Abstract

Upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) are common in children and often trigger complications like ear infection that can affect hearing and development . This study aims to analyze the relationship between URTI and ear infections in children through a qualitative literature review . The findings suggest that URTI, particularly viral infection like nasopharyngitis , can disrupt the function of the Eustachian tube, increasing the risk of ear infections . Other risk factors , such as the child's age , air pollution , and exposure to second hand smoke , also worsen this condition . Raising parental awareness about early detection and management of URTI, along with preventive measures like vaccination and maintaining a healthy environment , can help reduce ear infection incidence .

Abstract

Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, has experienced an increase in need for innovative, data-driven marketing research given its fast economic expansion. Business strategy and decision making depend on this study as it let companies adjust to the specificities of local markets affected by socioeconomic, technological, and demographic variables. This study aims to assess the direction and breadth of the research as well as identify any knowledge gaps or underutilized studies in the field of marketing, especially in Indonesia. Bibliometrics is the technique utilized by means of data analysis drawn from the Scopus database in January 2024. Ratih Hurriyati of the Indonesian Education University, with 11 publications to her credit and 209 citations to her works, is the most active writer in this area. The results show the key trends in Indonesian marketing research. Apart from that, the "International Journal of Data and Network Science" is the most often published journal source with 36 papers altogether. Particularly in relation to the use of digital technology to improve consumer satisfaction and promote loyalty in innovative markets, these findings provide new ideas for policy development and more research. Marketing research done in Indonesia has a huge possibility to considerably add to the literature in the globe when one considers both local and global dynamics.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of leading sectors on regional economic growth in Makassar City during the 2015-2020 period. The leading sectors analyzed include the processing industry sector, wholesale and retail trade, and the tourism sector. This research uses quantitative methods with a descriptive approach and multiple linear regression to determine the relationship between leading sectors and economic growth. The data used in this research is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other related agencies in Makassar City. The results of the analysis show that the processing industry sector has a significant and positive influence on regional economic growth. The wholesale and retail trade sectors also show a positive contribution but are not statistically significant. Meanwhile, the tourism sector shows a significant positive influence on economic growth. Overall, this research finds that the development of certain leading sectors can encourage regional economic growth in Makassar City. Therefore, it is recommended that local governments continue to strengthen and develop these sectors through appropriate policies and investments. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of foreign investment on the development of natural resources (SDA) in Indonesia using a descriptive qualitative approach. Foreign investment plays an important role in driving economic growth through the provision of capital, technology, and job creation, especially in the mining, energy, and plantation sectors. However, behind its contribution, there are major challenges related to environmental sustainability, social inequality, and the dominance of control of natural resources by foreign parties. The data in this study were obtained through library research, document review, and analysis of relevant literature. The results of the study indicate that the development of natural resources involving foreign investment often does not fully prioritize the principles of social justice and ecological sustainability. Therefore, an active role is needed from the government, society, academics, and NGOs to ensure that foreign investment is not only economically profitable, but also fair and sustainable. This study recommends strengthening regulations, technology transfer, local community involvement, and increasing transparency in every process of natural resource investment.

Abstract

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasites, which are a primary cause of anemia. This review aims to analyze the correlation between Plasmodium species and the incidence of anemia through a literature review of studies conducted in Indonesia over the past five years. The results indicate that although both P. falciparum and P. vivax can cause anemia, a significant relationship between the Plasmodium species and the severity of anemia is not consistently found. This review emphasizes the importance of early monitoring of malaria infection to prevent hematological complications.

Abstract

Cuts are a common form of injury caused by trauma from sharp objects such as knives, razor blades, or other sharp objects. In Indonesia, traditional wound treatment is still widely used, one of which is by using Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides Linn), which is known to have the ability to stop bleeding and accelerate wound healing. In addition, wild honey from Apis dorsata bees also contains various active compounds that can be significant for the wound healing process. Data from Riskesdas (Riset Kesehatan Dasar - Basic Health Research) showed that the prevalence of cut/slash/stab wound cases in South Sulawesi in 2018 reached 27.76%, so an effective and natural alternative treatment is needed. This study aims to determine the content of phytochemical compounds in Bandotan leaf extract and wild honey; and compare their effectiveness on cut healing in mice (Mus musculus), both macroscopically and histologically. This study employed a quantitative experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The results show that Bandotan leaf extract contains alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and saponins; while wild honey contains flavonoids and saponins. Macroscopically, wild honey is more effective in accelerating wound healing than the other groups. However, microscopically, the Bandotan leaf group shows higher epidermal thickness. Complete re-epithelialization occurs in all groups, while keratinization does not only occur in the negative control group. In conclusion, wild honey is more clinically effective in accelerating wound healing, while Bandotan leaves show potential for tissue regeneration based on histology.

Abstract

This study employs a quantitative survey method with correlation analysis to investigate the influence of constructivist biology learning experiences, democratic attitudes, and learning independence on the learning motivation of high school students in Wajo Regency. The research utilizes Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for path analysis to determine the direct and indirect effects among the studied variables. The population comprises all high school students in Wajo Regency, with a sample of 274 students selected through simple random sampling from three schools: SMAN 1 Wajo, SMAN 3 Wajo, and SMAN 7 Wajo. Data were collected using four validated instruments: a 35-item constructivist biology learning experience questionnaire, a 30-item democratic attitude questionnaire, a 49-item learning independence questionnaire, and a 30-item learning motivation questionnaire. Descriptive analysis reveals that the average scores for constructivist learning experience, democratic attitudes, learning independence, and learning motivation are 66.16%, 67.56%, 70.79%, and 72.35%, respectively. SEM results show that constructivist biology learning experiences positively influence learning motivation (path coefficient = 0.228), as does learning independence (path coefficient = 0.430). In contrast, democratic attitudes exhibit a significant negative influence on learning motivation (path coefficient = -0.645). These findings highlight the critical role of active, student-centered learning approaches and learner autonomy in enhancing motivation. Interestingly, the negative correlation between democratic attitudes and learning motivation suggests a complex relationship that may reflect contextual or cultural factors specific to the student population. This study contributes to the field of educational psychology by emphasizing the effectiveness of constructivist pedagogical strategies and the promotion of student independence in motivating learners. The results provide practical implications for educators and policymakers seeking to improve motivation and learning outcomes through the design of more effective instructional practices.
