Abstract

This research embarks on a comprehensive exploration of the intricate relationship between English language competency, encompassing both first language (L1) and second language (L2) skills, and cognitive language development within the realm of early childhood education. Employing a blended research methodology that combines descriptive qualitative research with an extensive literature review, this study unveils the profound impact of language proficiency on cognitive growth among young learners. The findings reveal a rich tapestry of language proficiency levels among early childhood education students, reflecting diverse linguistic backgrounds and exposure to L2, notably English. Proficiency in multiple languages emerges as a catalyst for cognitive dexterity, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and linguistic cognition. Educators' pivotal role in nurturing language competency and cognitive development is underscored, with positive teacher-student relationships and interactive teaching methods playing a central role. The identification of best practices and strategies for fostering English language competency within early childhood education settings offers practical guidance for educators, curriculum designers, policymakers, and parents, guiding their actions and decisions in the field.

Abstract

This research embarks on a profound exploration into the intricate interplay between English language proficiency, with a specific emphasis on listening skills, and the emotional social development of young children within the realm of early childhood education. Employing a blend of descriptive qualitative research and an extensive literature review, this study unveils the profound impact of language competence on the emotional expression and social interactions of early learners. The findings unearth a spectrum of language proficiency levels among early childhood education students, influenced by factors such as extracurricular exposure to English and pedagogical approaches. Remarkably, students endowed with higher listening skill competence manifest increased self-assuredness in emotional expression and active participation in social interactions. Conversely, those with more restricted linguistic abilities encounter hurdles in articulating emotions and navigating social integration. The pivotal role of educators emerges as a central theme, where positive teacher-student relationships and inclusive classroom environments foster language development and emotional maturation. Moreover, this study delineates best practices and strategies, including interactive learning activities and family engagement, as potent tools for augmenting language proficiency within early childhood education settings. These profound insights accentuate the salience of linguistic development as an indomitable cornerstone of holistic child advancement and bear far-reaching implications for educators, policymakers, parents, and scholars alike, all with a shared aspiration of nurturing linguistic and emotional sagacity among the burgeoning minds of young learners

Abstract

Ketika Cinta Bertasbih is a film based on the phenomenal novel written by Habiburrahman El-Shirazy. Ketika Cinta Bertasbih itself tells the story of a young Indonesian named Khoirul Azzam, who is a student who is criticizing education in Egypt. This film tells the struggle of an Azzam in completing his studies as well as being the backbone for his family. Ketika Cinta Bertasbih itself does not only focus on Azzam's struggles but also tells his love story which must be hindered by social and economic status. The film Ketika Cinta Bertasbih is a film with an Islamic nuance, so there are many moral messages that can be learned. The author will examine the film Ketika Cinta Bertasbih by using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The author uses primary and secondary data, where primary data is taken from the analysis of films which watched repeatedly, while secondary data is taken via the internet. The author watches the film Ketika Cinta Bertasbih then pays attention to the movements and conversations of the players, then the data is analyzed so that it can be presented in this paper.

Abstract

5 cm is a novel written by a novelist named Donny Dhirgantoro, this novel tells about the friendship life of five friends who teach a lot about sincerity, care, and sincerity. Not a day without a meeting, and not having other friends by their side until the feeling of saturation approaches. Finally, they agreed to cut off their friendship for 3 months, to find their other lives and pursue a dream that had been delayed. With an agenda, if they meet again later they will carry out a love adventure mission to show the identity of the friendship they are looking for. They face various big obstacles on their mission journey, but they believe this is what strengthens their bond even more. The purpose of the research on the 5 cm novel is to provide an overview of the values of pure friendship contained in their story. In the analysis, the researcher uses qualitative methods, the data in the study is in the form of documents, namely 5 cm novels. The conclusion is that the story of five friends who are looking for their identity without preempting their solidarity, friendship, and dreams will continue to be on their agenda for the rest of their lives

Abstract

This study delves into the intricate interplay of social, religious, and academic facets within the Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta), specifically focusing on Semester 1 cadets enrolled in the international programme. The research centres on the competencies of 200 randomly selected cadets, examining their proficiency in computer literacy while scrutinizing the influence of social and religious perspectives on their pursuit of an international maritime education. This investigation aligns with the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) framework, emphasising the paramount importance of English communication skills for future global officers. Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta), renowned for producing a substantial number of qualified seamen, deck officers, and engine officers, offers applied bachelor's degrees in Nautical, Technical, and Port and Shipping Management majors. Cadets, hailing from diverse regions across Indonesia, incorporate Bahasa Indonesia and their traditional languages into their daily lives. However, the demand for international and global proficiency necessitates fluency in English communication. The research methodology adopts a qualitative approach with a focus on descriptive analysis. By investigating the social and motivational empowerment aspects, the study aims to uncover the intricate dynamics that influence the cadets' journey. Attention is given to the prayers and expectations of parents, reflecting on the cadets' plans and aspirations to become exceptional seafarers. The qualitative lens employed in this study allows for a nuanced understanding of the cadets' experiences, exploring the multifaceted dimensions of their educational journey. This research not only contributes to the understanding of computer literacy among maritime cadets but also sheds light on the socio-religious context that shapes their educational pursuits. The findings are anticipated to inform educational policies, curriculum development, and support systems tailored to the unique needs of maritime cadets in an international setting.

Abstract

This academic research delves into the critical examination of the computer literacy and socioreligious perspectives of first-year cadets enrolled in the International Maritime Education programme at Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta). The study focuses on 200 randomly selected cadets who represent a diverse range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds within Indonesia. As future global officers, these cadets are integral to the maritime sector's international landscape and are expected to communicate fluently in English, adhering to the standards set by the International Maritime Organization's International Maritime Education and Training (IMO-STCW) guidelines. The research is centred on the first semester cadets, freshly graduated from senior high school, enrolled in three majors: Nautical, Technical, and Port and Shipping Management. The focal point is the introductory study of computer science and maritime technology tailored for the Nautical and Technical majors. Moreover, the research incorporates an examination of the socioreligious dimensions influencing the cadets' perspectives on their educational journey. Given that the cadets hail from diverse regions of Indonesia, they bring with them a rich tapestry of linguistic and cultural practices, utilising both Bahasa Indonesia and their traditional languages in their daily lives. The study aims to understand how these socioreligious factors intertwine with their academic pursuits and adherence to international standards. In conclusion, this research contributes to the broader discourse on maritime education by providing insights into the intersection of computer literacy, socioreligious perspectives, and international competencies among first-year cadets. The findings are expected to inform educational strategies and policies to better prepare cadets for the evolving demands of the global maritime industry.

Abstract

This qualitative study investigates the perspectives of 240 Semester 3 cadets at the Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta) regarding An Operational Approach to Maritime Cyber Resilience. Over three semesters, the research scrutinizes cadets' academic self-checked intelligence, perceived professional competences, motivations, and the interplay between language development and preparedness for global roles. The demographic diversity of the cadet sample, representing majors in Nautical, Technical, and Port and Shipping Management, ensures a comprehensive exploration of maritime education. The findings reveal a positive evolution in cadets' understanding of maritime cyber resilience, with a notable increase in academic self-checked intelligence. The curriculum's effectiveness in cultivating a nuanced comprehension of cyber threats is underscored by the enhanced professional competences perceived by cadets, indicating preparedness for the practical challenges in the maritime industry. Motivations and engagement exhibit a positive trajectory, from initial challenges to sustained interest, indicating the subject's growing relevance over time. The interconnected development of English language proficiency and subject mastery emphasizes the need for targeted language support within maritime education. The positive correlation between improved language fluency and a deeper understanding of maritime cyber resilience suggests the symbiotic relationship between linguistic and technical competence. The study's implications extend beyond STIP Jakarta, offering insights for refining maritime education globally. Recommendations encompass dynamic pedagogical approaches, continual curriculum evaluation, industry collaboration, and language enhancement initiatives. By embracing these recommendations, maritime education programmes can foster a resilient cadre of professionals adept at navigating the complexities of the modern maritime industry.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the meaning of failure from a book entitled "Read this book when you fail: pretending to be successful is tiring" by K.L Rahayu. This book explains how to take failure and turn it into success. This book also provides knowledge of who we are, and various ways to know ourselves to achieve true success. This study uses a qualitative method, namely by deciding conclusions by outputting data and also focusing more on the morals and messages of this book. The results presented in this study, if you feel a failure, then immediately collect your spirit and throw away negative thoughts to quickly return to repairing things that have fallen apart. Failure should be considered a friend, so it will change bad things for the better and more colorful. A person's success is the product of a failure, therefore failure should never be considered the end of everything, instead, it becomes a big opportunity in the next step.

Abstract

Literature has a great interest in various circles. Likewise with novels that have various useful values. Sang Pemimpi novel by Andrea Hirata is the second book in the Laskar Pelangi novel tetralogy. Novels are in great demand in various circles, this is evidenced by the novel Sang Pemimpi which was able to win a Mega Best Seller. In the novel, Sang Pemimpi tells the story of three young men, namely Ikal, Arai, and Jimbrong. This novel also tells about friendship and the many values it contains. The study in this paper aims to be able to analyze, identify and describe systematically the values contained in the novel Sang Pemimpi. Therefore, this research will review from various value perspectives. The research method uses a descriptive-qualitative method or also known as the exposure method, which is a method to produce information about the message or values contained in the novel which will be carried out with analytical techniques. The data collection technique used is the reading and note-taking technique. The results of the study will explain or provide an overview of the values of life contained in the novel Sang Pemimpi by Andrea Hirata.

Abstract

This research delves into the perspectives of 240 Semester 3 cadets at the Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta) regarding the establishment of a standardized maritime language for effective communication at sea. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study integrates document analysis and self-administered surveys to unravel the nuanced dynamics of linguistic proficiency in the maritime context. The findings reveal a perceived gap between academic training and practical linguistic challenges, prompting recommendations for the integration of simulated scenarios and immersive training methods into the curriculum. Motivation emerges as a critical influencer of linguistic competences, necessitating a paradigm shift in linguistic training methodologies that connect linguistic development to the broader narrative of professional identity. Anticipation of communication challenges during internships highlights the immediate need for industry-responsive linguistic training. Collaborative efforts between educational institutions and industry stakeholders, along with the incorporation of real-world examples, are recommended to enhance the preparedness of cadets for diverse communication scenarios in their professional roles. This study contributes nuanced insights to the discourse on maritime education, emphasizing the need for a dynamic and experiential approach to linguistic training that aligns with the evolving demands of the maritime industry. The identified themes and recommendations provide a roadmap for curriculum enhancement and pedagogical refinement, ensuring that maritime education remains responsive and effective in preparing cadets for the complexities of real-world communication at sea.
