Abstract

Highlights: • To reduce the occurrence of work-related accidents, the application of occupational safety and health principles in work activities is necessary. • This research analyzed the safety communications and safety promotion policies on the safety performance among nurses. • Safety communications have influence on safety performance, while safety promotion policies have no influence on safety performance. Abstract: The application of the occupational safety and health principles in work activities is expected to reduce the occurrence of work-related accidents. This research was conducted in the Emergency Department of a tertiary hospital of Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia, in 2019 and aimed to determine the influence of safety communications and safety promotion policies on the safety performance among nurses. This research was a quantitative research with a cross-sectional design study. The population in this study were 208 emergency room nurses at Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital with a total sample of 68 people using a simple random sampling technique. The results showed that the correlation between safety communications variable with safety performance had a p-value of 0.035 (<0.05) and the correlation between safety promotion policies variable with safety performance had a p-value of 0.319 (>0.05), indicating that there was an influence of safety communications on safety performance, while there was no influence of safety promotion policies on safety performance among nurses in the Emergency Department of Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes the influence of individual capacity and task demands on Job stress levels.Methods: This study uses an observational, cross-sectional design. All 33 workers who became the population were included as research samples. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations and analyzed using the gamma coefficient to measure the strength and direction of relationships among individual capacity, task demands, and job stress.Results: Most workers reported mild to moderate stress levels. Workplace conflict demonstrated a strong, positive relationship with job stress (γ = 0.622), indicating that higher workplace conflict is associated with greater job stress. Job certainty showed a moderate, negative relationship with job stress (γ = -0.543), indicating that lower job certainty is associated with higher job stress. Job opportunities had a powerful and negative relationship with job stress (γ = -0.907), indicating that limited employment opportunities significantly increase stress levels.Conclusion: Mental workload and job opportunities have the most substantial relationship with job stress, followed by education, tenure, physical workload, and work conflict. Therefore, interventions to address this issue by strengthening job security policies are needed to minimize stress and improve overall employee well-being.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Pekerja kantoran sering mengeluhkan kelelahan mata akibat penggunaan komputer dalam waktu lama dan radiasi gelombang elektromagnetik yang ditimbulkan oleh layar monitor. Jika keluhan tidak ditanggulangi maka ketajaman penglihatan akan menurun sehingga mengakibatkan sakit kepala, peningkatan angka kecelakaan, penurunan kualitas kerja karena pekerja kurang fokus, penurunan produktivitas kerja, dan penyakit mata bahkan hingga kebutaan. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara faktor karakteristik individu dengan munculnya keluhan CVS Metode: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian Observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Analisis bivariat dengan uji chi-square dilakukan untuk melihat hubungan antara faktor karakteristik individu dengan munculnya keluhan CVS. Responden dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 38 orang pekerja perkantoran yang menggunakan komputer ketika bekerja. Hasil: Sebanyak 15 responden (34,2%) mengalami CVS.Variabel usia (0,232), masa kerja (0,507), jarak pandang mata ke monitor (0,583), dan penggunaan alat bantu penglihatan (0,426) tidak terdapat hubungan dengan keluhan CVS sedangkan variabel durasi bekerja dengan komputer per hari (0,011) memiliki hubungan dengan keluhan CVS. Kesimpulan: Sebaiknya pekerja mengaktifkan bluelight filter dan reading mode untuk mengurangi sinar biru pada layar monitor, tidak lupa menyempatkan untuk beristirahat, dan menggunakan kacamata anti UV ketika bekerja di depan komputer.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Budaya 5R digunakan untuk mengatur kondisi dari tempat kerja dengan harapan akan memberikan pengaruh pada efektifitas dan efisiensi kerja, meningkatkan produktifitas pekerja dan meningkatkan keselamatan kerja di perusahaan. Budaya 5R merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mencegah kecelakaan kerja. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan diantara variabel ketersediaan fasilitas 5R dengan variabel perilaku 5R pekerja pada PT X yakni perusahaan industri manufaktur di Kota Surabaya. Metode: Penelitian kuantitatif dengan kusioner dan indepth interview ialah desain penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini. Sampel didalam penelitian ini memiliki jumlah sebanyak 41 responden. Penentuan sampel memakai probability sampling. Data dianalisis secara univariat serta bivariat yang dilaksanakan melalui dua variabel yang dianggap berhubungan atau memiliki korelasi. Hasil: Distribusi responden berdasarkan ketersediaan fasilitas 5R menunjukan bahwa ketersediaan fasilitas 5R memadai sebanyak 24 responden, sedangkan 17 responden menganggap ketersediaan fasilitas 5R yang kurang memadai sebanyak 17 responden. Distribusi responden berdasarkan perilaku 5R pekerja yang baik sebanyak 21 responden, sedangkan 20 responden lainnya menganggap perilaku 5R pekerja masih kurang baik. Hasil analisis bivariat menunjukan adanya korelasi diantara variabel ketersediaan fasilitas 5R dengan perilaku 5R pekerja (0,019 <0,050) Kesimpulan: Ketersediaan fasilitas penunjang 5R memiliki hubungan dengan perilaku 5R pekerja. Kedepannya perusahaan dapat memberikan dukungan untuk pemenuhan fasilitas penunjang 5R dan memberikan program terkait 5R untuk memaksimalkan perilaku 5R pekerja menjadi lebih baik.

Abstract

Workplace noise is one of the common environmental problems, especially in heavy industries such as cement. Loud noise produced by machines and heavy equipment often exceeds the established Threshold Limit Value (TLV). High noise exposure can cause hearing loss, stress, and other health problems. One of the possible impacts is changes in blood pressure, which can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. This study aims to explore the relationship between noise generated at the Finish Mill and workers' blood pressure, as well as to identify preventive measures that can be implemented to protect workers' health and improve working conditions at PT. Semen X. The method used in this study was a cross-sectional study conducted at PT. Semen X in July 2024. Based on the chi-square test, age, length of service, length of exposure, use of PPE, and medical history showed that workers' normal blood pressure was more common before work, while after work their blood pressure tended to increase. The conclusion of this study shows that the intensity of noise in the finish mill section is quite high and health disorders in blood pressure in workers show signs of hypertension or abnormal blood pressure fluctuations.

Abstract

Background: The implementation of shift work systems across various industrial sectors in Indonesia has increased to support 24-hour operations. However, shift work may increase work-related stress and negatively affect employee performance. Previous studies have reported varied findings depending on sector and job characteristics. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the relationship between shift work systems and work stress on employee performance in Indonesia. Method: This study employed a systematic literature review method, with data sources obtained from Google Scholar, Garuda, ResearchGate, and Semantic Scholar. A total of six articles were selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Shift work systems and work stress are associated with employee performance, both partially and simultaneously. Work stress has a direct relationship with performance, while shift work is indirectly related through increased stress. In the manufacturing sector, work stress is more dominant, whereas in the healthcare sector, the relationship of shift work is stronger. In the modern retail sector, the relationship of both variables varies depending on work management practices. Conclusion: In general, shift work systems are associated with employee performance through increased work stress. Therefore, effective shift system management and the implementation of stress management are important factors in maintaining employee performance. Abstrak Latar Belakang: Penerapan sistem shift kerja di berbagai sektor industri Indonesia semakin meningkat untuk mendukung operasional 24 jam. Namun, berpotensi meningkatkan stres kerja yang berdampak pada kinerja karyawan. Hasil penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa hubungan tersebut bervariasi antar sektor industri dan karakteristik pekerjaan. Tujuan: untuk menganalisis hubungan sistem shift kerja dan stres kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan di Indonesia. Metode: Menggunakan metode tinjauan literatur sistematis, dengan sumber data dari Google Scholar, Garuda, ResearchGate, dan Semantic Scholar. Sebanyak 6 artikel dipilih berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi yang telah ditentukan. Hasil: Sistem shift kerja dan stres kerja berhubungan dengan kinerja karyawan, baik secara parsial maupun simultan. Stres kerja terbukti berhubungan langsung terhadap kinerja. Sementara itu, hubungan shift kerja terjadi secara tidak langsung melalui peningkatan stres. Pada sektor manufaktur, stres kerja lebih dominan, sedangkan pada sektor kesehatan hubungan shift kerja lebih kuat. Pada sektor ritel modern, hubungan keduanya bervariasi tergantung pengelolaan kerja. Kesimpulan: Secara umum, sistem shift kerja berhubungan dengan kinerja karyawan melalui peningkatan stres kerja. Oleh karena itu, pengelolaan sistem shift dan penerapan manajemen stres menjadi faktor penting dalam menjaga kinerja karyawan.

Abstract

Background: Burnout represents a growing occupational health concern within corporate environments, manifesting in reduced productivity, absenteeism, and declining mental and physical well-being. Purpose: To synthesize evidence on preventive strategies for occupational burnout among corporate employees. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines, using Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and SpringerLink (2020–2025). Studies were identified using PICOS inclusion criteria and appraised with the Joanna Briggs Institute checklist. Results: Individual programs including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy based resilience training, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy tools, and workplace exercise reduced exhaustion while enhancing psychological flexibility and mental health literacy. Organizational approaches like security-providing leadership and psychoeducation with managerial consultation improved psychological safety. The strongest effects occurred when individual coping resources were supported by organizational structures. Although studies focused on corporate employees, differences in culture and context may limit generalization. Conclusion: Preventing burnout is most effective through combined individual and organisational measures. Sustainable, leadership-supported, technology-based programmes are recommended for long-term well-being and productivity. Abstrak Latar belakang: Burnout adalah masalah kesehatan kerja di korporasi, berdampak pada produktivitas, absensi, serta kesejahteraan mental dan fisik. Tujuan: Mensintesis bukti terkini strategi pencegahan burnout pada karyawan korporasi. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan Systematic Literature Review (SLR) berdasarkan pedoman PRISMA melalui Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, dan SpringerLink (2020–2025). Berdasarkan kriteria PICOS, studi memenuhi syarat dipilih dan dinilai menggunakan daftar tilik JBI. Hasil: Beragam intervensi menunjukkan manfaat. Program individu seperti pelatihan resiliensi berbasis Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, alat kreatif berbasis Cognitive Behavioural Therapy menurunkan burnout, meningkatkan fleksibilitas psikologis, efektivitas profesional, dan literasi kesehatan mental. Pendekatan organisasi seperti kepemimpinan yang memberi rasa aman dan psikoedukasi terpadu dengan konsultasi manajerial memperkuat keselamatan psikologis dan dukungan kerja. Efek terbaik muncul saat sumber daya individu mendapat dukungan organisasi. Meskipun studi berfokus pada karyawan korporasi, perbedaan budaya, durasi intervensi, dan konteks perusahaan dapat membatasi generalisasi temuan. Kesimpulan: Pencegahan burnout efektif melalui integrasi pendekatan individu dan organisasi. Program berkelanjutan yang didukung kepemimpinan dan teknologi direkomendasikan untuk kesejahteraan dan produktivitas jangka panjang.

Abstract

This research was conducted to see the effectiveness of the procurement of work music on labor productivity. This study uses a systematic review method by finding 15 types of research articles, research articles are considered inclusion criteria based on PICOS (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Study Design Results, Year of Publication, and Language) as follows: 1) human sample, 2) work music intervention, 3) comparison of giving work music and not giving work music, 4) results: work productivity, 5) research articles, 6) articles published in 2012 until 2022, 7) in English and Indonesian. Procurement of work music is associated with increased worker productivity. This is indicated by research relevant to the increase in productivity. A 2014 study found that music had a significant effect on work morale and work productivity. This is also reinforced by evidence that the higher the morale, the higher the productivity of the workforce. Based on the results of a systematic review conducted, it shows that occupational safety and health programs in the form of procurement of work music are able to increase worker productivity found in various types of work so that they can optimally increase the benefits of the employer agency.

Abstract

Industri konstruksi merupakan sektor padat karya dengan potensi paparan debu tinggi yang dapat menimbulkan gangguan kesehatan pernapasan pada pekerja. Data pengukuran lingkungan kerja di PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk Pasuruan menunjukkan adanya variasi konsentrasi debu total (Total Suspended Particulate/TSP) pada beberapa jalur produksi, dengan nilai tertinggi mencapai 1 mg/m³ di ruang produksi. Kondisi ini berpotensi melampaui nilai referensi risiko kesehatan dan memerlukan kajian kuantitatif untuk mengetahui tingkat risikonya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menilai risiko paparan TSP terhadap pekerja produksi menggunakan metode Analisis Risiko Kesehatan Lingkungan (ARKL). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei 2025 dengan menggunakan data sekunder hasil pengukuran konsentrasi TSP pada beberapa area kerja, yang selanjutnya dihitung nilai Intake dan Risk Quotient (RQ).  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada Ruang Produksi Jalur 4 dengan konsentrasi TSP 1 mg/m³, nilai intake sebesar 0,0826 mg/kg/hari dengan RQ 4,13 (>1), menandakan potensi gangguan kesehatan. Sedangkan, pada area Wire Cagging Jalur 1-2 dan Jalur 6 dengan konsentrasi TSP 0,02 mg/m³, nilai RQ 0,08 (<1), masih dalam kategori aman. Upaya pengendalian risiko meliputi penerapan ventilasi mekanis sesuai SNI 03-6572-2001 pada area tertutup, housekeeping, pemantauan berkala, dan penggunaan alat pelindung diri.

Abstract

Background: Work accidents are generally caused by unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. The STOP observation program (Safety Training Observation Program) is a form of Behavior Based Safety (BBS) with the focus being observed on human factor. In practice, what is done is to analyze the reasons workers do, and apply it with the aim to improve their behavior towards safe actions.   Objectives: This study aims to study the implementation of the STOP observation program and the causes of unsafe acts and unsafe conditions at a Steam Power Plant Companies (PLTU) in East Java. Methods: This research was a descriptive observational study, with a cross sectional approach. The data used in this study were sourced from observations of the work environment, interviews with resource persons and company secondary data. The data analysis used in this research is qualitative. Results: The STOP observation program was carried out by all workers with two-way communication. In 2020 there were 639 observers, while in 2021 there are 2,321 observers. In 2020 there were 4,212 unsafe acts (1.51%) and in 2021 there were 8,226 unsafe acts (1.65%). Meanwhile, there were 1,878 (2.56%) for unsafe conditions in 2020 and 2,512 (1.71%) in 2021. Conclusions: The implementation of STOP observations had been going quite well, there is an increase in observations, but unsafe actions and conditions are still found in the work process.
