Metode CSE-UCLA (Center for the Study of Evaluation-University of California in Los Angeles) adalah model evaluasi yang dirancang untuk mengukur efektivitas dan efisiensi proses pendidikan. Abstract

The present study aims to examine the current practices, constraints, and potential enablers when assessing students' listening skills in Indonesian Islamic higher education EFL classrooms. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study research design. The selection of the participants used purposive sampling. The study used interviews as a data gathering technique, involving six EFL lecturers in one Indonesian Islamic higher education institution in South Sulawesi. The findings show participants’ awareness of the various alternative methods to assess students’ listening skills. However, their discussions tend to focus on what is easiest to use as opposed to what matters most for students’ listening skills. Furthermore, participants’ descriptions of EFL lecturers’ constraints in assessing listening skills encompass various educational aspects, which could be classified into resources and practical constraints. The former includes a lack of representative language laboratories and learning resources for conducting quality listening assessment practices. The latter relates to time constraints, auditory surroundings, and designing and developing listening assessment instruments. Therefore, the participants raised several key strategies to enhance quality listening assessment practices, ranging from resources to practical strategies. This includes a high quality and sufficient quantity of educational resources, the use of diverse and authentic assessment tasks, and more collaborative work to share best practices and experience in conducting quality listening assessment practices. These findings imply the need for reformulation of existing practices and policies related to foreign language assessment that could have significant impacts on EFL students, teachers, and classrooms.

Abstract

This article aims to evaluate the implementation of the PPL-MBKM program of the PAI study program of the University of Muhammadiyah Luwuk. This study uses a qualitative approach and a type of CIPP model evaluation research through descriptive analysis, data collection process through interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this study show that in the context aspect, the goals of PPL-MBKM have mostly referred to the curriculum structure and guidelines based on Core Competencies. In terms of input, it has been implemented according to the demands of the curriculum. At the process stage, it is in the category of quite good, because starting from the debriefing activities, to the competencies possessed by the DPL and the committee are in accordance with the standards. The evaluation at the product stage is in the medium category, because the condition of the interns is not optimal. However, overall the implementation of the PPL-MBKM program in the PAI Study Program of the University of Muhammadiyah Luwuk has been good, although there are still shortcomings that must be corrected. It can be concluded that the evaluation of the CIPP model can be used to make improvements as well as develop the implementation of the PPL-MBKM program in the next period.

Abstract

Numerous scholarly investigations have been conducted on English language assessment practices. Nevertheless, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the challenges and potential solutions related to implementing effective language assessment practices, particularly within Indonesian senior high schools. This study aims to investigate the perceived constraints and aspired prospective solutions associated with language assessment practices in Indonesian EFL classrooms. The data for this qualitative case study were collected by conducting in-depth interviews with fifteen EFL teachers from different senior high schools across South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Based on the thematic analysis of the data, this study revealed the perceived challenges to implementing English language assessment practices in three general categories: national policy-related issues, institution-related issues, and student-teacher-related issues. This study also revealed the need for leadership support to foster school culture support for innovative language assessment practices as the main aspired solution to implementing language assessment practices. These findings help improve understanding of the numerous factors that must be considered when putting English language assessment into practice, theoretically and practically.
