Abstract

A broken-home refers to a family condition marked by disharmony, parental conflict, or separation that disrupts emotional stability and adaptation in children. University students from broken-home backgrounds often experience psychological pressures such as loneliness, loss of parental figures, and difficulties in regulating emotions. This study aims to describe the types of pressures encountered, the coping strategies employed, and the role of social support in helping students deal with these challenges. The research used a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with four students from broken-home families. The results revealed that students used two main types of coping strategies: problem-focused coping through problem-solving efforts and seeking social support, and emotion-focused coping through self-control, reflection, and positive activities such as writing or praying. Peer support emerged as a crucial factor that strengthened resilience and promoted self-acceptance among participants. This study suggests that guidance and counseling services in higher education should focus on reinforcing adaptive coping strategies, fostering supportive social environments, and developing psychoeducational programs to enhance resilience and psychological well-being among students from broken-home families. ____________________________________________________________Keluarga broken-home merupakan kondisi di mana keharmonisan keluarga terganggu akibat konflik, perceraian, atau ketidakhadiran salah satu orang tua, yang berdampak pada kestabilan emosional dan kemampuan adaptasi anak. Mahasiswa yang berasal dari keluarga broken-home sering menghadapi tekanan psikologis seperti kesepian, kehilangan figur, dan kesulitan dalam mengelola emosi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk tekanan yang dialami, strategi coping yang digunakan, serta peran dukungan sosial dalam membantu mahasiswa menghadapi tekanan tersebut. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif  deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur terhadap empat mahasiswa dari keluarga broken-home. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa menggunakan dua bentuk strategi coping utama, yaitu problem-focused coping melalui upaya penyelesaian masalah dan pencarian dukungan sosial, serta emotion-focused coping melalui pengendalian diri, refleksi, dan kegiatan positif seperti menulis atau berdoa. Dukungan teman sebaya terbukti menjadi faktor penting yang memperkuat resiliensi dan menumbuhkan rasa penerimaan diri. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar layanan bimbingan dan konseling di perguruan tinggi lebih berfokus pada penguatan strategi coping adaptif, membangun lingkungan sosial yang suportif, serta mengembangkan program psikoedukasi untuk meningkatkan resiliensi dan kesejahteraan psikologis mahasiswa broken-home.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the influence of school climate and self-control on truancy behavior among junior high school students. A quantitative approach with an ex-post facto design. The sampling technique is purposive sampling in three schools in Surabaya City for grades 7 and 8, involving 143 students. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires on school climate (133 items), self-control (29 items), and truancy behavior (45 items). Data analysis was performed using normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, simple and multiple linear regression tests. The research findings revealed that there was an effect of X1 on Y (t value = |-11.966| > 1.977; sig 0.00 < 0.05) of 50.4%, there was an effect of X2 on Y (t value = |-11.317| > 1.977; sig 0.00 < 0.05) of 47.6%, and there is an effect of X1 and X2 on Y (F value = 99.044 > 3.06; sig 0.001< 0.05) of 58.6%. Descriptive analysis shows that all three variables are in the moderate range, namely X1 72.7%, X2 67.1%, and Y 67.8%. The research results can provide additional data to schools to improve the quality of the school climate and increase self-control through counseling services with the support of various parties.  ____________________________________________________________________Penelitian dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui pengaruh iklim sekolah dan self control terhadap perilaku membolos siswa SMP. Pendekatan secara kuantitatif dengan desain ex-post facto. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu purposive sampling di tiga sekolah Kota Surabaya kelas 7 dan 8 sebanyak 143 siswa. Pengumpulan data melalui angket iklim sekolah (133 item), self control (29 item), dan perilaku membolos (45 item). Analisis data dengan uji normalitas, multikoleniaritas, heteroskedastsitas, regresi linear sederhana dan berganda. Temuan riset mengungkapkan ada pengaruh X1 terhadap Y (nilai t= |-11,966| > 1,977; sig 0,00 < 0,05) sebesar 50,4%, ada pengaruh X2 terhadap Y (nilai t = |-11,317| > 1,977; sig 0,00 < 0,05) sebesar 47,6%, dan ada pengaruh X1 dan X2 terhadap Y (nilai F = 99,044 > 3,06; sig 0,001< 0,05) sebesar 58,6%. Analisis deskriptif menunjukkan ketiga variabel pada kelompok sedang yaitu X1 72,7%, X2 67,1%, dan Y 67,8%. Hasil riset dapat menambah data kepada pihak sekolah untuk memperbaiki kualitas iklim sekolah dan meningkatkan self control melalui layanan BK dengan dukungan berbagai pihak.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study is to examine the influence of academic self-efficacy and peer support on students’ learning motivation in mathematics among junior high school students. It aims to identify whether academic self-efficacy and peer relationships contribute to increasing learning motivation in mathematics both partially and simultaneously. Methodology: This study using a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design involving 345 junior high school students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using standardized academic self-efficacy, peer support, and learning motivation scales. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression and multiple linear regression through SPSS version 27 to determine the magnitude and significance of the relationships. Main Findings: The findings revealed that academic self-efficacy and peer support both have significant positive effects on students’ learning motivation in mathematics. Academic self-efficacy emerged as the strongest predictor, while peer support acted as an important factor enhancing students’ learning motivation in mathematics. Simultaneously, both variables explained a substantial portion of the variance in mathematics learning motivation. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study shows that motivation to learn mathematics can be influenced by academic self-efficacy and peer support. It is important for teachers to involve peers in the learning process and providing valuable insights for guidance and counseling teachers to foster supportive and confidence-building learning conditions.

Abstract

The research is motivated by the need for career maturity to help students choose the right educational path, as many students lack readiness. This is due to low career planning skills, limited knowledge about further education and the workforce, and the tendency to follow peers' choices without considering their own potential. Using a quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design, the study involved a population of 4,383 students with a sample of 367 students selected through cluster random sampling. The instruments used include Career Maturity Inventory (validity 0.306-0.610, reliability 0.734), General Self efficacy (validity 0.488-0.748, reliability 0.850), and Rotter's Locus of control (validity 0.153-0.791, reliability 0.911). Data were analyzed using Kendall's Tau and Kendall's W techniques. The results showed a significant relationship between “self efficacy” and career maturity (p = 0.000, r = 0.387), locus of control and career maturity (p = 0.000, r = 0.137), and a significant relationship between “self efficacy” and locus of control with career maturity (p = 0.000, W = 0.755). The findings confirm that “self efficacy” and belief in locus of control significantly affect career maturity. The role of counseling teachers is needed in supporting the development of students' self-efficacy and locus of control through directed and continuous counseling services, and this research encourages the development of holistic career guidance programs and further research on external factors. Tujuan penelitian ini mengkaji keterkaitan antara “self efficacy” dan “locus of control” dengan kematangan karier siswa SMA. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis ex post facto melalui desain korelasional, yang memiliki populasi 4.383 siswa dengan sampel 367 siswa yang dipilih melalui stratified random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi Career Maturity Inventory (validitas 0,306–0,610, reliabilitas 0,734), General Self efficacy (validitas 0,488–0,748, reliabilitas 0,850), dan Rotter's Locus of control (validitas 0,153–0,791, reliabilitas 0,911). Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik Kendall’s Tau dan Kendall’s W. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara self efficacy dan kematangan karier (p = 0,000, r = 0,387), locus of control dan kematangan karier (p = 0,000, r = 0,137), serta hubungan signifikan antara self efficacy dan locus of control dengan kematangan karier (p = 0,000, W = 0,755). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwasanya percaya diri dan keyakinan terhadap kontrol diri sangat memengaruhi kesiapan karier. Peran guru BK dibutuhkan dalam mendukung pengembangan self efficacy dan locus of control siswa melalui layanan konseling yang terarah dan berkesinambungan, serta penelitian ini mendorong pengembangan program bimbingan karier holistik dan penelitian lanjutan mengenai faktor eksternal.

Abstract

Social interaction is the primary foundation for creating a harmonious and cohesive society. In the context of modernization, globalization, and the development of individualistic lifestyles, as well as the intensity of social interactions within society, particularly in the field of education, religious activities and local religious practices hold a strategic role as a means to foster and strengthen social ties among members of the community. The purpose of this article is to examine the routine cultural activities of Yasin-Tahlil as a means to enhance social interaction among the residents of Jatikalang Village, Krian Subdistrict. The author of this article employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing literature analysis and social analysis in relation to the practical implementation of Yasin-Tahlil activities in the community. The focus is on how these activities are conducted, how the community participates, and the existing social norms. The findings of the analysis indicate that the Yasin-Tahlil activities are more than just a means of worship. In addition to strengthening the religious and cultural identity of the community, these activities can foster social cohesion, solidarity, and brotherhood. Thus, the routine of Yasin-Tahlil makes a significant contribution to improving the quality of social interaction and strengthening the social cohesion of the Jatikalang Village community. The preservation and strengthening of such cultural-religious activities are essential for promoting social harmony and the sustainability of the community's way of life in the face of social change. ABSTRAK Interaksi sosial merupakan dasar utama untuk menciptakan masyarakat yang harmonis dan kohesif. Dalam konteks modernisasi, globalisasi, dan perkembangan gaya hidup individualistis, serta intensitas interaksi sosial di dalam masyarakat , khususnya di bidang pendidikan ,. Dalam konteks ini , kegiatan keagamaan dan keagamaan lokal memiliki peran strategis sebagai sarana untuk membina dan memperkuat ikatan sosial di antara masyarakat . Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk meneliti kegiatan budaya rutin Yasin - Tahlil dalam rangka meningkatkan interaksi sosial di antara warga Desa Jatikalang, Kecamatan Krian. Penulis artikel ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan analisis literatur dan analisis sosial dalam kaitannya dengan implementasi praktis kegiatan Yasin - Tahlil di masyarakat. Fokusnya adalah pada bagaimana kegiatan tersebut dilakukan , bagaimana masyarakat berpartisipasi , dan norma - norma sosial yang ada . Temuan analisis menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan Yasin - Tahlil lebih dari sekadar​​​​​​sarana ibadah. Selain memperkuat identitas keagamaan dan budaya masyarakat , kegiatan ini dapat menumbuhkan kohesi sosial , solidaritas dan persaudaraan . Dengan demikian , rutinitas Yasin - Tahlil memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan kualitas interaksi sosial dan memperkuat kohesi sosial masyarakat Desa Jatikalang . Pelestarian dan penguatan kegiatan budaya - keagamaan semacam ini sangat penting untuk mendorong keharmonisan sosial dan keberlanjutan cara hidup masyarakat dalam menghadapi perubahan sosial.​

Abstract

Indonesia boasts a diverse range of cultures spread across its regions. Culture is a national identity; every country in the world certainly has its own. Culture can function to shape the attitudes and behavior of a group of people, and can serve as a guide for life in conducting themselves. Globalization also triggers a shift in societal mindsets from traditional perspectives to more logical and rational thinking. One effort to prepare and fortify adolescents in the era of globalization is to build adolescent character based on local cultural values. In this context, the role of multicultural guidance and counseling becomes crucial. The purpose of this study is to uncover the internalization of local cultural values ​​​​of the okol wrestling tradition through multicultural guidance and counseling. This study used a qualitative approach with a literature study method (library research) with a period of 2020-2025. Data collection was carried out using a literature review technique, namely by collecting secondary data from various relevant and credible sources. The results of the study show that the okol wrestling tradition is a local cultural tradition that is not only recreational or competitive, but also contains educational and psychosocial values, including: (1) Sportsmanship, (2) Emotional control, (3) Social solidarity and togetherness, (4) respect for others. Through the internalization of the okol wrestling cultural values ​​in this multicultural counseling guidance, it also contributes to strengthening the local cultural identity of students, fostering a sense of pride and love for their own regional culture, and can reduce individualistic values ​​that tend to emerge as a result of globalization. ABSTRAK Indonesia memiliki beragam macam budaya yang tersebar di berbagai penjuru wilayah. Budaya merupakan identitas bangsa, setiap negara di dunia pasti memiliki budayanya masing-masing. Budaya dapat berfungsi membentuk sikap dan perilaku suatu golongan masyarakat, serta dapat menjadi pedoman hidup dalam bertingkah laku. Globalisasi juga memicu pergeseran pola pikir masyarakat dari cara pandang tradisional menuju pemikiran yang lebih logis dan rasional. Salah satu upaya untuk mempersiapakan dan membentengi remaja dalam era globalisasi adalah membangun karakter remaja berbasis nilai budaya lokal. Dalam konteks inilah peran bimbingan dan konseling multikultural menjadi sangat penting. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengungkap internalisasi nilai budaya lokal tradisi gulat okol melalui bimbingan konseling multikultural. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literatur (library researchca) dengan rentang tahun 2020-2025. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik kajian pustaka, yaitu dengan menghimpun data sekunder dari berbagai sumber yang relevan dan kredibel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi gulat okol merupakan tradisi budaya lokal yang tidak hanya bersifat rekreatif ataupun kompetitif saja, melainkan juga mengandung nilai-nilai edukatif dan psikososial antara lain : (1) Sportivitas, (2) Pengendalian emosi, (3) Solidaritas sosial dan kebersamaan, (4) penghargaan terhadap orang lain. Melalui internalisasi nilai budaya gulat okol dalam bimbingan konseling multikultural ini turut memberikan kontribusi dalam menguatkan identitas budaya lokal siswa, menumbuhkan rasa bangga dan cinta terhadap budaya daerah sendiri, serta dapat mengurangi nilai-nilai individualis yang cenderung muncul akibat dari globalisasi.

Abstract

The Ruwah Desa tradition represents a form of local wisdom within Javanese society that embodies social, spiritual, and psychological values and continues to be preserved in rural communities, including Rangkah Kidul Village, Sidoarjo Regency. This study aims to examine the meaning of the Ruwah Desa tradition and its relevance to the development of multicultural counseling grounded in local wisdom. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Participants were selected purposively and included traditional leaders, religious figures, village officials, and community members actively involved in the implementation of the tradition. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Ruwah Desa tradition embodies values of communal spirituality, mutual cooperation, social solidarity, intergenerational value transmission, and environmental awareness, which contribute to strengthening social cohesion and collective emotional regulation within the community. These values are strongly aligned with the principles of multicultural counseling, particularly in promoting contextual, inclusive, and community-based counseling services. This study contributes to the enrichment of multicultural counseling discourse by integrating local cultural practices as psychosocial resources in counseling and guidance services. ABSTRAK Tradisi Ruwah Desa merupakan bentuk kearifan lokal masyarakat Jawa yang mengandung nilai-nilai sosial, spiritual, dan psikologis yang masih terpelihara dalam kehidupan masyarakat pedesaan, termasuk di Desa Rangkah Kidul, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji makna tradisi Ruwah Desa serta relevansinya bagi pengembangan konseling multibudaya berbasis kearifan lokal. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ditentukan secara purposive, melibatkan tokoh adat, tokoh agama, aparat desa, dan masyarakat yang terlibat aktif dalam pelaksanaan tradisi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara interaktif melalui proses reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi Ruwah Desa mengandung nilai spiritualitas komunal, gotong royong, solidaritas sosial, pewarisan nilai lintas generasi, serta kepedulian terhadap lingkungan yang berperan dalam memperkuat kohesi sosial dan regulasi emosi kolektif masyarakat. Nilai-nilai tersebut memiliki kesesuaian yang kuat dengan prinsip konseling multibudaya, khususnya dalam menghadirkan layanan konseling yang kontekstual, inklusif, dan berbasis komunitas. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pengayaan kajian konseling multibudaya melalui integrasi praktik budaya lokal sebagai sumber daya psikososial dalam layanan bimbingan dan konseling.

Abstract

Gender inequality in education, manifested through unequal role distribution, negative labeling, and bullying, can hinder students' psychological and academic development. This study focuses on analyzing the role of a multicultural counseling approach as an intervention strategy to foster gender equality and sensitivity in schools. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various theoretical references and relevant research results on multicultural counseling and gender issues. The research findings indicate that the implementation of multicultural counseling, both through individual and group services, is effective in helping students identify biased social constructs, reduce stereotypes, and develop empathy and mutual respect amidst diversity. This approach is not only preventive against discrimination but also transformative in creating an inclusive and safe school climate. The main conclusion emphasizes that multicultural counseling is a crucial instrument that requires counselor competence in recognizing cultural and gender biases, in order to create a just educational environment and support the sustainable self-actualization of all students. ABSTRAK Ketimpangan gender dalam pendidikan, yang termanifestasi melalui pembagian peran tidak seimbang, pelabelan negatif, hingga perundungan, dapat menghambat perkembangan psikologis dan akademik siswa. Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis peran pendekatan konseling multikultural sebagai strategi intervensi untuk menumbuhkan kesetaraan dan sensitivitas gender di sekolah. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dengan mengkaji berbagai referensi teoritis dan hasil penelitian relevan mengenai konseling multikultural dan isu gender. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi konseling multikultural, baik melalui layanan individu maupun kelompok, efektif membantu siswa mengidentifikasi konstruksi sosial yang bias, mereduksi stereotip, serta mengembangkan empati dan sikap saling menghargai di tengah keberagaman. Pendekatan ini tidak hanya bersifat preventif terhadap diskriminasi, tetapi juga transformatif dalam menciptakan iklim sekolah yang inklusif dan aman. Simpulan utama menegaskan bahwa konseling multikultural merupakan instrumen krusial yang menuntut kompetensi konselor dalam mengenali bias budaya dan gender, guna mewujudkan lingkungan pendidikan yang adil dan mendukung aktualisasi diri seluruh siswa secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Culture is a vital entity passed down through generations. In the context of Indonesian education, the tradition of shaking hands and greetings holds a high urgency as a manifestation of noble character. This research is motivated by the need to strengthen character education in schools to address the decline in ethics and students' respect for educators. The main focus of this study is to analyze the implications of preserving the culture of shaking hands and greetings when meeting teachers on the formation of students' polite character. The research method applies a systematic literature study by reviewing various relevant journals over the past five years. The findings show that greetings are not merely verbal greetings, but contain a prayer for safety and a deep value of tolerance. The habit of shaking hands and greetings has consistently been proven to be able to shape polite behavior, improve the ethics of verbal and non-verbal communication, and strengthen emotional bonds and Islamic brotherhood between teachers and students. The main conclusion emphasizes that this cultural integration is very effective as an instrument for forming polite character, so it is worth preserving not only in the academic environment, but also implemented widely in students' social interactions in society. ABSTRAK Budaya merupakan entitas vital yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun, di mana dalam konteks pendidikan di Indonesia, tradisi salim dan mengucapkan salam memiliki urgensi tinggi sebagai manifestasi karakter luhur. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perlunya penguatan pendidikan karakter di sekolah guna menanggulangi penurunan etika dan rasa hormat siswa terhadap pendidik. Fokus utama kajian ini adalah menganalisis implikasi pelestarian budaya salim dan salam saat bertemu guru terhadap pembentukan karakter kesantunan siswa. Metode penelitian menerapkan studi literatur sistematik dengan menelaah berbagai jurnal relevan dalam rentang waktu lima tahun terakhir. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa salam tidak sekadar sapaan verbal, melainkan mengandung muatan doa keselamatan dan nilai toleransi yang mendalam. Pembiasaan salim dan salam secara konsisten terbukti mampu membentuk perilaku sopan santun, meningkatkan etika komunikasi verbal maupun non-verbal, serta mempererat hubungan emosional dan ukhuwah Islamiyah antara guru dan peserta didik. Simpulan utama menegaskan bahwa integrasi budaya ini sangat efektif sebagai instrumen pembentukan karakter yang santun, sehingga patut dilestarikan tidak hanya dalam lingkungan akademik, tetapi juga diimplementasikan secara luas dalam interaksi sosial siswa di masyarakat.

Abstract

Multicultural school environments require guidance and counseling services that are responsive to cultural diversity and students’ emotional dynamics. Sekolah Indonesia Jeddah (SIJ), as an Indonesian school abroad, accommodates junior high school students from diverse cultural backgrounds, which may contribute to emotional regulation challenges. This study aims to explore the role of multicultural counseling based on art therapy in supporting changes in students’ emotional regulation at Sekolah Indonesia Jeddah. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with students, observations of counseling sessions, documentation of art therapy artifacts, and supporting interviews with guidance counselors and homeroom teachers. The research was conducted through three stages: pre-intervention (needs assessment), intervention in the form of multicultural counseling using art therapy, and post-intervention. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of change in emotional regulation. The findings indicate improvements in emotional awareness, a shift from reactive to reflective emotional responses, the development of more adaptive emotional regulation strategies, more constructive management of social conflicts, and more positive interpretations of multicultural experiences. These findings suggest that integrating art therapy into multicultural counseling serves as an effective expressive and reflective medium for enhancing students’ emotional regulation. This study provides practical implications for the development of inclusive and culturally sensitive guidance and counseling services in multicultural school settings. ABSTRAK Lingkungan sekolah multibudaya menuntut layanan bimbingan dan konseling yang mampu merespons keberagaman latar budaya dan dinamika emosi siswa secara adaptif. Sekolah Indonesia Jeddah (SIJ) sebagai sekolah Indonesia di luar negeri memiliki karakteristik siswa SMP yang heterogen, sehingga berpotensi memunculkan permasalahan regulasi emosi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaknai peran konseling multibudaya berbasis art therapy dalam mendukung perubahan regulasi emosi siswa SMP di Sekolah Indonesia Jeddah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan siswa, observasi proses konseling, dokumentasi artefak art therapy, serta wawancara pendukung dengan guru bimbingan dan konseling dan wali kelas. Penelitian dilaksanakan melalui tahapan pra-intervensi (asesmen kebutuhan), intervensi berupa konseling multibudaya berbasis art therapy, dan pasca-intervensi. Analisis data dilakukan secara tematik untuk mengidentifikasi pola perubahan regulasi emosi siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran emosi, pergeseran respons emosi dari reaktif ke reflektif, berkembangnya strategi regulasi emosi yang lebih adaptif, pengelolaan konflik sosial yang lebih konstruktif, serta pemaknaan yang lebih positif terhadap pengalaman multibudaya. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa integrasi art therapy dalam konseling multibudaya berfungsi sebagai media ekspresif dan reflektif yang efektif dalam mendukung regulasi emosi siswa. Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi praktis bagi pengembangan layanan bimbingan dan konseling yang inklusif dan sensitif budaya di lingkungan sekolah multikultural.
