Abstract

This study examines the relationship between Transformational Leadership and Safety Culture in healthcare institutions through a systematic literature review. Transformational leadership plays an important role in influencing the culture of their organizations and improving patient safety in healthcare. This study found that transformational leadership directly and indirectly positively impacts safety culture and patient safety outcomes, such as decreased adverse events and increased nurse job satisfaction. Several dimensions of transformational leadership, such as inspiration and intellectual stimulation, contribute to improved working conditions and safety culture in hospitals. This review highlights the need for further research, especially in a more diverse context, to strengthen understanding of the role of transformational leadership in strengthening safety culture in the health sector.

Abstract

A toxic leadership style is a harmful leadership approach that negatively impacts both individuals and organizations. It is distinguished by behaviours like narcissism, intimidation, manipulation, and self-aggrandizement. This study is a systematic literature review of 26 quantitative articles discussing the antecedents, consequences, and mediating and moderating variables of toxic Leadership across various sectors. The findings reveal that toxic leadership triggers stress, burnout, decreased performance, and turnover intention while also fostering a toxic organizational culture. Furthermore, variables such as job satisfaction and organizational culture can mediate its impact, whereas organizational cynicism and masculinity contest culture intensify its effects

Abstract

Purpose: This systematic review examines the influence of transformational leadership on service quality in ophthalmology clinics, focusing on key metrics such as clinical accuracy, efficiency, and technological adoption. Research Methodology: A comprehensive search was conducted across PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science for peer-reviewed studies (2010–2024) linking TL to service quality in ophthalmology or analogous specialty clinics. Data were synthesized thematically, and findings were assessed for consistency and applicability using the PRISMA guidelines. Results: Preliminary analysis indicates that TL positively impacts service quality through (1) staff motivation to adhere to clinical protocols, (2) fostering innovation in diagnostic technologies, and (3) optimizing operational workflows to reduce delays. However, evidence specific to ophthalmology remains limited, highlighting the research gap. Conclusions: These findings on how transformational leaders foster a work environment centered on learning, innovation, and collaboration align with the demands of modern value-based healthcare, which requires the integration of technical excellence and patient experience Limitations: The limitations of this systematic review include potential inconsistencies due to varying definitions and measurements of transformational leadership and service quality, possible publication bias from relying solely on available published literature, restricted generalizability beyond ophthalmology clinics, and the challenge of drawing universal conclusions due to differing cultural and organizational contexts across studies. Contributions: This study specifically focuses on ophthalmology, providing insights relevant to eye care administrators. This study bridges the gap between general leadership theory and its practical application in high-demand clinics.

Abstract

Abstract

Immigration Office, as a public sector organization, faces challenges in meeting increasingly complex demands for public service. One of these challenges is the requirement for employees to possess adaptive capabilities in addressing various task related demands. This study is designed to examine how abusive supervision and role conflict contribute to the decline of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) through perceptions of illegitimate tasks as a mediating variable. This research employs a quantitative approach using covariance-based SEM analytical techniques. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms, consisting on a five point Likert scale. The population consist of all non-structural civil servants across 126 Immigration Offices within two regional offices throughout Indonesia, with a total of 347 respondents obtained as the sample. The sample was selected using purposive sampling based on the criteria of non-structural employees and analyzed using IBM SPSS AMOS. The variables used in this study include abusive supervision (X1) as an independent variable, role conflict (X2) as independent variables, illegitimate tasks (Z) as a mediating variable, and OCB (Y) as a dependent variable. The result indicate that abusive supervision and role conflict have a positive and significant effect on illegitimate tasks. Illegitimate tasks has a negative and significant effect on OCB. Illegitimate tasks also mediates the relationship between abusive supervision, role conflict, and OCB. Practically, the findings of this research may serve as a basis for policymakers at the Immigration Office and other government institution in designing strategies to enhance a healthy, fair, and supportive work climate.

Abstract

Workplace bullying is a widespread problem that has received great attention in academic studies in various fields. This research aims to facilitate future research by identifying the antecedents and consequences of workplace bullying. To answer the research question, a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology was used. The Scopus-indexed database journal was used to gather previous articles regarding workplace bullying, with 40 journals reviewed. This research found that workplace bullying occurs widely across industries and countries and negatively impacts the individuals affected by the bullying (victims) and the organisation. In addition, a model has been developed to examine the antecedents and consequences of workplace bullying to understand its impact more comprehensively. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing literature, this research uncovered trends and patterns in workplace bullying that had not previously been identified. The findings revealed an intriguing discrepancy between the predominant focus of previous studies on workplace bullying on the individual level and under-researched on the organisational level. Moreover, the Asian context has been overlooked in this field of inquiry. Therefore, there is a compelling rationale for conducting multilevel research in the context of Asia and developing countries to enhance our comprehension of this complex phenomenon.

This study uses a quantitative approach with the Smart PLS 3.2.9 analysis. The number of samples in this study was 76 LAZISMU zakat amil workers in East Java. The results of this study indicate that Islamic job satisfaction is not proven to affect turnover intention. Secondly, the result shows that there was a significant positive effect between the variables of Islamic job satisfaction on organisational commitment to the zakat amil workers of LAZISMU East Java. Thirdly, there was a significant negative effect between organisational commitment variables on turnover intention. Fourthly, there was a significant negative effect on the Islamic job satisfaction variable on turnover intention through organisational commitment mediation. Fifthly, if organisational commitment is interacted with an Islamic work ethic, it is known that there is a significant effect that strengthens the negative relationship between the variable turnover intention and LAZISMU amil zakat workers in East Java.

Abstract

Background: Professional Certification Bodies (PCBs) operate through formal authorization, standardized procedures, and hierarchical controls. Although these mechanisms safeguard certification quality, they may also restrict the expression and adoption of new ideas. Objective: This study identifies the factors underlying reluctance to innovate, the responses displayed by organizational members, and the consequences of such reluctance in Indonesian Human Resource Management PCBs. Methods: An exploratory qualitative design using the Critical Incident Technique was applied. Fifteen informants—three PCB leaders, nine assessors, and three operational managers—were purposively selected and interviewed in depth. Incidents were coded through content analysis and organized into first-order concepts and second-order themes using NVivo 12 Pro. The findings were checked through expert review, triangulation, and member checking. Results: Four contributing themes emerged: fear of failure, organizational inertia, the nature of change, and limited support and collaboration. Reluctance manifested as adverse affective reactions, cognitive reactions, and behavioral inclinations. Its consequences comprised individually adaptive but organizationally adverse responses and explicitly negative attributions. Conclusion: Mechanistic controls do not merely delay innovation; they shape a sequence in which restricted voice produces emotional and cognitive withdrawal, reduced innovative behavior, and the diversion or suppression of ideas. PCBs should retain regulatory compliance while establishing transparent idea-review processes, cross-role collaboration, and controlled experimentation mechanisms.
