Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of teacher leaders in improving the quality of education through the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia. The Merdeka Curriculum offers flexibility to teachers and schools to create a contextual and relevant learning process to students’ needs, with a focus on character building and strengthening non-academic skills. The study used a literature study method to examine relevant theories and previous findings. The results of the study indicate that teacher leaders act as agents of change who are able to facilitate educational innovation, improve the quality of learning, and strengthen collaboration between stakeholders. The main challenges in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum include limited infrastructure, teacher readiness in using technology, and students’ socio-economic factors. However, with policy support and collaboration between schools, parents, and communities, teacher leaders can play a crucial role in ensuring that educational transformation is effective. This study provides recommendations for stakeholders to strengthen the Teacher Leader program and increase the success of the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of implementing Internet of Things (IoT) technology in library services on students’ reading interest at SMA Ilir Timur 1 Palembang. IoT provides ease in accessing information through features such as automatic borrowing, preference-based recommendations, and real-time collection management. However, despite increasing accessibility, students’ reading interest is still relatively low, influenced by the dominance of digital entertainment. Literature review shows that IoT has great potential to improve library service efficiency and student engagement, but its impact on reading interest is not yet fully significant. Therefore, this study recommends the development of an IoT strategy that is more integrated with local needs and digital literacy training for students and teachers. With an inclusive and adaptive approach, the implementation of IoT is expected to support an increase in students’ reading interest evenly in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teacher competency at SD Negeri 147 Palembang through a qualitative case study. The teacher competency that is the focus of this study includes four main aspects: pedagogical, professional, personality, and social competency. Data were collected using two main techniques, namely in-depth interviews with the principal and questionnaires distributed to teachers. Interviews with the principal were used to obtain a general view of teacher performance and competency development strategies in schools, while questionnaires were designed to evaluate teachers’ perceptions of their respective competencies. The results of the study indicate that teachers at SD Negeri 147 Palembang have good competency, especially in personality and social aspects, which are reflected in the high level of discipline and effective communication with students and colleagues. However, improvements are still needed in the use of technology in learning and the application of more innovative teaching methods and strengthening communication with parents of students. These findings indicate that ongoing training is needed to improve the quality of teaching and professional skills of teachers at SD Negeri 147 Palembang. This study is expected to be a reference for policy making in efforts to improve teacher competency in public elementary schools in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Merdeka Mengajar Platform on the development of teacher competencies in junior high schools in Mesuji District. In the digital era, this platform is presented by the government to support improving the quality of learning and teacher professional development through access to teaching materials, learning evaluations, and independent training. This study uses a literature review approach by reviewing a number of national scientific articles related to the implementation and impact of the Merdeka Mengajar Platform on teacher pedagogical, professional, and digital competencies. This study found that the use of the Merdeka Mengajar platform significantly contributed to improving teacher pedagogical and professional competencies through the provision of curriculum-appropriate materials and technology skills training. The results of the study showed that teachers experienced increased skills in preparing learning plans based on the Merdeka curriculum, as well as increased competence in utilizing technology for a more effective and efficient learning process. The novelty of this study lies in the focus of the analysis of the impact of the platform on a specific area, namely Mesuji District, which previously received less attention in national research. The contribution of this study is to provide recommendations for policymakers and platform developers to continue to improve relevant features and content and for schools to encourage the use of this platform as an integral part of teacher professional development in the future.
