Abstract

Literasi sains dan sikap peduli lingkungan merupakan kompetensi esensial yang perlu dimiliki peserta didik dalam menghadapi permasalahan lingkungan global melalui pembelajaran biologi. Namun, praktik pembelajaran di sekolah belum sepenuhnya mampu mengembangkan kedua kompetensi tersebut secara optimal. Salah satu pendekatan yang berpotensi meningkatkan literasi sains dan sikap peduli lingkungan adalah pendekatan STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penerapan pendekatan STEAM dalam pembelajaran Biologi terhadap literasi sains dan sikap peduli lingkungan peserta didik kelas X SMA. Penelitian menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan populasi seluruh peserta didik kelas X SMA Negeri 3 Bandar Lampung. Sampel ditentukan melalui teknik cluster random sampling, dengan kelas X.4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X.5 sebagai kelas kontrol, masing-masing berjumlah 30 peserta didik. Data kuantitatif diperoleh melalui tes literasi sains dan angket sikap peduli lingkungan, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji independent sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan STEAM berpengaruh terhadap literasi sains dan sikap peduli lingkungan dari peserta didik (p < 0,05).

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis yang disertai dengan tingginya anxienty yang ada dalam diri peserta didik menjadi salah satu faktor penghambat terbesar dalam proses pembelajaran. Pembelajaran yang efektif akan mampu mengubah kemampuan berpikir kritis menjadi tinggi dan mengurangi anxienty peserta didik melalui penggunaan model yang tepat oleh pendidik. Pemilihan model pembelajaran oleh pendidik menjadikan pusat kesuksesan seorang peserta didik dalam belajar, untuk menghasilkan hasil belajar yang lebih baik lagi. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Means Ends Analysis berbasis mind mapping terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan anxienty peserta didik kelas X pada mata pelajaran biologi di SMA YP Unila Bandar Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan weak eksperimental design dengan The One-Group Pretest-Postest Control Group Design dan teknik sampling yang dilakukan yaitu teknik acak kelas dengan perolehan penelitian di kelas (X MIPA 3, X MIPA 4, dan X MIPA 5). Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan telah diuji kevalidan yang menghasilkan 10 soal tes kemampuan berpikir kritis berupa essay, 30 pernyataan angket anxienty dan 30 pernyataan angket respon peserta didik. Analisis data menggunakan Uji Manova dengan perolehan nilai N-gain kemampuan berpikir kritis kelas X MIPA 3 sebesar 0,65, X MIPA 4 sebesar 0,70 dan X MIPA 5 sebesar 0,62, nilai G-gain anxienty kelas X MIPA 3 sebesar 0,97, X MIPA 4 sebesar 0,84 dan X MIPA 5 sebesar 0,97. Disimpulkan dengan perolehan nilai signifikasi 0,000 < 0,05 artinya bahwa adanya pengaruh model Means Ends Analysis berbasis mind mapping terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan anxienty peserta didik kelas X di SMA YP Unila Bandar Lampung.

Abstract

Salah satu kemampuan yang harus dimiliki anak untuk dapat belajar di abad ke-21 adalah literasi lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Awareness Training berbasis asesmen kinerja terhadap literasi lingkungan siswa kelas X biologi di SMA Gajah Mada Bandar Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Quasy Experimental Design dan bersifat kuantitatif. Strategi pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah cluster random sampling dari semua kelas. Pengumpulan data dilakukan sebanyak dua kali dengan menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa soal tes dan survei literasi lingkungan, baik untuk tes awal (pretest) maupun tes akhir (posttest). Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah Independent Samples Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan peningkatan signifikan sebesar 0,000 < 0,05, model pembelajaran Awareness Training berbasis asesmen kinerja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap literasi lingkungan siswa. Berdasarkan simpulan penelitian, model pembelajaran Awareness Training berbasis asesmen kinerja memberikan pengaruh terhadap literasi lingkungan siswa kelas X di SMA Gajah Mada Bandar Lampung.

Abstract

This study evaluates the Islam-oriented 9E Learning Cycle for enhancing scientific literacy and self-confidence in secondary school biology. Using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control-group design, two Grade X classes participated: the experimental class learned via the 9E model infused with Islamic values, while the control class received discovery learning. Data were collected through PISA aligned literacy tests and questionnaires, validated self-confidence scales, and observation sheets, all demonstrating reliability (Cronbach’s α > .70). Independent t-tests and correlation analyses showed that the experimental group achieved higher posttest scores and larger normalized gains in scientific literacy (N-gain = 0.70, high) and self-confidence (N-gain = 0.69, moderate). Explained-variance estimates indicated contributions of 17.3% to literacy and 14.8% to self-confidence. Findings suggest that integrating spiritual ethical dimensions within a structured inquiry cycle strengthens conceptual mastery and nurtures affective development, positioning the Islam oriented 9E model as a holistic pedagogical strategy for curriculum reform and teacher professional development in faith-based contexts. Menumbuhkan Literasi Sains dan Rasa Percaya Diri melalui Siklus Pembelajaran 9E Berorientasi Islam dalam Pendidikan Biologi ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini mengevaluasi efektivitas Learning Cycle 9E berorientasi Islam dalam meningkatkan literasi sains dan kepercayaan diri pada pembelajaran biologi di sekolah menengah. Dengan desain kuasi-eksperimental pretest–postest control grup design, kelas eksperimen belajar melalui model 9E yang orientasi nilai-nilai Islam, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan discovery learning. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes dan kuesioner literasi sains framwork PISA 2025, skala kepercayaan diri tervalidasi, serta lembar observasi; seluruh instrumen menunjukkan reliabilitas baik (Cronbach’s α > .70). Uji t independen dan analisis korelasi menunjukkan kelas eksperimen meraih skor pascates lebih tinggi dan gain ternormalisasi lebih besar pada literasi sains (N-gain = 0,70; tinggi) dan kepercayaan diri (N-gain = 0,69; sedang). Estimasi variasi yang dijelaskan mengindikasikan kontribusi 17,3% terhadap literasi dan 14,8% terhadap kepercayaan diri. Temuan ini menyiratkan bahwa integrasi dimensi spiritual etis dalam siklus inkuiri terstruktur memperkuat penguasaan konseptual sekaligus menumbuhkan aspek afektif, sehingga model 9E berorientasi Islam layak diposisikan sebagai strategi pedagogis holistik bagi reformasi kurikulum dan pengembangan profesional guru di konteks pendidikan berbasis keagamaan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the challenges and opportunities of integrating ChatGPT into Biology learning through a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and literature review, and were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that the use of ChatGPT as an instructional support tool has both positive and negative impacts. Students reported that it helped them understand complex biological concepts through simpler and more adaptive explanations. However, there is a tendency for students to become dependent on ChatGPT in completing assignments without engaging in independent analysis. Lecturers also highlighted concerns regarding academic integrity, such as plagiarism and the use of AI without proper attribution. Overall, ChatGPT has the potential to enhance learning if used purposefully and supported by adequate digital literacy. Its integration should be positioned as a pedagogical support tool rather than a substitute for teachers. Key challenges include technological dependency, academic ethical issues, and limited digital literacy. Continuous evaluation is necessary to maximize benefits and minimize risks in Biology education.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop an interactive e-module with hologram and text-to-speech technologies for teaching junior high school science, specifically the human excretory system, in grade VIII. Using an R&D approach based on the Borg and Gall model up to the 7th stage (problem identification, data collection, product design, design validation, product trials, and revision), the e-module was validated by six experts. The study involved students from SMPN 1 Bumi Ratu Nuban Lampung Tengah, including 10 students for small group trials and 30 students for field trials. The results showed that the e-module, with 82% validation from media experts, 92% from content experts, and 88% from language experts, was highly valid. Student trials also indicated that the e-module on animal tissue material was engaging, with a 78% rating in small group trials and 80% in field trials. This study offers a valuable contribution to enhancing education through innovative, technology-based learning media.

Abstract

Environmental degradation driven by low community awareness and limited sustainable practices poses a critical challenge for local development. This community engagement program aims to bridge the gap between environmental knowledge (eco-literacy) and practical action (eco-action) by empowering residents to innovate environmentally friendly products. Specifically, the program integrates eco-literacy training with hands-on technical skills in ecoprint production and the conversion of used cooking oil into eco-friendly candles. The activities, conducted in Paya Village, Pesawaran Regency, involved 60 participants, including fifth-grade elementary students, housewives, and village youth groups. A participatory action approach was implemented through three main stages: (1) socialization to enhance eco-literacy, (2) direct training on eco-product innovation, and (3) mentoring and evaluation of product quality and sustainability impact. The outcomes demonstrate a significant improvement in participants’ eco-literacy and technical competence in creating value-added eco-products, utilizing leaf and flower waste for ecoprint designs and used cooking oil for aromatic candles. Beyond waste reduction, the initiative fostered alternative income opportunities and reinforced intergenerational collaboration between youth and adults. The novelty of this program lies in its dual integration of eco-literacy education and product innovation through intergenerational learning, advancing previous community service models that typically focused on either environmental education or product-based empowerment. This approach highlights the transformative potential of linking environmental awareness with entrepreneurial sustainability and recommends replication in other community-based economic–ecological resilience programs.

Abstract

Project-based learning (PjBL) is a learning model that develops thinking and science process skills in problem-solving. Method using a quasi-experimental research design with a matching-only pretest-posttest control group design. The study population consisted of all 10th-grade students at Bandung State Senior High School, and the study used cluster random sampling. The research instrument used a creative thinking essay test and a scientific attitude questionnaire. The research analysis used a t-test and N-Gain. The results of the study indicate that project-based learning can significantly improve creative thinking compared to conventional learning (0.001 < 0.05). The process of determining fundamental questions and monitoring in project learning plays an important role in developing creative thinking ability. Another important thing in PjBL is providing feedback according to learning objectives when assessing results and evaluating experiences.  Scientific attitudes showed a low increase, thus showed insignificantly difference analysis (0.069 < 0.05). This is due to external factors such as personality, information, group affiliation, and the limitations of the assessment scale in the questionnaire. The further PjBL research challenges related to the use of scientific attitude instruments with a larger assessment scale, technology integration, multidisciplinary approach, developing science process skills, higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), and 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis literasi digital peserta didik melalui penerapan model Self Directed Learning berbantuan media audiovisual pada materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pre-test and post-test control group design. Sampel penelitian ditentukan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling, yang melibatkan dua kelas peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 24 Bandar Lampung, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dengan jumlah total 60 peserta didik. Kelas eksperimen diberikan perlakuan menggunakan model Self Directed Learning, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan model Discovery Learning. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket literasi digital yang mencakup empat indikator, yaitu internet searching, hypertextual navigation, content evaluation, dan knowledge assembly. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis dengan independent sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan penerapan model Self Directed Learning terhadap literasi digital peserta didik dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05, serta peningkatan yang lebih tinggi pada kelas eksperimen dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Hasil nilai rata-rata posttest pada kelas eksperimen yaitu sebesar 86,25% sedangkan nilai rata-rata pretest yaitu sebesar 65.97%. Penelitian ini terbatas pada satu sekolah sehingga generalisasi hasil masih terbatas. Implikasi penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model Self Directed Learning berbantuan media audiovisual dapat digunakan sebagai strategi pembelajaran inovatif untuk meningkatkan literasi digital, peserta didik. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan pembelajaran berbasis Self Directed Learning yang terintegrasi dengan media audiovisual dalam konteks pembelajaran biologi.

Abstract

Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) are crucial for 21st-century students to face global challenges and solve complex problems. However, high school biology learning is still dominated by lectures and conventional textbooks. Students often memorize concepts without understanding their applications, while local wisdom such as the Pangan Balak Lampung tradition has not been utilized as a learning resource. The use of interactive ethnoscience-based e-books has the potential to connect scientific concepts with local culture and enhance learning motivation. This study aimed to develop an ethnoscience-based Biology E-Book (EBOBI) on the digestive system topic for Grade XI students using the 4D R&D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The research subjects included material, media, and language validators, biology teachers, and students from SMA Negeri 1 Punduh Pidada and SMA Negeri 2 Padang Cermin. Data were collected through validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and HOTS tests. Validation results showed excellent feasibility (material experts 90.3%, media experts 92.1%, and language experts 89.7%). Limited trials achieved a practicality score of 91.2%, while broader trials reached 93.5%, accompanied by positive responses from teachers and students. The average HOTS score of students was 82.4% (high category). Thus, the ethnoscience-based EBOBI is considered valid, practical, and effective as an innovative learning medium to improve students’ HOTS.
