Abstract

Data-Driven Decision Making (DDDM) has become one of the most relevant approaches in the era of digitalization. The purpose of this study is to identify the potential and challenges of implementing Data-Driven Decision Making in education management in East Kutai Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational descriptive design to analyze the application of Data-Driven Decision Making (DDDM) in education management in East Kutai Regency. This study shows that the implementation of Data-Driven Decision Making (DDDM) significantly increases the effectiveness of education management in East Kutai Regency, especially in overcoming disparities between urban and rural areas. Based on the data, the teacher-student ratio in urban areas is 1:25, while in rural areas it reaches 1:50, indicating the need for redistribution of educators to reduce the gap. In addition, computer access in urban areas reaches 65%, much higher than in rural areas which is only 25%. The availability of textbooks is also better in urban areas (80%) than in rural areas (50%), while parental participation in education is higher in urban areas (75%) than in rural areas (40%). This fact shows the importance of a data-driven approach to support a more equitable allocation of educational resources. The impact of DDDM implementation is also seen in a significant improvement in educational resource managemesnt.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain parental insight data on the management of gadgets through parenting carried out in the Anak Bangsa Kindergarten and to awaken parents’ education consciousness. The research uses Mixed Methods with an Explanatory Design. Starting from the quantitative method first in full both at the stage of data collection, data analysis and results, and then entering the mixed method, where the quantitative results of 14 respondents are needed for clarification in selecting participants or research subjects as many as 3 people. Enter the qualitative method, namely by collecting data, analyzing data, and results. Interpretation emphasizes quantitative results where qualitative results serve to explain and elaborate quantitative results. The results of the study show that the majority of parents of Anak Bangsa Kindergarten students are very familiar with the principles of education (44%), very well understood with the positives and negatives of gadget use (43%), very well understood with the concept of gadget management (81%), and very well understood with the application of gadget management (86%). Qualitatively, through in-depth interviews, it shows that they have a good understanding of parenting and gadget management and have implemented effective strategies and solutions from what they understand: understand the three domains of education; understand the positive and negative sides of gadget use; understand the concept of gadget management, and; understand in implementing gadget management. The study found that the consistency of understanding and actions of gadget management is paradoxical with the results of previous research, namely the inconsistency of parental understanding obtained from parenting the use of gadgets with their daily application. The conclusion of this research narrows down to one novelty, namely the idea that a combination of three sciences (psychology, sociology, pedagogy) is needed to become a frame in gadget management and to observe further and delve deeper into the phenomenon of consistency and inconsistency of parenting in gadget management.

Abstract

The use of SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis is a crucial tool in identifying and understanding the competitive position of a school. This research aims to describe the principal's strategy based on SWOT analysis in improving the quality of Muara Badak Integrated Islamic Elementary School. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method conducted through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research results using SWOT analysis show that SDIT (Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu, Integrated Islamic Elementary School) Muara Badak improves the quality of education by 1) utilizing internal strengths systematically through the principal's leadership, which involves teachers, committees, and parents in policymaking; 2) the foundation provides financial support and resources without operational intervention, while the committee and parents actively contribute to school funding and activities; 3) the principal addresses administrative weaknesses by focusing on learning outcomes using clear guidance books and postponing the use of risky technology; 4) the school also leverages its position as the only integrated Islamic school in the region by strengthening branding through social media and teachers' role modeling of Islamic values. The threat of a less strategic location is overcome by providing school shuttle services, increasing parents' trust and the number of registrants; 5) routine evaluations and strengthening teachers' spirituality through reciting activities and close collaboration between the foundation, committees, and parents are key to the success of continuous quality improvement. Research recommendations include conducting comparative studies to identify best practices by comparing SDIT Muara Badak with other schools and developing an implementation model for a SWOT-based quality improvement strategy that can be widely applied by considering each school's context

Abstract

The principal’s leadership strategy in building collaboration is a series of planned and structured steps taken by the principal to encourage, empower, and unite the school, parents, and the community to actively participate in the educational process at school. This study aims to identify and analyze the principal’s leadership strategies in building effective collaboration between the school, parents, and the community at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Muslimin Indonesia Center (MIC) Samarinda City. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that: (1) The principal implements adaptive and participatory leadership strategies, such as establishing open communication, holding regular meetings, and involving parents and the community in decision-making and school program implementation. (2) The obstacles and challenges faced include a lack of awareness and time from parents, minimal two-way communication, and limited community resources. (3) To overcome these obstacles, the principal conducts communication initiatives, designs attractive collaborative programs, and provides training for parents and the community to better understand their important role in education. (4) The principal also optimizes the role of parents and the community by empowering them in various school activities. The conclusion of this study is that effective and contextual leadership strategies have proven capable of building a solid partnership between the school, parents, and the community, thus contributing positively to improving the quality of learning and strengthening students’ character. Strong collaboration among these three parties is essential to support the improvement of education quality and the holistic development of students. However, the involvement of parents and the community in school activities remains low and is not yet optimally structured, thus requiring the active role of the principal as a leader and facilitator

Abstract

Writing ability is one of the basic competencies in Indonesian language learning that students must master. This skill is important as part of the learning process and as a means of developing thought patterns, creativity, and the ability to convey ideas logically and systematically. Among the various forms of text taught at the junior high school level, news text requires students to understand the structure of presenting factual information, use objective language, and follow journalistic rules. This study aims to determine the effect of the PjBL and TTW learning models on news text writing skills. This research is quantitative with an experimental method. The population in this study were all 96 seventh-grade students of SMPN 9 Bontang in the 2023/2024 academic year. The sample selection in this study used a purposive sampling technique and selected 64 students from class VII-B and class VII-C. Data analysis techniques used were the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test (normality), the Bartlett test (homogeneity) and for hypothesis testing using the t-test. Based on the results of data analysis techniques, it is known that the percentage of students' success with the implementation of PjBL in achieving the criteria for learning objectives is 54% and students with the implementation of TTW is only 46%. There is an influence of the PjBL and TTW learning models on the ability to write news texts.
