Abstract

The incidence of anemia in pregnant women not only endangers the mother's health condition, but can also endanger her pregnancy, which has an impact on the fetus she contains. Anemia in pregnant women can be caused by the lack of optimal fulfillment of nutrients, especially iron, so it is necessary to fulfill iron adequacy for mothers from consuming foods high in iron during pregnancy. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between consumption of foods high in iron and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in the Paspan Health Center, Banyuwangi. This study applied a cross-sectional design. The sample size in this study was 72 pregnant women. Data collection was carried out through interviews using Food Recall 2 x 24 hours and filling out questionnaires. The results of the analysis showed that 81.9% of pregnant women had anemia. Fisher's exact test results showed a value of p = 0.03. Furthermore, it was concluded that there is a relationship between the consumption of foods high in iron and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in the Paspan Community Health Center, Banyuwangi, so that health workers need to increase the understanding of mothers and families regarding the importance of fulfilling the consumption of foods high in iron during pregnancy.Keywords: anemia of pregnancy; iron; food consumption ABSTRAK Kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil tidak hanya membahayakan kondisi kesehatan ibu, namun juga dapat membahayakan kehamilannya, yang berdampak pada janin yang dikandungnya. Anemia pada ibu hamil dapat disebabkan karena kurang optimalnya pemenuhan zat gizi terutama zat besi, sehingga perlu dilakukan pemenuhan kecukupan zat besi bagi ibu dari konsumsi makanan tinggi zat besi selama masa kehamilan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara konsumsi makanan tinggi zat besi dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil di Wilayah Puskesmas Paspan, Banyuwangi. Penelitian ini menerapkan desain cross-sectional. Besar sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 72 ibu hamil. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawacara menggunakan Food Recall 2 x 24 jam dan pengisian kuesioner. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa 81,9% ibu hamil mengalami anemia. Hasil Fisher’s exact test menunjukkan nilai p = 0,03. Selanjutnya disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara konsumsi makanan tinggi zat besi dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil di Wilayah Puskesmas Paspan, Banyuwangi, sehingga tenaga kesehatan perlu meningkatkan pemahaman ibu dan keluarga mengenai pentingnya pemenuhan konsumsi makanan tinggi zat besi selama masa kehamilan.Kata kunci: anemia kehamilan; zat besi; konsumsi makanan

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a global health problem in children under five. Failure to grow, develop, and metabolize due to stunting can threaten a child's future. The diversity of food consumed daily can be a factor affecting the incidence of stunting.  Objectives: This literature aimed to determine the relationship between dietary diversity and the incidence of stunting in children under five. Discussion: Ten articles met the criteria, with six articles stating that there was a relationship between dietary diversity and stunting, stating that the more diverse the food groups consumed, the less probability of children under five getting stunted. Conclusions: This study concludes that dietary diversity is related to the incidence of stunting in children under five. This research can be used as a reference to maximize the availability of dietary diversity, especially in the locus area of stunting.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic growth disorder that occurs during growth and early development in life. Interventions to prevent malnutrition should be implemented within 1000 days of life. Between 6 and 24 months is essential as children transition from exclusive breastfeeding to complementary feeding.  Objectives: To provide scientifically justifiable information on dietary preventions to prevent stunting. Discussions: The data were obtained from a study of various literature sources by searching through search engines: Google Scholar, BMC, Pubmed, and ScienceDirect, in the form of research results of reputable and national journals. The articles obtained related to this study were seven articles related to dietary supplement interventions to increase the z-score of Length/height-for-Age in stunted children aged 6-24 months. Conclusions: There were two types of interventions carried out to increase the HAZ in stunting toddlers by providing a single nutrient (mineral zinc) and a combination of 2-3 types of nutrients (Zinc, Iron, Vitamin B12, Vitamin A, Fat). In contrast, the intervention of the combination of zinc mineral nutrients, prebiotics, and food supplements in the form of micronutrient powder sachets did not show a significant difference in the length gain of toddlers.

Abstract

Background: The problem of nutritional health in society is a crucial topic widely reported in developed and developing countries. The incidence of Fe deficiency in children is associated with obesity, including overweight, but the relationship between the two is still being identified further. Objectives: To identify the relationship between obesity in school-aged children (7-19 years) and Fe deficiency and the specific parameters used through a systematic review. Methods: This research was conducted with a systematic review using PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect databases. The literature search strategy was carried out through evidence software by entering predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Five kinds of literature were selected from 2015 to 2021. Discussions: Fe deficiency is defined as the presence of two or more abnormal values ​​of the following parameters: (i) serum ferritin (SF) <15µg/L (ii) serum iron (SI) <10.7 µmol/l; (iii) Total iron Binding Capacity (TIBC) >62.7 µmol/l; dan (iv) %transferrin saturation (%Tsat) <15%. Fe deficiency in obese conditions occurs through an increase in proinflammatory mechanisms and the role of leptin which can reduce the availability and absorption of Fe in the body. Parameters soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR) is the best parameter to identify Fe deficiency in obese individuals. At the same time, serum ferritin (SF) has limitations as an indicator of iron status in obese children. Conclusions: These findings indicate that the incidence of obesity in children may lead to an increased risk of iron deficiency. The problem of iron deficiency and obesity is a public health problem that has detrimental short and long-term health effects, especially for school-age children in a phase of cognitive growth and development. The sTfR parameter is not significantly affected by inflammation due to adiposity, so it can differentiate iron deficiency from inflammatory hypoferremia.

Abstract

Background: There are differences in the prevalence of malnutrition between rural and urban areas due to differences in consumption patterns. However, data regarding differences between rural and urban areas in Indonesian cities still need to be investigated, even though this information is essential for the government to use when creating policies to eradicate malnutrition.    Objectives: To determine the effects of differences in school location (rural and urban) on the nutritional status, food intake, and sleep duration of children in junior high school. Methods: The research employed a cross-sectional design, which comprised 102 junior high school students in Jombang (a rural area) and 101 junior high school students from Surabaya (an urban area) served as the sample. Nutritional status was determined using anthropometric measurements of z-score BMI-for-age, performing the 2x24H food recall interviews to determine food intake and the questionnaire to determine sleep duration.     Results: The findings revealed a significant difference between rural and urban areas in nutritional status (p=0.002) and food intake, namely carbohydrate intake (p<0.001). The issue of malnutrition that differed significantly between the two regions was obesity (p<0.001), which was more prevalent in urban areas; on the other hand, undernutrition did not (p=0.556). In addition, sleep duration did not differ significantly (p=0.327).   Conclusions: In conclusion, differences in nutritional problems between urban and rural areas were not constantly caused by food intake or sleep duration; however, indirect factors such as physical activity could also play a role. This finding resulted in recommendations for schools to conduct a balanced nutrition education program and for the government to implement various policies to eliminate malnutrition in urban and rural areas.

Abstract

Masalah obesitas usia 18 tahun ke atas mengalami kenaikan. Pada usia 20 – 24 tahun, terdapat 12.1% penduduk obesitas. Status gizi remaja dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya: faktor keturunan, gaya hidup dan faktor lingkungan. Adiksi media sosial menyebabkan kurangnya aktivitas fisik, gangguan makan serta mempengaruhi status gizi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk melihat hubungan tingkat adiksi media sosial dan aktivitas fisik terhadap status gizi pada mahasiswa universitas airlangga. Studi ini menggunakan desain penelitian cross-sectional dengan teknik accidental sampling. Data diambil menggunakan data primer berupa kuesioner terkait fakultas, usia, jenis kelamin, tingkat adiksi media sosial, aktivitas fisik dan status gizi. Pengujian hubungan tingkat adiksi media sosial dan aktivitas fisik dengan status gizi menggunakan uji chi square. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebesar 54,77% responden memiliki tingkat adiksi media sosial yang tinggi, sebesar 56,78% responden memiliki tingkat aktivitas fisik yang rendah dan sebanyak setengah dari 53,76% memiliki status gizi normal. Hasil uji hubungan antara tingkat adiksi media sosial dengan status gizi memiliki hasil p- value sebesar 0,017 dan untuk hubungan aktivitas fisik dengan status gizi memiliki hasil 0,017. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat adiksi media sosial, dan aktivitas fisik dengan status gizi pada mahasiswa universitas airlangga.

Abstract

Anemia pada ibu hamil masih menjadi perhatian yang serius di Indonesia karena prevalensinya yang tergolong cukup tinggi. Anemia selama kehamilan merupakan faktor risiko bagi kesehatan ibu dan janin. Program pemberian tablet tambah darah untuk ibu hamil merupakan upaya pencegahan anemia selama kehamilan. Masalah timbul akibat ketidakpatuhan ibu hamil dalam mengonsumsi tablet tambah darah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis hubungan kepatuhan konsumsi tablet tambah darah, kebiasaan minum teh, serta asupan protein dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil di Puskesmas Karangreja pada bulan Juli 2023. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan menggunakan desain case control. Palam penelitian ini adalah seluruh ibu hamil yang memeriksakan kehamilannya di Puskesmas Karangreja berjumlah 234 orang dengan sampel terdiri dari 21 kasus dan 21 kontrol yang diambil dengan menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu lembar identitas responden, kuesioner kepatuhan konsumsi tablet tambah darah, kuesioner kebiasaan minum teh, serta lembar SQ-FFQ. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis univariat, analisis bivariat dengan uji chi-square, dan analisis multivariat dengan uji regresi logistik berganda. Hasilnya menunjukkan kepatuhan konsumsi tablet tambah darah (p = 0,000), kebiasaan minum teh (p = 0,001), dan asupan protein (p = 0,000) berhubungan dengan kejadian anemia. Variabel yang paling berpengaruh terhadap kejadian anemia pada penelitian ini yaitu kepatuhan konsumsi tablet tambah darah. Upaya peningkatan promosi, sosialisasi, dan pendidikan kesehatan mengenai pentingnya kepatuhan mengonsumsi tablet tambah darah, bahaya kebiasaan minum teh berlebih, serta mengonsumsi protein yang cukup khususnya pada ibu hamil perlu dilakukan lebih gencar untuk mengurangi kejadian anemia.

Abstract

Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection remains an unresolved health problem in Brazil. Diet plays an important role in the immune system of HIV/AIDS patients because adequate amounts of macronutrients and micronutrients are important. Food quality has also been used as a proxy for predicting the risk of death and chronic diseases. Measuring diet quality is an indicator that can describe a person's dietary practices in accordance with the dietary recommendations set out to be able to live healthily.Objective: This study aimed to analyze the dietary patterns and diet quality of adolescents and adults with HIV/AIDS.Methods: This study was a systematic literature review. The protocol used in the systematic literature review of this study used the PRISMA method. The SLR protocol and evaluation were performed using the PRISMA method to select research articles that had been found. The PRISMA method collects articles from PubMed, Google Scholar, Research Gate, SINTA, Garuda, and Scopus databases. The search terms used were Indonesian and English. The search terms used in Indonesian were "Diet and HIV/AIDS" OR "Diet Quality and HIV/AIDS". The search terms in English were "dietary habit and HIV/AIDS" OR "diet quality and HIV/AIDS". The articles collected were published between  2014  and  2022.Results: According to the findings of a systematic literature review, consumption patterns that do not meet the needs of HIV infection will lead to chronic malnutrition and AIDS, resulting in a drastic decrease in resistance to other infections. Diet plays an important role in the immune system of HIV/AIDS patients, because adequate intake of macro-and micronutrients is essential for normal functioning. Diet quality is influenced by the diversity of food ingredients and food security, which remains low. Diet quality in HIV/AIDS patients affects their body weight, mental health status, physical health status, CD4 count, and other health problems.Conclusion: Dietary habits do not meet intake requirements due to HIV infection, which causes chronic malnutrition and, at the AIDS stage, results in a drastic decrease in resistance to other infections. Abstract

Stunting merupakan kondisi gagal tumbuh pada anak balita (bayi di bawah 5 tahun) akibat dari kekurangan gizi kronis sehingga menyebabkan anak terlalu pendek dibanding anak usianya. Stunting akan berakibat pada pertumbuhan anak yaitu memiliki postur tubuh tidak maksimal saat dewasa, mudah terserah penyakit, dan mempunyai kemampuan kognitif yang kurang sehingga nantinya akan berdampak pada ekonomi Indonesia dalam jangka panjang. Prevalensi stunting di Kabupaten Tuban pada tahun 2022 melebihi rata-rata prevalensi stunting nasional. Pemerintah Indonesia menargetkan prevalensi stunting pada tahun 2024 menjadi 14%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komitmen pemerintah Desa Waleran yang merupakan salah satu desa yang ada di Kabupaten Tuban dalam percepatan penurunan stunting. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan cara pengumpulan data melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 19 orang yang terdiri dari Kepala Desa, PLKB, Bidan Desa, Petugas Gizi, Kader Posyandu, Bhabinkamtibmas, serta Babinsa. Berdasarkan hasil FGD, sudah terdapat bentuk komitmen pemerintah Desa Waleran dalam penurunan percepatan stunting, hal tersebut tertuang dalam SK Tim Percepatan Penurunan Stunting. Anggaran dana khusus stunting difokuskan pada Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT), bidan desa dan kader posyandu sebagai penanggung jawabnya. Namun, diperlukan penambahan dan peningkatan kualitas sumber daya manusia untuk meminimalisir rangkap jabatan dan kemudahan dalam penggunaan teknologi. Program gizi spesifik perlu lebih bervariasi dan ditingkatkan.

Abstract

Providing nutrition and food support is necessary for enhancing and maximizing athletic performance in individuals engaged in sports activities. This study aimed to examine the impact of sports nutrition education on combat athletes' sports nutrition knowledge and nutritional sufficiency. This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental design, explicitly utilizing a pretest-posttest control group design. The study included a total of 76 participants, who were categorized into two groups: intervention and control. Each group consisted of 38 athletes. The data were analysed using SPSS. The Independent T-Test and Paired T-Test determined if the data followed a normal distribution. The Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon Signed Rank tests were employed if the data did  not follow a normal distribution. The nutrition education intervention comprised seven weekly materials sent to the intervention group. The findings indicated significant nutritional knowledge differences (p=<0.001) between the intervention and control groups. Additionally, there were significant differences in the sufficiency of energy intake (p=0.029) within the intervention group. The study's findings indicated that nutrition education significantly affected the intervention group's sports nutrition knowledge and energy intake adequacy. Additionally, the nutrition education intervention significantly affected the sports nutrition knowledge of the control group. Athletes' enhanced understanding will positively affect their ability to satisfy energy requirements.
