Abstract

Science is a learning given at school. Learning strategy choices would influence to learning success. There is a need of creative and innovative strategy to improve learning activities and student conceptual understanding, such as by using KWL thinking strategy (Know-Want-Learn) assisted by video. This research aims to analyze learning activity and effectiveness of learning conceptual understanding at VII grade of a Public Junior High School in Nganjuk after being intervened by KWL thinking strategy assisted by video. This quasi experimental research design used pretest-posttest control group design with 64 students in which 32 of them grouped into control group while the remaining were grouped into experimental group. Technique of collecting data was simple random sampling. Experimental group student activity analysis results show 28 of them (87,50%) are categorized excellent and 4 of them (12,50%) sufficient. Meanwhile, the control group shows 11 of them (34,37%) categorized excellent and 21 of them (65,63%) categorized sufficient. Analysis of experimental and control group classical accomplishment met the effective criteria since it passed 75%. Classical accomplishment of completed experimental group's cognitive aspect reached 28 students (87,50%). Meanwhile, the control group reached 26 students (81,25%). The improvement of learning outcome was calculated by significance test or t-test. The result of control group’s t-test showed t-count 8,64 > t-table 2,03. The experimental group obtained t-count 11,12 > t-table 2,03. The improvement and accomplishment of experimental group was better than control group. Based on the results, it could be concluded that KWL thinking strategy assisted by video was effective to improve learning activity and VII graders’ conceptual understanding learning at a Public JHS in Nganjuk.

Abstract

Student science literacy is influenced by external and internal factors. One external factor is learning implementation, while internal factors are self efficacy and attitude towards science. This study aims to analyze the science literacy of students, the linkages of learning implementation, self efficacy, and attitudes toward science in a linear and simultaneous ways. This study uses explanatory research design at SMAN 1 Cepiring and SMAN 1 Kaliwungu. The subjects of this research are 125 students. Data collection techniques through observation, questionnaire, psychological scale, and tests. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, proportion test, one sample T test, correlation and regression. The results showed science literacy of students in the medium category, achieving a minimum average completeness and classical completeness of 75%. The linkages of the learning implementation with science literacy was 10,7%, self efficacy was 11,7% and attitudes toward science was 9,5%. The linkages of learning implementation, self efficacy, and attitudes toward science with science literacy simultaneous ways shows that there is a positive and significant relationship in the low category with a coefficient of determination of 18,7%. Result shows that collaboration between external and internal factors have shown a higher relationship in influencing students' science literacy.

Abstract

Teaching material supplement of News based bioconservation is compiled based on environmental news in the newspapaer in North Maluku. This study has purpose to identify the feasibility, readability and effectiveness of the news based bioconservation teaching material supplements. This study applied a Research and Development (R&D) approach. The subjects in this study were the fifth grade students of SD Inpres Aru Irian and SD BPD Falila, Morotai Island Regency. The data collection technique was carried out using expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires and cognitive tests. The data obtained by expert validation showed a score of 90.79%, indicated that the news based bioconservation teaching material supplement was very suitable to be used in the learning. The effectiveness of teaching material supplements was determined based on the classical completeness and N-gain values. The classical completeness of students in the pretest test was 29%, meanwhile, in the posttest test was 86%. Based on the classical completeness requirements ≥80%, indicated that students completed classically. The N-gain test obtained was 0.75 with high criteria or classified g ≥ 0.7, it was concluded that the teaching material supplement of news based bioconservation teaching was effective in improving student learning outcomes. The understanding of environmental awareness was obtained using an environmental awareness questionnaire, the criteria obtained were high with a mean score of 73.88%. Based on the result of the study, then, it can be concluded that teaching material supplement of news based bioconservation is appropriate to be used as teaching materials in the learning and effectively embedding the student learning outcomes and the understanding of environmental awareness.

Abstract

This research is aimed to analyze science learning that applies the PBL model with the SETS approach of students’ activities and learning outcomes. The research methodology used pre-test and post-test group design with each one of experimental and control classes. The findings obtained by an average gain score of the experimental class 0.2895 and the control class 0.2135, so that the experimental class has an increase in learning outcomes higher than the control class. The category of students who were very active and active in the experimental class was higher with a percentage of 87%. The conclusion of the study was the science learning model applying the PBL model with the SETS approach can optimize students’ activities and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The development of science curriculum aims to achieve the dimensions of knowledge competence, scientific work, and scientific attitude as daily behavior in interacting with society, environmental and technological utilization. Teaching materials are used in the form of book packages and not yet available learning modules. This study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of SETS biological module vision of environmental change and recycling of waste as teaching materials. This research is a research and development with a quasi-experimental design. The design of this study used a pretest-posttest control group design pattern. The population in this study were all students of class X MIA SMA N 2 Purbalingga, with class X MIA 3 sample as experiment class, and class X MIA 2 as control class. The product was developed in the form of a Biology learning module with SETS vision of recycled materials, waste and environmental waste recycling. The prerequisite test includes the normality test of pretest learning results, with ? = 0.05 with the initial conditions of the control class and the experiments not significantly differing. The result of posttest obtained then analyzed by t-test. The result of t-test analysis obtained t arithmetic price> t table price 10,58> 1,67, it can be stated that there is a significant difference between the result of control study and student experiment class. Based on the result of the research, it is concluded that 1) Biology Module SETS is suitable to be used as teaching materials, 2) the use of SETS biology module to study environmental change, waste and waste recycling effectively improve student learning outcomes.

IbM activities carried out in Sampangan Pasar Baru, Jalan Raya village Bendan Menoreh Duwur, District Gajahmungkur Semarang. The purpose of these service activities, namely: 1) train KSM Pasar Baru Sampangan process organic waste into organic fertilizer ready for sale. 2) help the government tackle the waste problem by creating a model of market-based processing of organic waste. 3) educate the traders of vegetables in order to dispose of waste in place and sort out organic and non-organic. There are two groups who are partners, namely: the first group of traders, especially traders vegetables every day produces organic and non-organic waste amounts to approximately 75 merchants. The second group of organic waste processing. IbM devotion steps that have been made are as follows: socialization and coordination of relevant parties, the manufacture of home composting, procurement of equipment and materials, training composting, educating the traders to dispose of waste in place, processing of organic waste regularly. Results obtained: 1) KSM Market Sampangan New’ve processing organic waste market becomes compost and is already on sale, 2) Produced SDM many as three people from KSM Market Sampangan New that can process organic waste market into compost, 3) Traders vegetables approximately 75% were taking out the trash in place, although not entirely sorted garbage sorting.
