Abstract

The objectives of this study are to analyze the need to develop supplementary book of writing skills for beginner with local wisdom content for second grade elementary school students, develop an supplementary book products, and test the effectiveness of supplementary book products. This research used a research and development method with seven steps, they are a preliminary study, analysis of development needs, initial product development, product validation and product revision, small-scale trials and product revisions, wide-scale trials and product improvement, final products. Research data were collected through a needs questionnaire, validation sheets, pre-test and post-test questions, and response questionnaires. The results of the research show that supplementary writing books are needed in the process of learning of writing for beginner. The results of the validation of the supplementary book are 74.69% with a valid category and the learning outcomes of the aspects of knowledge and skills improve with the score of n-gain 0.63 in the aspects of knowledge and 0.57 in the aspects of skills. Based on the results of the validation and effectiveness test the effective supplementary book is used as a complement book in the learning process.

Abstract

Register is language use in each aspect of life which has specific language and it is not understood by other people. Railway trip regulator officer is a profession in which during communicating is assumed to have register. The data source of this research consisted of the train trip regulator officer conversational excerpts which were assumed to have register.  The data collection techniques were listening method to understand the language use. This method has basic technique called tapping technique. Tapping technique refers to recording activity toward language use both orally and written. Within its practice, recording technique was entailed by advance technique. It was participant observation, recording, and noting. The findings showed that there were two register realizations of the officer. They were based on linguistic unit and grammatical category. Besides the linguistic unit, there are also several registers in the forms of phrases. All data consisted of 129 registers, 22 of them were realized into root words, 5 of them suffixed words, 9 of them in the form of abbreviation, 1 in the form of acronym, 12 of them in the form of compound words, 2 of them repetitive words, 82 of them in the form of phrases.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bentuk, makna kultural, dan fungsi satuan-satuan lingual yang terdapat dalam tradisi Ngalungi Sapi di Desa Sekarsari, Kecamatan Sumber, Kabupaten Rembang. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ada dua jenis, yakni pendekatan teoretis dan pendekatan metodologis. Pendekatan teoretis menggunakan pendekatan etnolinguistik, sedangkan pendekatan metodologis yaitu dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif etnografi. Dari hasil penelitian dapat ditunjukkan pertama, bentuk-bentuk satuan lingual yang terdapat dalam tradisi Ngalungi Sapi meliputi kata, frasa, klausa, kalimat, dan wacana. Kedua, secara garis besar makna kultural dari tradisi Ngalungi Sapi yaitu sebagai wujud rasa syukur para petani kepada Tuhan atas rezeki yang telah diberikan berupa hasil panen padi. Sapi sebagai raja kaya telah membantu petani selama masa tanam. Maka dari itu, dibuatkanlah ketupat dan lepet sebagai sajian utama dalam tradisi ini. Ketiga, fungsi satuan-satuan lingual dalam tradisi Ngalungi Sapi meliputi sarana ritual, wujud doa dan harapan, menamai bahan-bahan masakan, dan menamai proses memasak. Abstract

The role of online media is really essential in society because it fosters and encourages the public opinion. Therefore, online media could be the most effective interest mean to achieve certain massive purposes, including the reports of certain actor's images. It allows social actor's images to not being reported objectively but instead processed and managed. Thus, it could be said there is a correlation between the language and the domination in the discourse practice to create ideologies with certain purposes. The point, the mass media has its specific powers to control its information display so its neutrality in the mass media is doubtful. So as this research, the images of social actor’s images, the candidate of Central-Java election 2018, become the focused problems to analyze by Theo van Leeuwen theory. The data sample was obtained from the report discourse in online mass media, such as Kumparan.com, Tribunnews.com, and Sindonews.com about the Central-Java Election 2018, from April-June 2018. The analysis was based on the deletion strategy in which covered suppression and backgrounding. The results showed that Kumparan.com tended to apply suppression in merging the social actors, Ganjar Pranowo-Taj Yasin and backgrounding in the form of a phrase “politikus PDIP, mantan anggota DPR RI yang diperiksa KPK”. (The PDIP politician, the ex of the House whom is investigated by Corruption Eradication Comission). Meanwhile, Tribunnews.com applied backgrounding in the form of “sang petahana” or “incumbent”, meanwhile Sindonews.com did not either put certain social actors in advantage nor marginalize them.

PEMERTAHANAN BAHASA JAWADALAM PERTUNJUKAN KESENIAN TRADISONAL DI JAWA TENGAHHari Bakti MardikantoroFBS Universitas Negeri Semarangemail: haribaktim@mail.unnes.ac,idAbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan bentuk pemertahanan bahasa Jawa danmendeskripsikan faktor sosial budaya yang mempengaruhi pemertahanan bahasa Jawadalam pertunjukan kesenian tradisional di Jawa Tengah. Data dalam penelitian ini dijaringdengan menggunakan metode simak. Analisis data dilakukan melalui dua prosedur,yaitu (1) analisis selama proses pengumpulan data dan (2) analisis setelah pengumpulandata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk pemertahanan bahasa Jawa dalampertunjukkan kesenian tradisional di Jawa Tengah meliputi bentuk prakata, tembang, doa,dan pantun. Abstract

The Malay language that is spoken in Karimun Regency is a unique and diverse language. The uniqueness and diversity of the Malay language lies in phonology. The purpose of this study is to analyze the phonological variations and phonological differences of the Malay language in Karimun Regency, Riau Islands. The focused places of this study are located in three districts, namely Karimun District, West-Kundur District and Moro District. This study uses a dialect geography approach and qualitative descriptive. The data were collected by using the listening that is followed by simak libat cakap method, recording, and taking notes technique. The results showed that the Karimun Malay language has phonological variations in the form of vowel and consonant variations. Phonological variations happen due to geographic locations between different observation areas and they are obliviously limited to other regions. The phonological differences of the Karimun Malay language in the three observation places are categorized in speech difference. The results of data calculated is analyzed the phonological dialectometric method of Karimun Malay language in the three observation places is 4-7% in percentage.

Abstract

The education is considered as the main point of progress of a nation. The news that is about education is a topic that is always discussed in almost every mass media. The aim of this research is to identify and analyze textual practices of educational news discourse on Kompas.com and Tempo.co media. The approach used in this study includes a methodological approach, namely qualitative descriptive, and a theoretical approach that is called Norman Fairglough's critical discourse analysis. Based on this study, the vocabulary aspect is found that the use of experience values includes the use of ideological and metaphorical vocabulary. The relational values which contain the use of euphemisms and formal-informal words, and expressive values which contains the use of positive and negative evaluation sentences in the text. The importance of this research for the society is to raise critical awareness of all information developing in the digital world

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan menjelaskan bentuk dan makna kultural satuan lingual pada tradisi Manten Tebu di pabrik gula Pangkah, Kabupaten Tegal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan teoretis yang berfokus pada kajian etnolinguistik dan pendekatan metodologis menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan metode simak dan metode cakap. Metode analisis data menggunakan metode agih dan metode padan. Penyajian hasil analisis data menggunakan metode formal dan metode informal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya 45 data satuan lingual. Data tersebut dikategorikan berdasarkan penamaan dan bentuk formal bahasa. Berdasarkan penamaan data meliputi, peralatan dan perlengkapan, bahan sesajen, bahan makananm, serta tahapan dan rangkaian acara. Berdsarkan bentuk formal bahasa diklasifikasikan menjadi 4 bentuk, yakni kata, frasa, klausa, dan wacana. Satuan lingual yang ditemukan pada bentuk kata berjumlah 25 data yang berketegori monomorfemis dan polimorfemis. Satuan lingual yang ditemukan pada bentuk frasa berjumlah 14 data. Satuan lingual yang ditemukan pada bentuk klausa berjumlah 4 data. Sementara itu, satuan lingual yang ditemukan pada bentuk wacana berjumlah 2 data. Satuan lingual pada tradisi Manten Tebu memiliki makna kultural yang terkandung dan merupakan cerminanan masyarakat setempat yang berupa nilai-nilai dan ajaran baik serta doa dan harapan untuk memohon keselamatan, kelancaran, dan keberkahan. This study aims to analyze and explain the form and cultural meaning of the lingual unit in the Manten Tebu tradition at the Pangkah sugar factory, Tegal Regency. This research uses a theoretical approach that focuses on ethnolinguistic studies and methodologically uses descriptive qualitative. The data collection method uses the listening method and proficient method. Methods of data analysis using the split method and the equivalent method. Presentation of the results of data analysis using formal methods and informal methods. The results showed that there were 45 lingual unit data. The data are categorized based on naming and the formal form of the language. Based on the naming of data includes, tools and equipment, offering materials, food ingredients, as well as stages and series of events. Based on the formal form, the language is classified into 4 forms, namely words, phrases, clauses, and discourses. The lingual units found in the word form consist of 25 data which are categorized as monomorphemic and polymorphemic. The lingual units found in the form of the phrase total 14 data. The lingual units found in the clause form are 4 data points. Meanwhile, the lingual units found in the form of discourse amount to 2 data. The lingual unit in the Manten Tebu tradition has a cultural meaning and is a reflection of the local community in the form of good values ​​and teachings as well as prayers and hopes to ask for safety, fluency, and blessings.

Abstract

This article aimed to describe metaphorical utterance meaning inside of discourse of president, parliament, and major national election 2014. The approach used was a qualitative descriptive approach. The data was the extract of the campaign discourse. The data analysis was done by using a normative method, referential method, and reflective introspective method. The meaning of metaphorical extension inside of the campaign based on comparative theory were (1) objects to refer things, (2) objects to refer situation, (3) objects to refer action, (4) place to refer place, (5) place to refer situation, (6) action to refer action, (7) action to refer situation, (8) situation to refer situation, (9) situation to refer action, and (10) time to refer time. Metaphorical meaning based on interactive theory covers the meaning of metaphorical utterances which changes its meaning into directive meaning tended to or reverse.

Abstract

Conservation news texts contain the expression of language on conservation events or issues presented based on arguments related to the vision of the university (Universitas Negeri Semarang) with conservation. Conservation is an important and sensitive issue for the community. This is because it is commonly associated with institutional policy or ideology. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of ecolexicon in conservation text in mass media. The theoretical framework used is ecolinguistics. Then, the data used is a conservation news text containing ecolexicon. The data source is from the mass media at webpage www.unnes.ac.id which has relatively a large number of text data of conservation so that the data will be more varied. Method of data collection is done by employing simak method, literature study method, and documentation method. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by ecolinguistic study using the method of padan and agih. Based on data analysis, it is found that ecolexicon forms are found in the conservation news text, i.e., basic words, derivative words, phrases, and expression. The ecolexicon forms found in the conservation news text can be classified into two types of referents, i.e. biotic references (flora/fauna) and abiotic referents. The results of this study can contribute theoretically and practically in the field of linguistics, language learning, journalism, and public policy. For this reason, the study of ecolinguistics in conservation news text in the mass media deserves to be given space as a form of prospective eco-linguistic analysis.
