Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the principal’s democratic leadership style in improving teachers’ work discipline, as well as to identify the supporting factors, inhibiting factors, and solutions applied at Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu (SDIT) Aulia Muara Bulian, Batang Hari Regency, Jambi Province. This research employed a qualitative approach with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, vice principal for curriculum, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that the democratic leadership style is manifested through teacher involvement in formulating disciplinary rules, open and dialogic communication in addressing violations, the principal’s exemplary behavior, positive reinforcement, and participatory supervision. Supporting factors for teacher discipline include harmonious working relationships, the school’s religious culture, strong teacher solidarity, persuasive monitoring, positive student perceptions, and appreciation systems. Conversely, inhibiting factors include low disciplinary awareness among some teachers, limited willingness to express challenges, inadequate facilities, heavy workloads, passive work culture, and unequal participation during deliberations. Solutions implemented by the principal include strengthening deliberative forums, reinforcing mutually agreed rules, humanistic guidance, providing appreciation, adjusting workload distribution, modeling discipline, and conducting regular evaluations. Overall, the democratic leadership style proves effective in fostering a participatory and sustainable culture of discipline within the school environment.

Abstract

Eksistensi guru Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) memiliki peran strategis dalam menjamin mutu prestasi belajar peserta didik, khususnya dalam membentuk perkembangan akademik, spiritual, dan karakter di SMP Adhyaksa 1 Jambi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana eksistensi guru PAI berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan prestasi belajar peserta didik serta mengidentifikasi faktor pendukung dan penghambat yang memengaruhinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan model Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan, serta triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa eksistensi guru PAI sangat efektif dalam meningkatkan prestasi belajar peserta didik, terlihat dari transformasi peran guru tidak hanya sebagai pengajar tetapi juga motivator spiritual, penerapan pendekatan holistik melalui keteladanan dan pembiasaan, optimalisasi teknologi pembelajaran, serta kolaborasi yang terstruktur antara sekolah, keluarga, dan masyarakat. Namun demikian, masih terdapat tantangan seperti dampak negatif penggunaan gadget secara berlebihan dan keterbatasan alokasi waktu pembelajaran, serta pengaruh lingkungan eksternal dan rendahnya efektivitas kolaborasi orang tua

Abstract

School entrepreneurship has become a strategic indicator of vocational education performance in responding to global economic changes driven by digitalization, technological innovation, and the growth of the creative economy. Vocational High Schools (SMKs) are no longer expected merely to produce job-ready graduates, but also to develop institutional entrepreneurial capacity that is innovative, adaptive, and sustainable. A quantitative approach was employed using an explanatory research design. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of the literature review and conceptual synthesis indicate that teacher innovativeness plays a critical role in driving entrepreneurship-oriented learning, while community culture shapes the social ecosystem that supports the sustainability of school entrepreneurship. These effects become more substantial when mediated by digital intelligence, which enables the transformation of pedagogical innovation and cultural values into technology-based entrepreneurial practices. This article contributes theoretically by strengthening a digital mediation-based model of school entrepreneurship and provides practical implications for vocational school management and policy development within the perspective of Islamic Education Management.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji jejak pemikiran dan kontribusi pendidikan K.H. Muhammad Daud Arif sebagai pendidik emansipatif dan tokoh moderasi beragama dalam perkembangan pendidikan Islam di Provinsi Jambi, Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis landasan biografis, gagasan pendidikan, serta praktik kelembagaan yang dirintis oleh K.H. Muhammad Daud Arif, khususnya melalui pendirian dan pengembangan Madrasah Hidayatul Islamiyah sebagai model pendidikan Islam yang inklusif dan modern. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain biografi dan sejarah, melalui kajian dokumen, penelusuran arsip, serta wawancara mendalam untuk menelaah keterkaitan antara warisan intelektual tokoh dan konteks sosial budaya yang melingkupinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa K.H. Muhammad Daud Arif tidak hanya berperan dalam transmisi keilmuan Islam klasik, tetapi juga menanamkan nilai-nilai kesetaraan gender, moderasi beragama, dan toleransi sosial dalam praktik pendidikan, sehingga memperkuat peran madrasah sebagai institusi transformatif dalam masyarakat yang majemuk. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan relevansi model pendidikan yang dikembangkan sebagai rujukan konseptual dan praktis bagi penguatan lembaga pendidikan Islam yang adaptif, inklusif, dan berorientasi pada pembentukan karakter serta harmoni sosial di Indonesia kontemporer

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the management of healthy school canteens in improving environmental cleanliness and student comfort at MAN 1 Merangin. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a naturalistic inquiry approach. Data were collected through in-depth observations, documentation, and interviews with the Vice Head of Madrasah, the Chairperson of the Canteen Committee, teachers, and students. The results indicate that the management process is carried out through an integrated system, starting from selective planning and standardizing nutritional and halal quality to a formal organizational structure. Implementation is realized through disciplined daily sanitation routines, a centralized waste management system, and collaborative supervision with the local Health Center (Puskesmas). Despite facing challenges such as a reduction in management personnel and economic shifts, the madrasah has implemented strategic efforts through humanist fee reduction policies and consistent character building for students. The study concludes that effective canteen management serves as a primary pillar in creating a healthy, clean, and psychologically comfortable educational ecosystem, which supports the overall quality of student life and learning at MAN 1 Merangin

Abstract

This study examines the utilization of audio-visual media in improving students’ critical thinking skills in Islamic Religious Education at State Senior High School 12 Sarolangun. The research was motivated by the relatively low level of students’ critical thinking ability, which was influenced by limited and less optimal use of technology-based learning media in classroom instruction. The objective of this study was to analyze how audio-visual media are implemented in learning, how they contribute to the development of critical thinking skills, and what supporting and inhibiting factors influence their use. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and triangulation involving the principal, vice principal, teachers, and students. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the use of audio-visual media in Islamic Religious Education has not yet been fully optimized, although planning has been conducted systematically. Several challenges were identified, including differences in students’ characteristics, classroom management constraints, and limited student engagement. Efforts to address these challenges include combining audio-visual media with appropriate teaching methods, encouraging student participation, providing feedback and appreciation, and creating a positive learning environment. Properly managed, audio-visual media have strong potential to enhance students’ critical thinking skills and improve the effectiveness of the learning process.

Abstract

ENGLISH: Management of Teacher Professional Development at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (State Islamic Senior High School)Objective: This study aims to identify and analyse the management of teacher professionalism development at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Batang Hari. Method: The research method used is a descriptive qualitative study with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects include the school principal, teachers, and administrative staff. Data analysis was conducted through data validity checks via extended participation, extended observation, and triangulation. Results: The management of teacher professionalism development at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Batang Hari is implemented through planning, organising, actuating, and controlling. Teacher professionalism has developed well through the effective leadership of the principal and cooperation between the principal, vice principal, and teachers. Conclusion: Teacher professionalism development at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Batang Hari has been running well, although several obstacles need to be overcome. The leadership of the madrasah principal plays an important role in encouraging the improvement of teaching quality and teacher professionalism. Contribution: This study contributes to understanding the importance of teacher professionalism development management in madrasahs and the factors that influence its effectiveness.INDONESIAN: Manajemen Pengembangan Profesionalisme Guru di Madrasah Aliyah NegeriTujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis manajemen pengembangan profesionalisme guru di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Batang Hari. Metode: Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian meliputi Kepala Madrasah, guru, dan staf tata usaha. Analisis data dilakukan melalui pengecekan keabsahan data melalui perpanjangan keikutsertaan, perpanjangan pengamatan, dan triangulasi. Hasil: Manajemen pengembangan profesionalisme guru di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Batang Hari diterapkan melalui tahapan planning, organizing, actuating, dan controlling. Profesionalisme guru telah berkembang dengan baik melalui kepemimpinan kepala madrasah yang efektif, kerja sama antara kepala madrasah, wakil kepala madrasah, dan guru. Kesimpulan: Pengembangan profesionalisme guru di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Batang Hari telah berjalan dengan baik, meskipun terdapat beberapa faktor penghambat yang perlu diatasi. Kepemimpinan kepala madrasah berperan penting dalam mendorong peningkatan kualitas pengajaran dan profesionalisme guru. Kontribusi: Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam memahami pentingnya manajemen pengembangan profesionalisme guru di madrasah, serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi efektivitasnya.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to reveal teaching commitment of certified teachers who teach in private Madrasah in Jambi to increase the learning. The participants are teachers (civil servant) who teach in several private Madrasah in Jambi. It is the phenomenology qualitative research, referring to the eleventh steps proposed by Spradley (1980). This research revealed two important findings. First, the teachers realize that they need to be committed in their teaching as a way to improve their professionalism and also instructional quality. The second important finding is that there is a lack of supervisory effort to supervise certified teachers, and thus there has no coordination between teachers and the stakeholders. This makes MGMP and KKG does not run effectively.

Abstract

This study is aimed at revealing how is the Empowerment Education of Madrasah at  Fisherman village Suku Laut Kuala Tungkal Jambi Province. Islamic schools are generally born from the initiation of society as a form of concern for the condition of the people, especially children in understanding the special religion of Islam as a matter of doubt. This research is conducted by using qualitative approach, where the stage is based on the opinion of Spradley . Data collection methods and data validity refer to Denzin and Lincoln and Guba. Result search,  Islamic schools gait has contributed greatly to this country not only in providing a religious understanding, but also in participating to educate the children of the nation through the educational process that has lasted tens or even hundreds of years. In its journey, the empowerment of Islamic schools experienced various dynamics, commitment of Islamic school leadership, public awareness and supporting efforts became the issue that made Islamic schools hard to develop as expected.

Abstract

This article deals with professional teachers and challenges they face in the future. The performance of professional teachers demands hardwork to reconstruct their task and responsibility as educators. Nowadays, they bear burn critiques as researches posted them – Indonesian teachers are now in the critical situation.  In the implementation of certification project, for example, the certified teachers performances were unlikely to match with students’ success achievement. Research also confined that there were only 21.07 percents of State Elementary school teachers, twenty-eight point ninety-four percents of Private Elementary school teachers, fifty-four point twelve percents of State Junior High school teachers, and sixty point ninety-nine percents of Private Junior High school teachers who deserved to teach. While there were only sixty-five point twenty-nine percents of State Senior High school teachers and sixty-four point seventy-three Private Senior High scholl teachers who deserved to teach.Copyright © 2014 by Al-Ta'lim All right reservedDOI: 10.15548/jt.v21i1.66
