Abstract

Background: Anemia is a global health problem and has a high prevalence in various countries. Based on the results of Riskesdas 2018, it's known that there was an increase in anemia in Indonesia which was 48,9%. Adolescent girls have a higher risk of anemia than adolescent boys because adolescent girls have menstrual cycles every month. In addition, adolescent girls also have unhealthy eating patterns, such as extreme diets, with the aim of achieving the ideal figure. Based on several studies, intake of protein, vitamin C and iron has a correlation with anemia among adolescent girls.   Objectives: The aim of this literature review is to determine the correlation between intake of protein, vitamin C and iron with anemia among adolescent girls Methods: The research method used is literature review method by choosing a cross sectional design. Discussion: The results of a review of twelve articles showed that 8 of 12 literature reviews showed a correlation between intake of protein with anemia among adolescent girls, 8 of 12 literature reviews showed no correlation between intake of vitamin C with anemia among adolescent girls and 6 of 12 literature reviews showed a correlation between intake of iron with anemia among adolescent girls. Conclusions: Intake of nutrients such as protein, vitamin C and iron will affect the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls.

Abstract

Background: Gastroenteritis often attacks toddlers and children because their immune systems are still weak, so they can be exposed to bacteria that cause diarrhea such as continuous vomiting which will increase dehydration (lack of fluids). Gastroenteritis is often accompanied by dehydration, either moderate to severe dehydration. Acute gastroenteritis is one of the leading causes of child mortality in the world. The results of several studies found that the administration of zinc and selenium supplements can shorten the healing time or the duration of hospitalization of patients with acute gastroenteritis. Objectives: The purpose of this literature review is to examine and analyze the role of selenium and zinc in the treatment of acute gastroenteritis in children. Methods: Using the literature review method by reviewing 10 journal articles with 8 articles discussing the role of zinc in the healing process of acute gastroenteritis in children and 2 articles discussing the role of selenium in the healing process of acute gastroenteritis in children. Discussion: The results showed that selenium contains enzymes that can reduce oxidative stress so that it plays a role in the healing process of acute diarrhea. Meanwhile, zinc can help the healing process because it increases the absorption of fluids from the intestine, helps the cleansing of the organism, and supports the regeneration and integrity of the mucosa, and has immune-related mechanisms. Conclusion: The administration of zinc and selenium can accelerate the healing of gastroenteritis in children.

Abstract

Background: Dehydration is a condition of lack of fluids in the body because the amount of fluid that comes out is greater than the amount that goes in. Workers are people at risk of dehydration due to insufficient fluid replacement because fluid intake does not meet needs and there is an increase in fluid expenditure. Ensuring workers are adequately hydrated is one way to improve workplace safety and productivity. Objectives: Determine the relationship between fluid intake and hydration status in workers. Methods: This study used literature review method. The literature study was conducted by choosing a cross-sectional design. This study using a electronic databases search strategy from international and national journals. Discussion: There was a significant relationship between fluid intake and workers' hydration status. The majority of workers are dehydrated due to low fluid intake. Conclusions: The conclusion is that fluid intake affects hydration status, but there are several factors such as ambient conditions and type of liquid.

Abstract

Background: Overweight is a global health problem caused by many factors. Poor sleep quality can be at risk of eating at night due to an imbalance of appetite-regulating hormones. The absence of physical activity carried out after such a dinner is risk of increasing body weight. In addition, poor consumption habits, such as high in energy, high in fat, high in simple carbohydrates, and low in fiber, which are often done by students, can cause excess weight. Objective: To analyze the relationship between sleep quality, physical activity, and level consumption of macronutrients with overweight in 2019 Universitas Airlangga students. Methods: This research used cross sectional design. The sample was 107 students selected from proportionate stratified random sampling from 13 faculties. Data collection included interviews and online questionnaires about individual characteristics, breakfast habits, PSQI, IPAQ-SF, and food recall 2x24 hours. Meanwhile, the statistical analysis used is the chi-square test. Results: There was a correlation between physical activity (p=0.018), energy consumption level (p=0.009), protein consumption level (p=0.000), and fat consumption level (p=0.000) with overweight in Universitas Airlangga student class of 2019. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there was a correlation between physical activity, level of energy consumption, level of protein consumption, and level of fat consumption with overweight. This was due to the density of student activities and the lack of awareness of a healthy lifestyle among students. Recommendations given by students are to increase knowledge and awareness related to healthy living behavior to prevent malnutrition.

Abstract

Background: Monitoring children's nutritional status is one of the factors that create qualified human resources. Children aged 0-59 months who are malnourished will experience growth disorder if not taken seriously. Several factors that associated with nutritional status of children are parent's educational level and income.   Objectives: The purpose of this literature review was to analyze the relationship between parent's educational level and income on child's nutrition status. Methods: This article is a literature review based on articles that was published within the last ten years. Electronic databases like PubMed and Google Scholar were used. There are 17 literatures that used in this article. Discussion: Some articles show that child's nutritional status is related to the parents' income and education level. Educated parents are able to explain the nutritional value of food and comprehend more about the physical and mental development of their children. The availability of food and efforts to provide a balanced diet are influenced by parental income, and this will have an impact on the nutritional health of children. Nevertheless, there are still many factors that can affect the nutritional status of children. Conclusions: Parents' education level and income was not significantly associated with children's nutritional status. This due to the development of information technology and human resources

Abstract

Background: Nutritional status is a parameter of health degree which describes the balance of nutrient intake with the body's needs. Unbalanced nutritional intake with body needs results in nutritional problems, one of which is excess nutrition. Nutrition is more due to the consumption of excessive calories in a long time. Caloric intake in food mostly comes from macronutrients such as fat, protein, and carbohydrates. The calories that enter the body are then balanced with the expenditure of calories through physical activity, so that physical activity is also one of the main factors in improving nutritional status. In addition, sleep duration can also be one of the factors causing over nutrition through indirect factors. The average college student is between 18-25 years old, which is an important decade for shaping or changing behavior and eating patterns. In general, college students are a population prone to sleep problems, poor dietary habits, weight gain, and reduced physical activity. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the relationship between pocket money, residence status, sleep duration, and physical activity with overweight status in students at Universitas Airlangga. Methods: This study is an observational analysis using a cross-sectional design. The population in this study are students of Airlangga University. The sample size in this study was 168 students who were selected based on accidental sampling. Data processing uses SPSS with univariate and bivariate analysis. Results: There is a relationship between pocket money (p=0.013), residence status (p=0.012), sleep duration (p=0.002) and over nutrition in Airlangga University students. While physical activity (p = 0.406) has not found a significant association with overweight status in Airlangga University students. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between pocket money, residence status, sleep duration and overweight status, while there is no significant relationship between physical activity and overweight in Airlangga University students.
