Abstract

This research is a type of research and development (R&D) using the 4D model: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The goal of this research and development is to find out the content validity, practitioners’ responses, and the effectiveness of using an interactive e-module with a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach in physics learning to improve students’ critical thinking skills. The content validity of the e-module was evaluated by experts and tested using Aiken’s V. Its practicality was evaluated by 10 physics teachers from South Sulawesi. The e-module was tested on 19 students in class XII B at MAN Kabupaten Kepulauan Selayar. The instruments used in this study included a validation sheet for the e-module, a validation sheet for the practitioners’ response questionnaire, and a critical thinking test validation sheet. Each instrument was validated by experts. The practitioners’ questionnaire and the critical thinking test were also used in the study. The results showed that the PBL-based interactive e-module in physics learning was valid according to the experts, highly practical according to the practitioners’ responses, and effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills, with an N-gain percentage of 57,71%. Based on the results, the developed e-module is considered valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Clean fresh water is one of the basic needs that is difficult to obtain by the Suli-suli community, so the local community collects rainwater or buys it to get fresh water. . The dominant service location is close to the coast and Karst mountain so that the local community is increasingly difficult to obtain fresh water. So to help the Suli-suli community obtain fresh water, a groundwater search service was carried out. The service provider conducted measurements using a geoelectric resistivity tool with the Wenner-Schlumberger method approach with a span of 147 m per measurement path. The results obtained that the presence of groundwater was obtained at a depth of 2-15 meters. However, there are several points where there is also brackish water, this is because the service location is close to the coast so that seawater intrusion occurs which forms brackish water, but after a depth of 5 meters down the brackish water is no longer visible. From the results of this service, it is hoped that it will be a reference for the community in finding and making freshwater wells, in order to meet the need for clean water.

Abstract

Landslides are a type of natural disaster that often occurs in areas with hilly and mountainous topography with high rainfall. Tamalalang Timur Hamlet, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi is a geomorphologically located area in a hilly area with high rainfall, so it has a significant potential for landslides. This community service activity aims to analyze the structure of the soil layers in Tamalalang Timur Hamlet using the Wenner-Schlumberger configuration geoelectric resistivity method and provide socialization to the community about the categories of landslide-prone areas. Measurements were carried out in areas that represent the topographic and geological conditions that are the target of the service. The results of resistivity data inversion indicate that the soil layers in the area are dominated by water-saturated clay with a low resistivity value of 1–12 Ωm, followed by sandy clay soil layers (12.7–50 Ωm) and bedrock (>100 Ωm). From the interpretation, it provides a strong indication of the existence of a tiered rock layer system, with the potential for aquifers located in the middle layer with moderate to low resistivity, while the base layer is made of hard, impermeable rock. On the one hand, the public needs easy-to-understand information about the early signs of landslides. Some people are more familiar with the dangers of flooding than local landslides or land subsidence. Therefore, this activity provides practical benefits in the form of increased disaster literacy.

Abstract

Research has been carried out which aims to analyze and gain knowledge about climate change that is happening in Maros Regency using descriptive, spatial and explanatory statistical methods. The data used is daily climatic data for Maros Regency which is processed using Ecxel, RCLIMDEX and ArcGIS 10.4 software which produces data in the form of graphics and spatial images. In addition, global factors are used as supporting data to determine its relationship with the climate of Maros Regency, to see whether climate change is occurring or only being influenced by global factors such as monsoons and El Nino/La Nina. The pattern of rainfall in Maros Regency is monsoonal, there has been no change in climate patterns for 30 years and there has been a decreasing rate of rainfall, but there has been an increase in the amount of rainfall at the peak of the rainy season and a decrease in rainfall at the peak of the dry season every tenth of the year and the extreme index has increased. The air temperature in Maros district is also experiencing an increasing trend, although it is more significant at the minimum temperature.
