Abstract

Dietary behavior is essential to diabetes self-management in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Understanding factors influencing diabetes self-management will help in designing appropriate intervention. The study aims to determine the effect of psychosocial on dietary behavior. This study was an analytical observational with a cross-sectional design. The sample size was 138 respondents recruited with multistage random sampling. Psychosocial factors were identified using; 1) Spoken Knowledge in Low Literacy patients with Diabetes Scale, 2) The Coping Scale, 3) Diabetes Distress Scale, 4) Hensarling Diabetes Family Support Scale, 5) Perceived nurse support questionnaire, while dietery behaviour was measured by Self-Management Dietary Behaviors Questionnaire. Data analysis used multiple linear regression. Among five psychosocial factors only two factors influenced dietary behaviour, such as; distress and perceived family support (p=0.004; p=0.001 < α=0.05). Meanwhile, knowledge, coping, and perceived nurse support did not affect diabetes diet (p=0.133; p=0.527; p=0.535 > α=0.05) with R2 = 0.275 (F=11.148; p=0.001 <α=0.05). Distress and perceived family support are two psychosocial factors that can affect dietary behavior. Preventing the occurrence of distress and increasing family support are important to improve dietary behavior adherence in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Controlled hypertension is a health problem that is closely related to mortality. The prevalence of this disease increases significantly every year throughout the world. Failure in self-awareness results in decreased self-control and decreased self-efficacy, resulting in patients not having regular control and not regularly taking hypertension medication. This study aims to increase the knowledge of female cadres about controlled hypertension. Using pre-test and post-test results of elderly cadres in blood pressure measurement training for hypertensive patients with the T-Test. Inclusion criteria of elderly cadres who have a blood pressure measurement training certificate at the UPTD Tegalampel Public Health Center. The 20 elderly cadres who took part in blood pressure measurement training with using T-Test to see the effect of training for elderly cadres toward blood pressure measurement level of knowledge. Based on the results of the T-Test, there was no significant improvement after health education regarding the prevention and treatment of hypertension (p=0.115). Given to the level of knowledge of elderly cadres regarding blood pressure measurement training. This is caused by increased self-awareness, self-control, and self-efficacy. Efforts to increase the level of knowledge of elderly cadres about controlled hypertension can increase self-awareness by forming a healthy heart group (the hypertension group is supervised regularly and intensively by officers and cadres) by forming a WA group, training elderly cadres with blood pressure measurement training and therapy counseling traditional (guava leaves, garlic, cat's whiskers leaves, ginger, bay leaves, noni, soursop leaves, soak feet in warm water)to increase awareness of controlled hypertension patients in improving healthy lifestyles, namely regular health checks, taking medication regularly.

Abstract

Agriculture is the main livelihood for the majority of the population in Indonesia. One is becoming a vegetable farmer in the Tengger tribe community in the highlands of the Bromo mountains, Probolinggo. In the process, this activity carries the risk of causing injury to farmers, such as sharp wounds and exposure to solar radiation. The side effects of this work, if carried out without proper preparation, can cause disease and affect farmers' health. So special precautions are needed to reduce this risk. One activity that can be carried out is to increase awareness of using personal protective equipment to minimize the risk of injury and radiation exposure. This activity was carried out for one day and was packaged as health education carried out in groups by vegetable farmers and accompanied by facilitators. The hope is that this activity can increase farmers' self-awareness in using personal protective equipment when working on mountain slopes to be safer and avoid bad risks due to work. Abstract

Introduction:  This study aims to analyze the effect of psychosocial factors on hemodialysis program adherence. Methods: The study was cross-sectional, with a sample size of 90 respondents, obtained through simple random sampling. The study’s dependent variable was hemodialysis program adherence and the independent variables were knowledge, motivation, coping, depression, perceived family support and health worker support. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results: Most respondents adhered to the hemodialysis program (90%). The level of knowledge, motivation, coping, family support, and health worker support was in the good category (93.3%; 100%; 91.1%; 90%; 88.9%, respectively), and did not experience depression (90%). The independent variables (knowledge, motivation, coping, family support, health worker support) simultaneously significantly affected the dependent variable, namely adherence to the hemodialysis program by 94.5% (R2 = 0.945; F = 236.613; p = 0.001). Partially, the factors of knowledge, motivation, coping, family support, health workers support, and depression also had a significant effect on hemodialysis program adherence (t = 2.234, t = 5.344, t = 3.473, t = -4.190, t = 6.457, t = 4.887, t = 4.190, respectively; p = 0.001). Conclusions: The study results showed that psychosocial factors (knowledge, motivation, coping, family support, health worker support, and depression) simultaneously or partially influenced the adherence of CKD patients to undergo a hemodialysis program, with the most dominant factor affecting adherence to hemodialysis as perceived family support.  Keywords: Adherence, Hemodialysis, Psychosocial

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates the role of self-efficacy in antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence among HIV patients at RSUD Blambangan Banyuwangi using a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected from 36 purposively sampled HIV patients through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis. Thematic analysis was conducted through data reduction, coding, categorization, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured via triangulation, member checks, and prolonged engagement. Findings reveal that higher self-efficacy enhances ART adherence by fostering consistent medication routines, resilience, and proactive communication with healthcare providers. Emotional stability, family and peer support, and medical staff guidance were identified as key factors influencing self-efficacy. The study highlights the need to integrate psychological support and self-efficacy enhancement programs into HIV care services to improve treatment adherence.

Abstract

Foot care behavior is essential to prevent the risk of diabetic foot ulcers among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The sociodemographic predisposing factors had determined mainly behavior. The study aimed to analyze sociodemographic factors' effect on foot care behavior in people with T2DM. This study was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. The sample size was 130 respondents, with multistage random sampling. The instruments used were a questionnaire. The results showed that most of the respondents were 56-65 years (45.38%), women (62.31%), married (86.15%), basic education (46.15%) and income level were less than the district minimum wage (56.92%), Madurese (54.62%), nuclear family type (46.15%), and had foot care behavior in the good category (71.54%). Income level was the sociodemographic factor significantly affecting foot care behavior (p=0.019). Respondents with low-income levels (less than regency minimum wage) showed poor foot care behavior. At the same time, other sociodemographic factors, such as age, gender, marital status, education level, ethnicity, and family type, did not affect foot care behavior (p-value > α = 0.05). The higher the income level, the better the foot care behavior. Providing diabetes education to increase awareness of diabetic patients about foot care is essential to paying attention to sociodemographic conditions, especially income levels. Good foot care behavior can reduce the risk of diabetic foot ulcers, minimize morbidity, and improve the quality of life of people with T2DM.
