Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of students’ critical and reflective thinking skills on the topic of photoelectric effects. In this study, the cross-sectional survey approach was employed in conjunction with purposive sampling techniques.  The data collection instruments are questionnaires for critical thinking and reflective thinking skills, with 20 critical thinking items and 24 reflective thinking items. A total of 35 students, 6 males and 29 females, with an average age of 20 years, agreed to fill out the questionnaire that was distributed. The acquired quantitative data were evaluated using the Rasch model, with critical thinking skills showing that 11% of students were at a very low level, 49% were at a low level, 26% were at a high level, and 14% were at a very high level. Meanwhile, data analysis of reflective thinking skills revealed that 20% of pupils had low levels, 63% had moderate levels, and 17% had high levels. As a result, it is suggested that critical thinking and reflective thinking skills be continuously debriefed.

Abstract

Malaysia has many private’s hospitals. Thus, feedback is important to improve service quality, becoming reviews for other patients. Reviews use the channel service provided on social media, such as Twitter. Nevertheless, online reviews are unstructured and enormous in volume, which leads to difficulties in comparing private hospitals. In addition, no single websites compare private hospitals based on users’ interests, bilingual reviews, and less time-consuming. Due to that, this study aims to classify and visualize the Twitter sentiment analysis of private hospitals in Malaysia. The scope focuses on five factors: 1) administrative procedure, 2) cost, 3) communication, 4) expertise, and 5) service. Term frequency-inverse document frequency is used for text mining, information retrieval techniques, and the Naïve Bayes, a machine learning algorithm for the classification. The user can visualize the specified state’s private hospitals and compare them with any selected state. The system’s functionality and usability have been tested to ensure it meets the objectives. Functionality testing proved that the private hospital’s Twitter sentiment could be predicted based on the training and testing data as intended, with 77.13% and 77.96% accuracy for English and Bahasa Melayu, respectively, while the system usability scale based on the usability testing resulted in an average final score of 95.42%.

Abstract

This study aims to introduce question-based computational thinking to elementary school students. The background is the study that education in Indonesia needs to be improved in order to answer the global competition in the 21st century which is full of technological and information developments. In today's era everything is integrated with computers and technology, therefore it is necessary to be equipped with Computational Thinking which is believed to be able to train the brain to get used to thinking logically and structurally so that they are faster. Therefore, the development of Computational Thinking learning media was carried out by teaching using questions consisting of 4 categories and totaling 17 questions which were applied to the media. The media development model used was ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluate) with a sample of 6 students from grade 6 SDIT 'Alamy Subang. The results of this study indicate that: The instructional media has been evaluated and rated "Very Good" by experts with an average percentage of feasibility of 96.19%. Computational Thinking skills possessed by students vary and have different abilities in each question category and have different levels of difficulty according to the abilities possessed by each student. Students' responses to learning media are enabling students to learn new things and get an average percentage score of 87.11% and are included in the "Very Good" category.

Abstract

The use of hands-on activity-based mathematics learning media for mentally retarded children and cerebral palsy is largely unexplored. Meanwhile, observations of children with special needs (mental retardation and cerebral palsy) at school have not shown good basic math skills, such as counting, recognizing numbers, recognizing letters, performing math operations (for example, addition and subtraction). This study aims to develop a hands-on activity-based learning media model for mentally retarded children and cerebral palsy to improve understanding of mathematics in reading, writing, and arithmetic subjects. The method used is Research and Development, where the subject is the Special School in Bandung, Indonesia. The instruments used in this study were documentation, classroom observation, interviews, and tests of mathematical comprehension abilities. The results showed that a hands-on activity-based learning model could be used to improve basic math skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic for children with mental retardation and cerebral palsy.

Abstract

This study aims to test the reliability, validity and wright person-items of the test instrument. It used to measure students' cognitive system thinking in genetics lectures. This cognitive system dimension (New Marzano Taxonomy) consists of 4 levels: retrieval, comprehension, analysis, and knowledge utilization. The research method used was descriptive quantitative, with respondents as many as 116 undergraduate students who had attended genetics lectures. The instrument used consisted of 20 multiple-choice questions developed from 4 levels of the cognitive dimension of the system. Data analysis using the Rasch Model-Dichotom to generate more accurate estimates based on individual abilities and difficulty levels of question items. The results showed that the Alpha Cronbach and Item Reliability value on the instrument was 0.81 (Very Good) to 0.92 (Best). Furthermore, person reliability is 0.63 (Moderate). It can be concluded the interaction between the question items and the quality of the question items on the test instrument indicates that the instrument effectively assesses constructs and is relevant for measuring the level of cognitive system thinking. Revisions are made to items that are too easy or too difficult, as well as a review of items with similar difficulties. So it can be assessed that this test has the potential to be widely used in measuring cognitive ability, but some improvements are needed to further improve its reliability for other population.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a Data-to-Text system with input in the form of streaming data in batch form, to generate news in general. The development of a Data-to-Text system model is carried out by applying Machine Learning to overcome Streaming data, with the Piecewise Linear Approximation technique using the Least Square method. The developed system produces data summary information, current data information, and prediction information. System development is carried out in the R programming language by utilizing several available packages. The experiment was conducted by measuring the Readability level of the news raised, Computation Time, and comparing the results withrelated research. The experimental results show that the information produced is proven to represent the data provided and can be understood by the student level or above, and the computational time is quite good. The system can generate information based on meteorological data, climatological data, and financial data.
