) on the case of worms. This study also showed that the variable eating habits (p = 0.040) and the case of worms were related to the nutritional status of children (p = 0.007).

Abstract

Personal hygiene is an effort to improve the health status of garbage transporting officers so that garbage transporting officers can avoid various diseases caused by garbage. This study aims to analyze the personal hygiene factors for garbage transporting officers in Ternate City, North Maluku Province. The type of research used is Mixed Methods research, which combines quantitative and qualitative research. With a sequential explanatory design. The population of this study was 143 respondents with a quantitative sample of 59 respondents using the random sampling technique. Research subjects include knowledge, work environment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and socio-culture of garbage transporting officers. Collecting data by means of questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation. Quantitative data analysis techniques used the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was no influence of knowledge with personal hygiene for garbage transporting officers, p-value of 0.404 (> 0.05). work environment p-value of 0.223 (> 0.05). There is an effect of using personal protective equipment (PPE) p-value of 0.007 (<0.05). The socio-cultural p-value is 0.010 (<0.05). Personal protective equipment (PPE) and socio-culture which more influence the personal hygiene of garbage transporting officers in Ternate city, North Maluku Province.

Abstract

Metarhizium anisopliae is a parasitic fungus on insects, and thus called entomopathogenic fungus. This fungus is used as a biological control agent for insect pests. Fungal propagation can be done using a variety of media. The purpose of this study was to analyze the growth of M. anisopliae on four types of media, with conidial density and viability as the growth parameters. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Microbiology, Universitas Negeri Semarang. This study was an experimental research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor and four treatments: Control (PDA/Potato Dextrose Agar medium), Treatment I (ELSA/Extract Larvae Sucrose Agar medium), Treatment II (CWSA/Coconut Water Sucrose Agar medium), Treatment III (CWELSA/Coconut Water and Extract Larvae Sucrose Agar medium). The and results showed that there was an effect of growth media on the density and viability of M. anisopliae conidia. CWELSA media had the highest conidial density (2.91 x 108 cfu/mL) and viability (97.17%). CWSA media had  2.82 x 108 cfu/mL and 95.33%. PDA media had 2.25 x 108 cfu/mL and 92.83%. ELSA media had 1.64 x 108 cfu/mL and 90.83%. The high conidial density and viability of M. anisopliae is CWELSA  medium. This study is as an alternative growth medium to improve the quality of M. anisopliae propagation.

Abstract

Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lung primarily affecting the small air sacs known as alveoli. It is an Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) that attacks the lung tissue which is characterized by coughing accompanied by rapid breathing or shortness of breath. Pneumonia often occurs and attacks the community, especially toddlers at Public Health Center (PUSKESMAS) Pati I in Pati Regency. There are many unknown factors of this disease. The purpose of this study was to analyze the intrinsic and extrinsic factors causing pneumonia in children under five years old at Publich Health Center (PUSKESMAS) Pati I. The research method used in this study was an analytical survey with a case control study design. The total sampling used was 35 toddlers. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Observations were made through direct observation and measurement of age, breastfeeding, nutritional status, family income, family smoking habits, ventilation, and the incidence of pneumonia in children under five years old or toddlers. The data in this study was analyzed by using Univariate, Bivariate and Multivariate analysis. The results showed that nutritional status (p=0.046), smoking habits (p=0.03) and ventilation (p=0.000) has an effect on the incidence of pneumonia. Meanwhile, age (p=0.398), breastfeeding (p=0.464), and family income (p=0.497) has no effect on the incidence of pneumonia. The most influential factor on the incidence of pneumonia in children under five years old or toddlers is home ventilation with an odds ratio of 40,866. Efforts to improve the health condition of toddlers with pneumonia at Public Health Center Pati I are carried out with Psychoeducation and Health Education activities.
