Abstract

The phenomenon of bullying is a serious problem for child development in Indonesia. Bullying cases in Indonesia are ranked fifth in Indonesia world in bullying incidents (Jayani, 2019). Violence against students at school is a topic of discussion mainstream in the media. The incidence of bullying is 10-60% of children who receive ridicule, ridicule, expulsion, kicking or pushing at least once a week. Cases of bullying in Children can occur anywhere, anytime and by anyone. This makes this case still high incidence rate (Komisi Perlindungan Anak Indonesia, 2020). If this bullying incident continues for a long time, it will have an impact on the victim of bullying, both physically, psychologically and socially. The bullying case at Ketabang Seruni Elementary School Surabaya is of particular concern to the school principal. During break time, students are often heard making fun of each other, and there are friends who are alone because they are ostracized. As a leading public school in the city of Surabaya, hopes that its students can be a good for other schools by implementing free bullying at schools. The solution offered to solve this problem is to provide education to students at Ketabang Seruni Elementary School Surabaya by providing an explanation first about the purpose of the activity, then giving a questionnaire to the students about various things related to the meaning of bullying, types of bullying, causes of bullying, characteristics of perpetrators and victims of bullying, bad impacts of bullying, prevention of bullying, efforts to handle bullying prevention. Education is provided by providing materials using powerpoint media, leaflets and posters which are pasted on the school walls as a means of reminder for the entire community at school, including students, teachers, employees and parents. The result of this activity is that there is an increase in students' understanding of bullying and good practices are obtained by changing the way students socialize to be better and more polite. Abstract

Laboratories play a strategic role in protecting public health by ensuring the quality and safety of drugs, food, and cosmetics. The Centre of National Quality Laboratory of Drugs and Food (CNQLDF), as the central laboratory of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (Indonesian FDA), continuously develops reliable, selective, sensitive, and accurate analytical methods (AM) for cosmetic testing in line with advancements in cosmetic formulation technology. However, both the Indonesian FDA and external cosmetic laboratories need more human resources and infrastructure, hindering the development of analytical method and the testing of cosmetic products. Strengthening these laboratories through stakeholder networks is essential. Indonesia actively participates in the ASEAN Cosmetic Testing Laboratories Committee (ACTLC) and the Indonesian Cosmetic Laboratory Network (ICLN). One of the main tasks of CNQLDF is to develop a new ASEAN Cosmetic Method (ACM) for 1,4-Dioxane contaminants in cosmetics. Currently, CNQLDF, along with the Indonesia National Standard Body (INSB), Ministries and External Laboratories, in which together became members of ICLN, harmonized the analytical method of 1,4-Dioxane at the national level, leading to the issuance of the Indonesian National Standard (INS). Both the INS and ACM have main purpose to standardize analytical methods across laboratories, ensure the safety and quality of cosmetic products and enhance national product competitiveness. This study examines method to strengthen pre-market cosmetic surveillance through harmonizing the analytical method of 1,4-Dioxane at the national and ASEAN regional levels, using a qualitative approach based on the Indonesian FDA's internal data and stakeholder information on 1,4-Dioxane testing capabilities.

Abstract

Critical thinking is an essential skill for students to develop. The objective of this research is to map students' thinking systems in critical thinking based on STEM project-based learning experiences. The method used is a mixed-method approach with an Embedded Experimental Model. The research subjects are undergraduate students in basic physics at the University of Jambi. Data collection is conducted through tests and interviews. The test instrument employs structured critical thinking questions based on the Halpern Critical Thinking Assessment (HCTA) indicators, while the interview instrument utilizes open-ended questions. Data analysis utilizes paired t-tests and coding to map students' thinking systems. The research results indicate an influence of STEM-PjBL learning on students' critical thinking abilities, supported by the analysis showing a moderate increase in students' critical thinking abilities. Additionally, based on mapping students' thinking systems, there is an increase in thinking system 2 by 56 answers. Moreover, thinking system 2 is nearly equivalent to thinking system 1 except in reasoning. In the fourth question and other aspects of critical thinking abilities, thinking system 2 is comparable to thinking system 1 and even more dominant in question number 3. This demonstrates an enhancement in students' critical thinking abilities after STEM project-based learning. This research provides new insights into the development of student's critical thinking skills, which can be beneficial for curriculum development and teaching practices in the STEM education field.

Abstract

Light diffraction, characterized by the spreading or bending of waves when encountering narrow obstacles, forms the focal point of this research endeavor. Utilizing the circular diffraction method, this study pioneers the identification of the He-Ne laser wavelength through experimentation with both three and five-slit diaphragms. The investigation with a three-slit diaphragm involves three variations in slit distances: d = 0.125 mm, 0.25 mm, and 0.5 mm at a screen distance of 150 nm, revealing diffraction patterns across three orders of magnitude. For the five-slit diaphragm, the analysis extends to a slit distance of d = 0.25 nm and a layer distance of 320 nm. Interestingly, the results reveal that the wavelength spectrum of the He-Ne laser depends on the variation of the gap distance. Remarkably, a gap distance as minimal as 0.25 nm yields wavelengths within the range of 641 nm to 660.67 nm, highlighting the diffraction process's sensitivity to minute variations in experimental parameters. This groundbreaking research not only elucidates the intricate interplay between light diffraction and experimental configurations but also underscores the circular diffraction method's versatility in determining the fundamental properties of laser light. This study paves the way for advancements in optical instrumentation and characterization techniques by offering novel insights into wavelength determination methodologies. These findings have far-reaching implications across diverse scientific disciplines, including physics, materials science, and optical engineering, enhancing the precision and capability of optical measurement technologies.

Abstract

Indonesia is a developing country with a dense population, so the government carry on KB (Family Planning) program in which the targets are mostly women. Contraceptives are intended for women are birth control pills and IUD (Intra Uterine Device), whereas until now the contraceptive for men who are considered well-established are condom and vasectomy. Thus, the development of herbal medicine, which is cheap and affordable, makes it possible to be consumed in a long term with less meaningful side effects. Papaya seeds (Carica papaya) is one of the many plants used by communities to eradicate intestinal worms, menstrual laxative, and abortivum. Empirically papaya fruit, leaves, and seeds of papaya also contains carpaine, an alkaloid which is used as anthelmintic. Papaya seeds, which are edible and spicy in India are used for contraception. Alkaloid content in seeds of papaya can be antifertility herbal plants for males that can be measured from the quality of spermatozoa. Alkaloid compounds contained in papaya seeds can disrupt the hormone testosterone, which would interfere the sperm quality, making papaya seed potential to become a candidate for contraceptive.
