Abstract

Introduction: Workers of swallow nest industry are at risk of experiencing musculoskeletal disorders due to monotonous swallow nest cleaning activity which puts heavy load on their extremity area of the upper body. This research seeks to analyze the relationships of age, gender, nutritional status, exercise habits, working hours, and working position with complaints of musculoskeletal disorders in swallow nest cleaning workers at PT. Lentera Alam Nusantara. Method: This type of research uses observational with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all workers in the cleaning and washing section of swallow nests at PT. Lentera Alam Nusantara Surabaya, totaling 50 people. Determination of the number of samples using simple random sampling lemmeshow formula, obtained a sample of 36 workers. Results: The majority of workers are 35 years old, female, obese nutritional status, rarely exercise, have 8 hours of work, moderate work position, and the majority have moderate muculoskeletal complaints. Based on the analysis test results using the spearman test, it shows that the factors that have a significant p-value <0.05 include ages, gender, nutrition status, exercise habits, and working hours. Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between age, gender, nutrition status, exercise habits, and working hours with complaints of musculoskeletal disorders.

Abstract

Introduction: Salesmen's job is focused on promoting a product directly to consumers. Household appliances are one of the products that is often promoted by salesmen. While carrying out marketing activities, they will always be faced with various job factors that can cause job stress. This research was conducted to analyze the correlation between job stressors and job stress levels among salesmen. Method: This research was observational research with a cross-sectional approach. Both population and samples of this research were 30 salesmen of household appliance trading in Kediri City. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Variables used in this research were job stressor including role conflict, role ambiguity, interpersonal conflict, job uncertainty, total workload, and mental demands with job stress levels. Results: The results showed that most salesmen experienced job stressors either in high, moderate or low category. Most of the salesmen experienced normal job stress level. There is relationship between job stressors consisting of role conflict (0.673), role ambiguity (0.455), interpersonal conflict (0.262), job uncertainty (0.683), total workload (0.526) and mental demands (0.859) with job stress levels on salesmen. Conclusion: An increase in job stressor conditions experienced by salesmen will be followed by an increase in job stress levels, and vice versa. Out of all, mental demands have the strongest relationship to job stress levels on salesmen. So it is necessary to make efforts to suppress existing job stressors so that an increase of job stress levels on salesmen can be prevented.

Abstract

Introduction: Sugar Factory (PG) Ngadiredjo is one of the manufacturing industry sectors where there are various stages of the production to process sugarcane into white crystal sugar. One of the risks of accidents in each production process is due to worker behavior. This study aims to analyze the strength of the correlation between awareness, motivation, and perception with safe behavior in engineering and processing section workers at PG Ngadiredjo Kediri. Methods: This research was an observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample of this study was 80 workers who were determined using the total population technique. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and safe behavior observations. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively using cross-tabulation and the Spearman correlation statistical test to determine the strength of the correlation between independent and dependent variables. Results: The results showed that most workers aged ≥ 36 years (42.5%), had a good level of awareness, good motivation, and fair perceptions. In addition, the results showed a strong correlation between awareness and perception with safe behavior and a very strong correlation between motivation and safe behavior. Conclusion: Based on the research results, there is a strong correlation between awareness and perception with safe behavior and a very strong correlation between motivation and safe behavior. The level of awareness, motivation, and perceptions of a worker will directly influence the level of his safe behavior.

Abstract

Introduction: The Indonesian government has issued, through the Ministry of Manpower, an announcement that occupational health and safety is the creation of a conducive employment climate. This research aims to determine the relationship between characteristics of employees (age, education level, and job title or position) and work safety climate in the Phosphoric Acid Industry. Method: This research is an observational study with quantitative method. The population of this research is the employees of the phosphoric acid plant in the Phosphoric Acid Industry, totaling 44 people and total sampling technique as the sampling method. The researchers used the Pearson Spearman correlation test. Result: All dimensions of occupational safety have a weak correlation with the age of employees. Several dimensions have negative correlations with age like dimension of employees' occupational safety priority and unacceptable risks, dimension of employees' occupational safety commitment, dimensions of priority and occupational safety management capability. All dimensions of occupational safety climate have a positive correlation with the level of education. Dimension of trust toward the organization, dimensions of priority, and occupational safety management capability; dimension of occupational safety empowerment have moderate correlations with education level. Most dimensions of occupational safety climate have a negative correlation with the job positions. There is one dimension that is positively correlated with the job position, namely the dimension of trust toward the organization. Conclusion: The results of the study found that there was no strong relationship between employee characteristics (age, education level, position) with the dimensions of work safety climate.

Abstract

Introduction: Maintenance of a electrostatic precipitator cooler machine involving welding activities in confined spaces, so the company of cement production need to understand the existing hazard by conducting hazard identification. Welding are related with physical, chemical, mechanical, and electrical hazards that can cause accidents and occupational illnesses. When the welding is carried out in confined spaces, it can increasing the hazards  include chemical hazards in the air, configuration of the building structure, poor airflow, or any combination of existing hazards. Methods: This research aimed to conduct hazard identification on welding activities in confined spaces. The research design used a descriptive observational with cross sectional approach. The research population was the workers who repair the electrostatic precipitator cooler machines. Sample of this research were selected using the Purposive sampling method, 2 welders in the rapping bar and 1 safetyman. Primary data was collected by conducting observation and interviews using checklist sheet, secondary data was obtained by collecting company profile and daily safety reports. Result: The results of the analysis showed that the identified hazards of welding activities in confined space are 5 of mechanical hazards, 4 of atmospheric hazards, 5 of ergonomics hazards, 5 of falling hazards, 6 of physical hazards, 5 chemical hazards, and 4 electrical hazards. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research was the dominant potential hazard come from physical hazards consisting of inadequate light, welding sparks, optical radiation, noise, high pressure gas and hoses. Some hazards inflict accidents and illness due to work on welding in confined space are welding sparks, fume, oxygen and asitelyn gases, as well as toxic and carcinogenic substance i.e. cement and coal dust. Keywords: confined space, hazard identification, welding

Abstract

Introduction: Workers in the maintenance and repair division's shipping division work in outdoor physical environments, which get hot temperatures from the environment. They cause excessive sweating while working and can cause dehydration if not drinking enough water. Methods: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between drinking habits and work climate perception with dehydration status in shipping companies' workers. The research method was analytic observational, with a cross-sectional design in 2019 in one of the shipping companies with a sample size of 49 workers who were selected using simple random sampling from 55 worker populations. The independent variables included respondent characteristics, drinking water consumption habits, and work climate perceptions, while the dependent variable was dehydration status. Dehydration status among workers was measured base on the specific gravity of urine measured in the laboratory, and the working climate was measured using a heat stress monitor. Result: The results showed that 85.71% of workers had minimum dehydration status, and 14.29% had significant dehydration. Then, there was a meaningful relationship between drinking water habits and dehydration status (r = -0.320 and p = 0.025). There was also a relationship between workers' work climate perceptions and dehydration status (r = -0.283 and p = 0.049). Conclusion: The relationship showed a weak negative meaning that the less habit of drinking water among workers, the higher the dehydration status of the workers. The more disturbed they perceive the working climate; the less dehydrated status of workers will be. So it can be ignored that there were drinking habits and the work climate perceptions with dehydrated status in shipping companies' workers. Keywords: dehydration status, drinking habits, work climate perceptions.

Abstract

Abstrak: DBD merupakan penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh virus Dengue melalui nyamuk Aedes aegypti. Berdasarkan laporan Puskesmas Bojonegoro, pada tahun 2021 hingga awal 2022 terdapat 13 kasus DBD pada Desa Sukorejo (5 orang meninggal dunia). Salah satu program pemerintah untuk menanggulangi tingginya kasus DBD adalah melalui program PSN dan 3M Plus. Untuk mendukung program tersebut, dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yaitu GEMA DARLING (Gerakan Masyarakat Sadar Lingkungan) dan GEMA PETIK (Gerakan Satu Mandiri Pemantauan Jentik) yang bertujuan untuk mengajak masyarakat turut serta menekan jumlah kasus DBD di tingkat desa. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada 20 orang yang tergabung dalam kelompok dasawisma Desa Sukorejo. Berdasarkan lembar presensi, 80% peserta telah mengikuti kegiatan GEMA DARLING, sedangkan berdasarkan observasi, 40% peserta aktif melakukan tanya jawab dan 60% peserta telah mempraktikkan penanaman tanaman kayu putih sebagai tanaman anti nyamuk. Berdasarkan observasi pada kegiatan GEMA PETIK, 60% rumah telah memiliki satu rumah satu jumantik, 60% jumantik dapat mempraktikkan pemantauan jentik secara berkala, dan 40% kader penanggungjawab dapat mempraktikkan monitoring jentik.Abstract: DHF is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus through the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Based on the Bojonegoro Health Center report, in 2021 to early 2022 there were 13 cases of DHF in Sukorejo Village (5 people died). One of the government programs to tackle the high number of dengue cases is through the PSN and 3M Plus programs. To support this program, community service activities are carried out, namely GEMA DARLING (Environmental Awareness Community Movement) and GEMA PETIK (One Independent Movement for Monitoring Larvae) which aim to invite the community to participate and reduce the number of DHF cases at the village level. This activity was carried out with 20 people who are members of the dasawisma group in Sukorejo Village. Based on the attendance sheet, 80% of the participants had participated in the GEMA DARLING activity, while based on observations, 40% of the participants were active in conducting questions and answers and 60% of the participants had practiced planting eucalyptus as an anti-mosquito plant. Based on observations on GEMA PETIK activities, 60% of households already have one jumantik house, 60% of jumantik can practice periodic larva monitoring, and 40% of responsible cadres can practice larva monitoring.

Abstract

Hasil rekapitulasi data accident menurut BPJS Ketenagakerjaan pada tahun 2017-2019 mengalami kenaikan sebanyak 9.420 kasus menjadi 183.835 kasus dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya. Salah satu penyebab accident adalah safety behavior, perilaku tersebut timbul akibat pengaruh faktor antecedent (kesadaran dan kebutuhan selamat) dan faktor consequence (positive reinforcement dan negative reinforcement). Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis faktor antecedent dan consequence dengan safety behavior pekerja outsourcing bagian packer di PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Pabrik Gresik. Jenis penelitian analitik observasional dengan desain penelitian studi cross-sectional. Metode total sampling digunakan dalam populasi kecil sebanyak 30 responden. Data primer dan sekunder didapatkan melalui wawancara, observasi, kuesioner, annual report, dan dokumen Departemen SHE untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai kesadaran, kebutuhan selamat, positive reinforcement, dan negative reinforcement. Analisis data menggunakan uji spearman untuk mengetahui kuat hubungan dengan bantuan software statistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kuat hubungan antara kesadaran (r=0,297), kebutuhan selamat (r=0,910), positive reinforcement (r=0,386), dan negative reinforcement (r=0,711) dengan safety behavior. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan kategori sangat kuat antara kebutuhan selamat dan negative reinforcement dengan safety behavior. Selain itu, terdapat hubungan kategori lemah antara kesadaran dan positive reinforcement dengan safety behavior pekerja outsourcing bagian packer di PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Pabrik Gresik.

Abstract

Introduction: Phosphoric acid production has not been achieved in the phosphoric acid industry due to unsafe actions and conditions influenced by various factors, including workplace safety. The work safety climate can measure certain perceptions of safety factors in the workplace and has seven dimensions. The demographic characteristics have a relationship with the perceptions of working safety. This study aims to analyze the work safety climate based on demographic characteristics in the phosphoric acid industry using a radar plot. Methods: The research design was a descriptive quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The population of the study is 44 workers in the phosphoric acid industry, with a total sampling of 44 employees. The dependent variable of the study was the work safety climate, and the independent variable was the demographic characteristics. The instrument employs NOSACQ-50 (50 questions) and analyzes the data with frequency tables and radar plot diagrams. Results: Dimensions management safety priority, commitment and competence were classified as good. The work safety climate is good, based on education level and age category. The work safety dimension based on job position is classified as relatively bad. Conclusion: The best dimension of work safety climate is in the foreman job position, the dimension of work safety climate is best at the education level after high school graduation, and the dimension of work safety climate is best at all age categories.

Abstract

Introduction: Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the work culture in Indonesia has changed. Many companies are implementing the Work From Home (WFH) system. This can cause a dilemma for the workforce due to the assumption that home is a place to rest, not to work. The benefits can be felt since the implementation of Work From Home (WFH). However, there are also negative impacts can be felt by the workforce due to disturbances outside of work. Conflicts between families are also common. The purpose of this study is to determine the strong relationship between marital status and mental workload with work stress in Work From Home (WFH) workers. Methods: This study is a survey research and used a cross-sectional study. The sample in this study is total population of workers in the Group of Digital BolaSport Kompas Gramedia Jakarta, which is 20 people. The variables used in this study were marital status, mental workload, and work stress. The data in this study were obtained by filling out questionnaires about individual characteristic (marital status), mental workload, and work stress. Results: Most of the workers have not married status (60%), high mental workload (55%), and medium work stress (55%). The correlation coefficient value between marital status and work stress is 0.373. Meanwhile, between mental workload and work stress it is 0.667. Conclusion: In Work From Home workers, there is a weak relationship between marital status and work stress. Besides that, there is a strong relationship between mental workload and work stress.
