Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the best concentration of urea in bioethanol fermentation from coconut water using Saccharomyces cerevisiae in increasing ethanol production. This research was done experimentally using four treatments and two replications. The combination of urea levels were U1 (without urea), U2 (0,2 g/l), U3 (0,4 g/l) and U4 (0,6 g/l). Observations were made every 24 hours for 3 days include ethanol production, sugar reduction and the number of cells microbes. Data obtained from the analysis descriptively using tabulation and graphs. The best treatment was found in U3 (urea 0,4 g/l) with the highest ethanol’s yield of 11,25%, reduction of residual sugar amount of 168,13 g/l and the number of cells/mL of 1,0x109 in the three day.   Keywords: bioethanol, coconut water, urea, fermentation

Abstract

Conducted research of biodiesel methyl ester of wastecooking oil and methanol with use of ash as a catalyst. This study was done to optimize the manufacture of biodiesel from used cooking oil. This study uses a completely randomized design with four treatments, T1 (Reaction tansesterifikasi 2 hours), T2 (transesterification reaction 3 hours), T3 (transesterification reaction 4 hours) and T4 (transesterification reaction 5 hours) with three replications. The data were analyzed using ANOVA, continued by DNMRT at 5% level. The results showed that the transesterification reaction time was significantly (P<0.05) influenced the acid number, total glycerol, viscosity, flash point and levels of methyl ester, but did not significantly affect (P>0.05) on the water content. The analysis has been carrried obtained the best treatment is T4 with the results said saponification (114,223 mg KOH/g), the acid value (0,495 mg KOH/g), total glycerol (0.137%), viscosity (3.376 cSt ), water content (0.002%), flash point (195.750°C) and the level of methyl ester (99.738%). Abstract

One of the government effort in accelerated development is believed to be done with maximum natural resource management, sustainable, and without any conflict. This 2800 ha of land conflict happened between rural citizen in sub regency Tapung Hulu and PTPN V Kebun Sei Kencana. The aim of this research is to find out information about social network and land conflict in rural communities in Senama Nenek vilage. This research is done within November 2015 until March 2016. Research method is using survey method and research sample for community leaders (12 people by census) and ordinary citizen (113 people by Snow Ball). The data that needed is primary and secondary data, the analysis used SPSS and UciNet program. The result showed that there are 12 actors involved in this conflict which are : 8 actors that maintain customary land (Ishk, Myya, Mkwr, Frds, Abms, Ahyn, dan Tmsn) and 4 actors uphold interests of the company (Abcn, Sprn, Sjls, dan Srdi).

Abstract

This research was aimed to get the best various additions of Agrobost which symbiotic microalgae Chlorellasp. in accelerating to reduce of pollutants level in palm oil mill effluent using the scale up experimenttechnology.  This research used Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 3 repetition.  This research used microalgae(with abundance ± 6,985,000 cfu/ml) and palm oil mill effluent with 5 treatments of Agrobost (0% v/v, 4% v/v, 8% v/v, 12% v/v and 16% v/v).  The data were obtained from statistical analytic using ANOVA and DNMRT in 5% level.  The results showed that the concentration of Agrobost had significant affects for nitrate and phosphate.  The selected treatment was 16% v/v addition Agrobost with the highest reduction level had nitrate of 3.40 mg.L-1 and phosphate of 8.18 mg.L-1. Keywords:palm oil mill effluent, Agrobost, microalgae Chlorella sp., scale up

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify the coffee supply chain, value added analysis received by the supply chain actors, and arrange alternative strategies by evaluating the internal and external factors to determine strategic priorities for CV Kiniko development. This study used descriptive quantitative and qualitative method. Descriptive qualitative used to describe the coffee supply chain using Vorst’s framework for chain design and set alternative strategies for CV Kiniko development by the internal factors evaluation and external factors evaluation matrix using SWOT analysis and rating the strategic priorities for CV Kiniko development using analytical hierarchy process (AHP). Descriptive quantitative used for measuring value added using Hayami method. The coffee supply chain started from the coffee farmers, coffee middleman, CV Kiniko, distributor and sales. The value added ratio of the actors as follow: coffee farmers 32% (medium value added ratio category), coffee middleman 4% (low value added ratio category) and CV Kiniko 55% (high value added ratio category). The strategic priorities that CV Kiniko has to do to improve the value added is expand the marketing networks by using the development of technology and information (0.358). Keywords: coffee, supply chain, value added, SWOT, AHP

Abstract

This research aimed to study the characteristic of tofu produced by using young coconut shell liquid smoke as coagulant. This research was experimentally conducted with four treatments dan four replications. The treatment used in this study were AC0 (3% acetic acid), AC1 (1% liquid smoke + 2% acetic acid), AC2 (2% liquid smoke + 1% acetic acid), and AC3 (3% liquid smoke). The results showed that using of young coconut shell liquid smoke as coagulant of tofu significantly affected yield, number of bacteria, ash contents, water contents, protein contents, descriptive sensory test of colour, aroma, and texture, hedonic test of colour and aroma, and hedonic overall test. The selected treatment in this study was AC1 (1% liquid smoke + 2% acetic acid). The tofu had 163.90%yield, 5.4pH, 81.79%water content, 0.15% ash content, 14.30%protein content, and 5.8x105cfu.ml-1 number of bacteria. Sensory characteristic of tofu was white colour, tofu’s characteristical flavor and rather soft texture. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the flow of supply chain and added value of rubber and determined the priority of supply chain strategies at PT. Andalas Agrolestari. This study was conducted at PT. Andalas Agrolestari Kuantan Singingi District Riau Province. The research methods used were qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive. The respondents in this study consisted 3 farmers, 2 collectors, 3 employees of PT. Andalas Agrolestari, 2 civil servants of Agriculture Department, and Singingi sub-district head. This research showed the supply chain of rubber at PT. Andalas Agrolestari in Kuantan Singingi included farmers, collectors, PT. Andalas Agrolestari to consumers. Value added farmer was 1,037 IDR and included in the value added ratio of 55% (high category), collector was 448 IDR with the value added ratio of  5% (low category), and PT Andalas Agrolestari was 4,223 IDR with the value added ratio of  30% (medium category). The internal factor evaluation matrix has a total score of 2.5440, while the external factor evaluation matrix has a total score of 2.4128. The results of the supply chain management strategyat PT. Andalas Agrolestari with the AHP method showed that the chosen quantity with the weight of 0.279 and the chosen main alternative is to expand thecrumb rubber’s marketing and maximize the absorption of raw material with the weight of 0.163.Keywords : Rubber, Supply Chain, Added Value, SWOT, Analytical Hierarchy Process

Abstract

Lempuk durian was a food processed durian fruit that has been popular among the urban community pekanbaru. The number of lempuk durianproducts circulating among the public and the market town of Pekanbaru create different characteristics of each others.This study was conducted to determine the position sensory attributes of the five types of lempuk durianproducts of consumer preferences. This research was done by using internal and external preference mapping. Samples of this study was five commercial products on the market in Pekanbaru. Sensory analysis was done using hedonic and descriptive test involving students of Riau University as a sample of respondents. Sensory attributes were color, elasticity, oily, rancidity, durian aroma, caramel aroma, durian flavor, sweetness and caramel flavor. The results of hedonic test were analysed using Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering (AHC) and the result descriptive test were analysed using Principle Component Analysis (PCA). The conclusion of this research was the best of lempuk durianwas Asli Bengkalis.   Keywords: consumer passions, consumer mapping, sensory attributes, lempuk durian.

Abstract

This work aimed to analyze the physicochemical properties of cellulose from OPT used in the fabrication of CMF and evaluate the efficacy of the hydrogel CMF as an encapsulant for L. fermentum InaCC B1295 stored at room temperature and in the refrigerator. The Kjeldahl method was used to evaluate the protein content; the gravimetric method was used to determine OPT's ash, moisture, and fiber contents; the Soxhlet method was used to determine the fat content carbohydrates were computed using the difference method. The levels of holocellulose, lignin, and cellulose were also determined. Viability, acid and bile resistance of strain B1295 were evaluated at various temperatures for 35 days. The most abundant component of OPT fiber was cellulose, followed by hemicellulose and lignin. XRD examination revealed that OPT cellulose has a crystal index of 83.40%. FTIR analysis was used to detect the stretching vibrations of the –OH group on cellulose at 3419.03 cm-1. CMF hydrogel from OPT sustained L. fermentum InaCC B1295 survival for up to 28 days at room and refrigerated temperatures. At acidic conditions and in the presence of bile, the viability of L. fermentum InaCC B1295 was excellent, with a drop in cell population of less than 0.2 log CFU/g over 35 days at room and refrigerated temperatures. CMF obtained from OPT can be used as an encapsulant to maintain viability, acid resistance and bile of probiotics. Abstract

Kabupaten  Kepuluan  Meranti  merupakan  daerah  sentra  produksi  sagu  terbesar  di Propinsi Riau. Di kabupaten ini berkembang industri kecil pengolahan sagu menjadi makanan yang bernilai jual tinggi, seperti mie sagu, kerupuk sagu, aneka kue dengan bahan baku sagu. Gula sagu merupakan produk inovasi baru pemanfaatan sagu menjadi gula yang dikembangkan oleh masyarakat di Kabupaten Meranti. Kandungan kadar glucosa gula sagu kalorinya lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan gula tebu, walaupun rasanya tidak terlalu manis, gula sagu ini dapat menjadi gula alternatif yang sehat untuk para penderita diabetes. Selain itu pengembangan gula sagu dapat mensupply kebutuhan masyarakat akan gula, serta dapat mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap gula tebu impor. Sampai saat ini di Kota Pekanbaru sendiri, bahkan di Indonesia belum ada produk  gula sagu  sejenis yang sudah dipasarkan. Program Bina Desa dirancang selama tiga tahun dan tujuan pada Tahun I telah selesaikan dilaksanakan dengan menghasilkan hal sebagai berikut: Mitra telah mengetahui dan memahami cara membuat produk gula sagu dengan kualitas yang baik dan produk turunannya (minuman dengan bahan baku gula sagu).  Bantuan peralatan sebagai  bagian  paket  teknologi  pembuatan gula  sagu  dan  produk turunannya juga telah dilakukan. Hasil monitoring dengan mitra diketahui bahwa mitra telah membuat minuman dari gula sagu dengan aneka rasa (rasa yang banyak diminati mocca dan rasa buah) dan telah diperkenalkan pada masyarakat dengan menyuguhkan minuman tersebut pada saat ada kegiatan di kantor desa. Kegiatan lomba cita rasa minuman dengan bahan baku gula sagu yang dilakukan atas kerjasama tim bina desa dengan Pemda Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti telah  mampu  memunculkan  kreativitas  UKM  setempat  (mitra)  dalam  menghasil  produk minuman yang enak dan layak untuk dikomersilkan. Pada Tahun II ini kegiatan dilanjutkan tujuan sebagai berikut: (1) melakukan analisis kelayakan industri kecil gula sagu cair; (2) pengurusan izin atribut produk (Sertifikat Halal, Depkes dan BPPOM) supaya produk minuman gula sagu dapat dipasarkan ke pasar modern. Dukungan yang besar dari pemerintah setempat menjadi harapan besar bagi pengembangan produk gula sagu kedepannya untuk dapat menjadi usaha masyarakat Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti dalam rangka meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat setempat.
