Abstract

Background: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) is a series of pain felt in muscles, tendons, and nerves that arise from continuous exposure to static loads over a long period of time. MSDs complaints can be felt by various types of work including gantry luffing crane operators who work in a statically sitting and bent posture. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the strength of the correlation between age and smoking habit with MSDs complaints. Methods: The research was an analytic study design with cross-sectional study design. The sample selection was done by total population technique, namely 39 GLC operators at Port Services Company Jakarta in 2022. The research instrument used was Nordic Body Map for MSDs complaints. The data were analyzed using the Spearman rank test. Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents aged ≥ 35 years (56.4%), had a smoking habit (61.5%), and experienced high level of MSDs complaints (59.0%). Statistical tests showed the relationship between age and MSDs complaints got a correlation coefficient value of 0.528 and the relationship between smoking habits and MSDs complaints got a correlation coefficient value of 0.028. Conclusions: There is a strong relationship between age and complaints of MSDs and a very weak relationship between smoking habits and complaints of MSDs. Both age and smoking habits have a positive correlation direction with MSDs complaints. Keywords: Operator GLC, Musculoskeletal Disorders, Age, Smoking Habit

Abstract

Background: Eye injuries can result from sparks produced during welding. Photokeratitis, commonly known as welders flash, is one of the eye injuries that commonly affect welders. At least half of all accidents and suffering that have happened have been caused by photokeratitis, an eye injury that frequently results in decreased vision. Objectives: Finding out the general picture of subjective complaints of photokeratitis among welders at PT. X. Methods: A cross sectional technique was used to conduct this investigation in an analytical observational approach. The participants in this study were all PT. X welders. The complete population, or as many as 27 welders, serves as the study's sample. Data processing is  carried out with software SPSS 18 which is then carried out descriptive analysis with frequency distribution tables. Results: Based on the criteria for classifying cases according to photokeratitis symptoms, it can be seen that, out of a total of 27 welding workers, 19 respondents (70.4%) are categorized as experiencing subjective complaints of photokeratitis, while the remaining 8 respondents (29.6%) are not included in the criteria for experiencing subjective complaints of photokeratitis. Conclusions: Based on the results The majority of the welders at PT. X reportedly complained of subjective photokeratitis.

Objective: Analyzing the relationship between work posture and pain complaints in workers who are not ergonomic when working at one of the X tofu factories in Banyuwangi, especially in the position of boiling soybean porridge. Methods: Data collection was obtained through interviews and observations. The method used in analyzing data is the Ovako Working Analysis System (OWAS) to analyze work postures in workers and the Nordic Body Map (NBM) to analyze pain complaints in workers. Data analysis was carried out using the contingency coefficient test. Result: Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the posture of workers was not ergonomic at work, so it was a health risk. The results of the contingency coefficient statistical test analysis show that there is a strong relationship between work posture and musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) complaints. Conclusion: There is a strong relationship between work posture and Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD) complaints among Tofu Factory X workers in Banyuwangi, so control efforts are needed so that workers experience increased work productivity and companies also get increased profits.

Abstract

Depressive symptoms in the workplace are an occupational health issue that needs attention. Psychosocial Safety Climate (PSC) is considered one of the key factors that can protect employees’ psychological well-being. This study aims to analyze the relationship between psychosocial safety climate and depressive symptoms among employees of PT X. A quantitative cross-sectional approach was employed, involving total sampling of 30 employees. Psychosocial safety climate was measured using the PSC-12 questionnaire, while depressive symptoms were assessed using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II). Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman rank correlation test. The majority of workers were male (53%) and aged between 31–35 years (40%). Most participants were categorized as having mild depression (13 individuals; 43.3%). In terms of psychosocial safety climate, the majority were classified in the high-risk category (15 individuals; 50%). The results of the Spearman correlation test indicated a significant positive relationship between psychosocial safety climate and depressive symptoms (p < 0.001; r = 0.702). This suggests that higher levels of PSC risk are associated with higher levels of depressive symptoms among employees. Therefore, management is recommended to strengthen PSC-related practices and implement workplace-based mental health programs.

Abstract

Abstract

Lighting is an important factor in supporting visual comfort, eye health, and work productivity. This study aims to analyze the level of lighting intensity in workspaces at the Heritage Building of PT PLN (Persero) UID East Java and evaluate its compliance with applicable standards. This research used a quantitative descriptive method with direct measurements using a lux meter at five work areas, namely Distribution, Commerce, Planning, Finance, as well as Communication and General Affairs. The results showed that most workspaces had lighting intensity below the minimum standard of 300 lux based on Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 5 of 2018. Only the Finance Division met the standard with an average of 339 lux. Inadequate lighting conditions may cause visual fatigue, decreased concentration, and reduced work productivity. Therefore, improvements in the lighting system are needed through additional lamps, optimization of natural lighting, and regular lamp maintenance.
