Abstract

Introduction: The incidence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) in Indonesia remains high and can lead to both macrovascular and microvascular complications, making research on the use of T2DM medications and their complications an important area of study. This study examines the use of oral antidiabetic drugs in T2DM patients with macrovascular and microvascular complications at Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia. Methods: A descriptive, retrospective study was conducted using total sampling of medical records with the inclusion criteria of this study being 162 patients who were treated in the Internal Medicine Outpatient at Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia, for the period of July–September 2023 with the diagnosis code ICD-10 E11 and were treated with oral antidiabetic drugs. The exclusion criteria of this study were patients who are using insulin as their primary therapy. Results: Out of 162 patients, the demographic distribution showed that most patients were female (51.23%), with the highest age group being 55-64 years (41.35%). Body Mass Index (BMI) was mostly in the 18.5-22.9 and 23-24.9 ranges (33.95%), and the majority had been living with DM for 6-10 years (44.44%). Monotherapy, primarily metformin, was commonly used across all microvascular (retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy) and macrovascular (stroke, coronary heart disease (CHD), peripheral artery disease (PAD)) complications. The most frequently used combination therapy was metformin + glimepiride. Conclusion: The use of metformin as monotherapy and the combination of metformin and glimepiride were the most commonly used treatments for T2DM patients with complications.

Abstract

This research examines the legal framework and implementation of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Indonesia within the context of national development. The primary issue addressed is the distinction between direct and indirect investment and the legal requirements for foreign entities operating within the Republic of Indonesia. Using a normative judicial approach with descriptive analysis, the study gathers data from primary legal sources, including the 1945 Constitution, Law No. 25 of 2007, and Law No. 40 of 2007. The findings indicate that FDI must generally take the form of a Limited Liability Company (PT) under Indonesian law. Successful investment realization depends on legal certainty, bureaucratic efficiency, and a conducive business climate. The research concludes that while direct investment requires a physical presence and risk-bearing by the investor, indirect investment focuses on short-term capital gains through the capital market. The implication is that Indonesia must maintain stability, predictability, and fairness in its investment regulations to remain competitive in the global economy and the ASEAN Economic Community.

Abstract

Tax avoidance is a tax avoidance effort that is carried out legally for individual and corporate taxpayers without conflicting with existing tax regulations by exploiting the weaknesses (grey area) contained in the Law and Taxation Regulations in order to produce a lower tax amount. This study aims to examine the effect of profitability, tax incentives, and corporate social responsibility on tax avoidance. Profitability is a ratio that indicates a company’s ability to generate profits. Tax incentives are facilities in the form of reduced tax rates provided by the government. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a company’s commitment to participating in sustainable economic development to improve the quality of life and the environment in a beneficial way. The population in this study consists of companies in the basic materials sub sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2020 to 2024. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, resulting in a total sample of 14 companies. The data analysis method uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Smart PLS Version 4.0.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze institutional ownership, profitability, liquidity, and solvency on company value in insurance companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2019-2024. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a causal design and uses secondary data from financial reports officially published by the IDX (www.idx.co.id) with data processing assisted by SPSS version 25. Company value is measured using price book value (PBV), institutional ownership is described by the percentage of institutional share ownership, profitability is measured by return on assets (ROA), liquidity by the current ratio (CR), and solvency by the debt to equity ratio (DER). The results of the study indicate that institutional ownership and profitability do not have a significant effect on company value. However, liquidity and solvency have a significant effect on company value. In conclusion ,indicates that investors in the insurance sector consider the company's ability to maintain financial stability and capital structure more than ownership structure and profits in determining company value

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential in physics education, particularly in understanding abstract concepts like wave functions in quantum mechanics. However, traditional teaching methods often fail to foster these skills effectively. This study explores the use of an interactive e-module titled Quantum Physics: Wave Function to enhance critical thinking skills among students in a physics education program. A quasi-experimental design was employed with an experimental group using the e-module and a control group following conventional methods. Pretest and posttest results showed a significant improvement in critical thinking skills for the experimental group (average increase: 26.30) compared to the control group (average increase: 11.70). Statistical analysis confirmed the e-module's effectiveness (t = 2.95, p = 0.01). The e-module fostered active participation, problem-solving, and independent exploration, demonstrating its potential to improve critical thinking and engagement in complex physics topics. These findings highlight the value of integrating technology into physics education to enhance learning outcomes.

Abstract

The implementation of the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile (P5) projects requires learning resources that are easy to adopt, engaging, and supportive of authentic assessment; however, in practice there are still constraints related to teachers’ ICT literacy, software availability, and the scarcity of ready-to-replicate examples. This training addressed these issues through an integrated package—guidelines and templates for Flip PDF Professional, access to MATLAB/software, and an online mentoring forum—with the following objectives: to train teachers to design digital learning materials using Flip PDF integrated with MATLAB for P5 projects; to enhance teachers’ understanding of technology use in strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile; and to help teachers produce interactive, data-driven, problem-solving-oriented learning resources. The program involved 14 teachers and proceeded in five stages: preparation–agreement, needs identification, Technical Training I (Flip PDF), Technical Training II (MATLAB & P5 integration), and formative–summative evaluation. All participants produced P5 flipbook prototypes featuring multimedia, clear navigation, and reflection pages; most embedded charts/tables generated in MATLAB. Likert-scale questionnaire results indicated positive perceptions (mean 4.40; Cronbach’s α = 0.864), with strengths in facilitation & outputs (4.64), P5 relevance (4.57), sustainability (4.50), and Flip PDF ease of use (4.43). The area requiring further strengthening was MATLAB integration (3.86), which was followed up through technical clinics, dataset templates, and guidance on numeric locale settings. These findings confirm the effectiveness and replicability of this training model in P5 contexts.
