Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the digital and pedagogical competencies of teachers at SD Penggilingan 01 Jakarta through training and mentoring on the development of digital learning materials using the flipped book approach. The program was conducted over four months (October 2024–January 2025) and involved 20 teachers from various grade levels. The implementation process included four main stages: needs assessment, training and workshop, classroom mentoring, and evaluation. The pre–post test results indicated an average improvement of 47.6% in teachers’ competencies, covering the understanding of digital media design skills and multimedia integration. Ninety percent of the participants successfully created their own flipped books relevant to their teaching subjects. Teachers also demonstrated greater confidence and creativity in integrating digital tools into their lessons. The impact was evident on three levels: teachers became more innovative, students showed higher enthusiasm and learning independence, and the school gained a sustainable digital learning model. This program highlights that flipped book–based training is an effective pedagogical strategy to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and foster a more adaptive digital learning ecosystem in elementary education.

Abstract

This study discusses Indonesian language and literature learning strategies for developing writing, reading, and creative thinking skills. The literature study method, with thematic analysis, comparative analysis, and narrative synthesis of ten literatures that met the inclusion criteria, was used. The results showed that a combination of thematic, comparative or varied, and innovative or creative learning strategies can improve language skills comprehensively. Thematic strategies facilitate contextual understanding of concepts, comparative and varied strategies encourage active engagement and literacy, while innovative and creative strategies stimulate students' imagination, critical thinking, and creativity. Positive impacts are seen in improving reading skills through text comprehension and vocabulary enrichment, writing skills through creative expression of ideas and coherent writing structures, and creative thinking skills through problem-solving and innovation exercises. Teacher challenges, such as limited media and differences in student abilities, can be overcome by integrating interactive methods, differentiated approaches, and applying best practices from the literature. This study provides practical guidance for teachers to design language and literature learning that is more effective, enjoyable, and relevant to the development of students literacy and creativity.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of ethnomathematics contained in patrol music as one of the local cultural heritages of the Jember Regency community. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation of local cultural actors. Based on the results of data collection, several traditional Jember musical instruments were obtained, namely kentongan, tambourine and flute. Based on the results of the exploration, it was found that there are mathematical concepts contained in the kentongan, tambourine, and flute musical instruments including size and measurement, spatial shapes, rhythmic patterns, rhythm and time, symmetry. Kentongan and tambourine are rhythmic musical instruments that use the concept of counting and patterns to create rhythm and beats. Meanwhile, the flute utilizes the concept of frequency and wavelength to produce different tones, which are also related to mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe in depth the emergence of conceptual misconceptions and procedural errors, as well as the dynamics of students' thinking processes when solving triangle geometry problems. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design on three mathematics education students who had taken basic geometry, selected purposively to represent a variety of academic abilities and allow for intensive exploration of thought processes. The instrument is a triangular geometry problem solving task that looks for height, area, and lateral relations. Data was collected through written answer sheets, video recordings of the work, and retrospective clarification interviews, then analyzed qualitatively to trace patterns of misconceptions and procedural errors in the problem-solving flow. Data validity through source triangulation and trail auditing. The results showed that the three students displayed a neat calculation procedure, but were conceptually fragile. The height of a triangle is not interpreted as a perpendicular relation, the use of the theorem is carried out without prerequisites, and the relations between the lateral segments are assumed intuitively. Weak monitoring and evaluation during the problem-solving process hinders the formation of a coherent conceptual framework. These findings confirm the need for geometry learning that emphasizes the status of mathematical objects, adherence to the prerequisites of concepts and theorems, and the development of reflective monitoring habits in problem solving.

Abstract

Abstract

Mental health is the cornerstone of developing a well-rounded and high-quality character, especially in the digital age, which is marked by social media pressure, instant gratification expectations, and identity crises. This study aims to analyze the thoughts of Sheikh Abu Zaid al-Balkhi in his book Maṣāliḥ al-Abdān wa al-Anfus (The Well-being of the Body and Soul) and to examine its implications for character education in the digital age. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach based on library research, with content and discourse analysis of primary texts and contextual data. The findings reveal that al-Balkhi divides mental health into preventive and curative functions, grounded in the balance between physical aspects (al-abdān), spiritual aspects (al-anfus), rationality, and spirituality. The implications of these findings in humanistic-oriented education encourage the development of empathetic, resilient, and reflective character, as indicated by Maslow's basic needs such as safety, love, self-esteem, and self-actualization. Meanwhile, in a holistic approach, al-Balkhi's thinking aligns with Miller's emphasis on integrative character education, encompassing cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and spiritual aspects, thereby producing intellectually and emotionally balanced character. Indicators include emotional management skills, moral stability, healthy social relationships, and spiritual reflection. The conclusion of this study affirms that al-Balkhi's ideas are highly relevant as a foundation for character education in the digital age, blending classical Islamic approaches and modern psychological theories within a humanistic, holistic educational framework.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ thinking processes in solving geometry problems through verbal expressions: verbalization, self-explanation, and oral description. The participants were three university students who were asked to work on geometry tasks containing linguistic descriptions. Data were collected through video recordings, students’ written solutions, and think-aloud notes capturing their thinking processes. Data analysis followed three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that all participants demonstrated strong verbalization skills by restating key information from the problem text and representing it through labels and annotations in their drawings. In the self-explanation aspect, the three students attempted to justify their solution steps through sequences of calculations, although the strategies they used were not entirely accurate. Regarding oral description, all participants were able to describe the triangle structure, point positions, and altitude lines, yet not all of them could consistently connect these visualizations with correct computational procedures. These findings affirm that students’ verbal expressions play an important role in revealing the structure of their thinking processes, especially in geometry problems that require integration between linguistic descriptions and spatial representations. Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The digital era has brought extraordinary ease in accessing information and knowledge. However, this convenience has also given rise to new moral challenges among students, such as intellectual arrogance, declining learning ethics, and reduced respect for teachers. This study aims to examine Qur’an Surah Al Kahf verse 66 through the approach of Ulum-al Qur’an, analyze the value of humility in seeking knowledge based on classical and contemporary tafsir, and formulate its relevance as a solution to students’ moral crisis in the digital era. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by analyzing various classical and contemporary tafsir literature, particularly Tafsir Ibn Kathir and Tafsir Al Misbah. The findings show that the dialogue between Prophet Musa and Prophet Khidir in Qur’an Al Kahf verse 66 illustrates the importance of humility in the learning process, where even a person of high knowledge demonstrates humility to acquire understanding. This value of humility can be implemented to reduce arrogant behavior, strengthen respect toward teachers, and cultivate sincerity in learning. Thus, humility becomes an ethical and spiritual foundation relevant for building students’ character in the digital era.
