Abstract

The novel “ Saturday with Bapak” by Aditya Mulya. This book tells about the life journey of a family without a father figure. The father character in this book is told to die of cancer. The back-and-forth plot of this novel makes this novel even more interesting to read. Readers seem to be able to feel the story. Adhitya Mulya's success as a writer for a series of very touching messages about family was also followed and supported by the success of the film " Saturday Together " which was adapted from the novel. In addition, in this novel or film, it seems that there are many positive things that can be applied to the family who reads it. The study in this paper aims to analyze the life experienced by Satya and Cakra as the son of their father after the death of their father. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis. The source of research data comes from the novel and also the film " Saturday with Bapak ".

Abstract

No Longer Human novel is a literature study that tells the life journey of a young man who lives in the real world. This story will be related to today's era, reflecting social criticism with the surrounding influences that make the most hypocritical living beings and easily lead to bad things. This novel, which tells the story of a young man's crisis, also has a psychological influence on the author in the process of making it. The process analysis, No Longer Human novel uses a qualitative descriptive method by collecting the data and processing it by reading the story thoroughly and analyzing the qualitative narrative. The results of the study represent the story of Oba Yozo's theatrical story and his regrets as well as the figure of speech used in Osamu Dazai's art, including (1) Idiomatic (2) Alliteration (3) Onomatopoeia (4) Personification (5) Simile (6) Metaphor (7) Hyperbole. Based on the analysis, it is found that the expression to beautify a literature study used by the author, the enrichment and disposition of the language used and the meaning of the story about fear and the harshness of the world make this Japanese novel in demand by connoisseurs of psychology or sociology genre novels.

Abstract

Bilal: A New Breed of Hero is the first feature-length animated film from the United Arab Emirates and a Barajoun Entertainment film to win the award for Best Inspiring Movie in the Animation category. Bilal bin Rabbah himself was one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad. Even so, this film was made by not highlighting Islamic studies in depth so that it can be accepted by various groups, not only Muslims. This film tells the story of Bilal's struggle from childhood to old age to be able to free himself and other people from Umayyah slavery. Bilal struggles for freedom, truth and justice which is impossible for him because he has been a slave all his life without being able to put up a fight. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the main character in the film Bilal: A New Breed Of Hero, namely Bilal bin Rabbah who fights for human independence from other human possessions in the path of truth, namely the teachings of Islam, and fights for the rights that should be owned by every human being. man. By using descriptive qualitative research methods, the existing data were collected by watching and recording the main points of the film Bilal: A New Breed of Hero. The results of this study indicate that the characteristics possessed by Bilal Bin Rabbah are: (1)Courageous (2)Never give up (3)Have a high fighting spirit (4)Firm stance (5)Patience (6)Forgiving (7)Ready to face risk (8)Loves to Help (9)Hard Worker (10)Cares for the Surroundings.

Abstract

The novel entitled “Ayah Mengapa Aku Berbeda?” is a novel that tells the story of Angel's life from childhood as a child with special needs. Angel's mother died while giving birth to Angel. His father patiently took care of Angel who was deaf since birth, sincerely made Angel like a normal child in general so that Angel would not feel discouraged. Her father's struggle so that Angel can attend public schools and get an education like children, in general, is not easy, because Angel has been rejected from several schools because Angel is deaf. This situation awakens Angel to always be grateful to God for everything he gets to form Angel into a person who is always grateful and does not give up easily. Novel “Ayah Mengapa Aku Berbeda?” Agnes Davonar's work has been successfully made into a film to educate every film audience to always be grateful for everything they have. This study uses qualitative methods, methods used to investigate, find, describe, and explain the quality or advantages of social influences that cannot be explained by a quantitative approach. This research is expected to have a positive impact on everyone who reads it and can implement it in life.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to observe family problems, failures, and selfishness in the film “Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini” by Marchella FP. This film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name and is released in theaters on January 9, 2020. This research was conducted using a qualitative method and contains several values, especially moral values. This study resulted in three findings. First, family is the most important supporter in life. Second, failure is something that cannot be separated from the journey of life that we go through, even failure can be a life lesson so that we can be better in the future. Third, selfishness is a trait that we should not have because this trait can cause negative impacts on ourselves and those around us. This film tells about a family who seems happy but has many secrets. The main character in this film is named " Awan ". After experiencing her first failure, Awan gets acquainted with a man named "Kale". A man who gives new life experiences, about breaking, getting up, falling, growing, missing, and all the fears of humans in general that leads her to know the secrets that occur in her family.

Abstract

The main problem in this research is to analyze an educational value in the film "Orang Kaya Baru" which contains the values ​​of life in society. In this film, it depicts a family who has a simple life but does not eliminate the sense of togetherness, they are taught to always be grateful and stay happy in that simplicity, besides that there is a moral message that the author wants to convey about a simple family life and then becoming rich. Objective from study this is known dependency moral messages as well as calculation delivered value in the film This study concludes that the educational values contained in the film "Orang Kaya Baru" are a) social values, namely parents who give advice to their children, please help, until the sense of kinship in the film is lost, b) cultural values, namely when eating, give envelopes. At weddings and eating together with family, c) religious values, namely gratitude, always being patient and not forgetting to always give charity, d) moral values, namely always apologizing, being indifferent, being responsible as a family head, being honest and independent, and creating creative ideas in order to have achievements.

Abstract

This research delves into the intricate realm of maritime education, focusing on the academic and professional preparedness of Semester 3 cadets at the Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta). Anchored in a qualitative descriptive approach, the study synthesizes document analysis and cadet surveys to unravel the multifaceted dynamics shaping the educational landscape. The document analysis reveals a curriculum at STIP Jakarta that aligns commendably with international standards, supported by comprehensive lecturer training programmes. However, the nuanced cadet perspectives spotlight a need for refined emphasis on the practical application of English proficiency in real-world maritime scenarios. Cadet self-assessment underscores both confidence in academic intelligence and an identified need for additional language support, calling for targeted interventions. Exploring professional competences uncovers a disparity between technical proficiency and English Maritime communication, highlighting the importance of a holistic approach to bridge this gap. Cadet motivations vary from a genuine passion for maritime activities to the allure of lucrative career prospects and international recognition. Recognizing this diversity urges the need for personalised career guidance and mentorship programmes. The research also sheds light on English Maritime and Literacy proficiency, differentiating between basic skills and the ability to handle complex communication scenarios. Recommendations include integrating advanced language modules and tailored language support initiatives within the curriculum, ensuring a seamless development of linguistic skills alongside technical competences. In conclusion, this research offers a comprehensive understanding of maritime education at STIP Jakarta, unveiling challenges and opportunities that resonate globally. The synthesis of findings and recommendations forms a compass for refining pedagogical approaches, fostering linguistic and technical adeptness in future maritime professionals. This voyage towards enhancement is not merely a localized pursuit but a contribution to the broader discourse on cultivating global competence in maritime education.

While basics like office software and digital navigation are strong, disparities in data analysis proficiency call for targeted interventions. The implications highlight the necessity for a stratified curriculum, ensuring a comprehensive skill set in line with modern maritime demands. Cadets overwhelmingly endorse technology's role in enhancing education, signalling a paradigm shift. Positive attitudes towards online resources, digital simulations, and e-learning platforms advocate for an institutional embrace of cutting-edge tools. Recommendations focus on faculty development and increased technology integration, promising an enriched pedagogical landscape. The exploration of sociocultural influences uncovers a delicate balance between tradition and the necessity of English proficiency. Nuanced strategies are essential to integrate diverse cultural backgrounds. Recommendations call for cultural awareness initiatives and language support programs, aligning the institution with the global orientation of maritime education. In qualitative insights, cadets express a collective desire for a more intentional curriculum, particularly in incorporating cultural perspectives. Abstract

This study delves into the intricacies of the Maritime Education and Training (MET) program at the Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta), focusing on Semester 3 cadets. Adopting a qualitative and descriptive research approach, the research aims to elucidate the perspectives of 240 cadets through the lens of academic self-checked intelligence, professional competences, motivations, and their interconnections. The findings reveal diverse self-checked intelligence profiles across Nautical, Technical, and Port and Shipping Management majors, necessitating a nuanced curriculum tailored to their distinct strengths. English communication emerges as a pivotal professional competence, urging a strategic enhancement of language instruction to equip cadets for effective communication in the global maritime community. Motivations driving cadet dedication encompass familial legacies, a love for the sea, and the pursuit of international exposure. Recognising and nurturing these intrinsic motivators emerges as a crucial element for sustaining cadet engagement. The positive correlation between self-checked intelligence and professional competences underscores the importance of tailored support mechanisms, prompting recommendations for mentorship programs and supplementary resources. Implications for STIP Jakarta include the need for continuous quality improvement through periodic curriculum reviews, fostering a holistic approach that combines technical proficiency with soft skills. The research contributes to the discourse on maritime education, offering a roadmap for institutions to navigate industry dynamics and diverse cadet needs. The findings, discussions, and recommendations collectively enrich the understanding of Semester 3 cadet perspectives, offering actionable insights for educators, administrators, and policymakers to refine and elevate maritime education at STIP Jakarta.

Abstract

This research delves into the intricate dynamics of emotional intelligence among Semester 3 cadets at the esteemed Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta). As the maritime industry places increasing emphasis on holistic competence, this study investigates the intersection of emotional intelligence, academic self-assessment, professional competences, and motivations. Over a span of three semesters, approximately 18 months, 240 cadets were engaged in a qualitative exploration, providing insights into their perspectives on emotional intelligence within the unique context of maritime education. The findings reveal a compelling correlation between emotional intelligence and academic self-checks, indicating that cadets with higher emotional intelligence levels exhibit proactive approaches to academic responsibilities. Moreover, emotional intelligence emerges as a significant influencer of professional competences, with high levels associated with effective decision-making and adaptive leadership. Intrinsic motivations play a pivotal role in shaping emotional intelligence, aligning cadets' passion with career aspirations and fostering genuine dedication to the maritime industry. The implications of this research are far-reaching. The recognition of emotional intelligence as a critical factor in academic success suggests the need for tailored interventions within the maritime education curriculum. Integrating modules focused on emotional intelligence development can equip cadets with essential skills for academic resilience and effective professional navigation. Furthermore, the study recommends mentorship programs, intrinsic motivation enhancement strategies, and collaborative initiatives between educational institutions and industry stakeholders to foster a workforce adept at emotional intelligence and ready for the challenges of maritime management. While the research contributes valuable insights to the discourse on emotional intelligence in maritime education, it also highlights the need for continued exploration. Future research could broaden the scope to include diverse cadet populations and employ additional research methods to validate and extend the current findings. This study stands as a foundational step towards understanding and enhancing emotional intelligence among maritime professionals, positioning them as not only technically proficient but also resilient and adaptive leaders in the global maritime arena.
