Abstract

Low production of breast milk in breastfeeding mothers is one of the factors causing the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in infants. One of the efforts to increase breast milk production is to provide food lactogenic formula. Indonesia has many local foodstuffs that can help facilitate breast milk production, one of which is the banana heart. Banana heart-based cookies are a form of food product development to improve product quality as an alternative food interlude for breastfeeding mothers rich in flavonoids. This study aims to determine the effect of wheat flour and banana heart flour formulations on organoleptic properties and total flavonoid levels. The research was experimental using a Complete Random Design (CRD) one factor; the balance of wheat flour and banana heart flour 25%:75%, 50%:50%, and 75%:25%. The quality testing of cookies was conducted by a hedonic test conducted by 30 trained panelists. The UV-Vis Spectrophotometric method analyzed the total flavonoid levels with AlCl3 reagents. The results showed an influence of the balance of wheat flour and banana heart flour on the taste, texture, and overall cookies (p<0.05). The most preferred cookies by panelists are cookies with wheat flour formula and banana heart flour 75%:25%. One serving of cookies is 52 grams or as many as four pieces. The total content of flavonoid cookies is based on the test results on the most preferred products at 36.92 ppm. Further research is needed to determine the effect of giving cookies on the production of breast milk intended as a snack for breastfeeding mothers.

Abstract

Glimepiride is a commonly prescribed oral antidiabetic drug for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, extensive simultaneous use of herbal plants increases the risk of notable interactions between herbs and drugs. This systematic review analyzed the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions between glimepiride and various medicinal plants, based on 20 selected studies published between 2014 and 2024. The results show that several herbs including Berberine hydrochloride, Licorice, Quercetin, Aloe vera, Ocimum sanctum, and Fenugreek can alter glimepiride’s metabolism, enhance its bioavailability, and increase insulin secretion, potentially amplifying its hypoglycemic effect. Although these interactions may improve therapeutic outcomes, they also increase the risk of hypoglycemia, indicating that careful monitoring and professional supervision are essential when using herbal supplements alongside glimepiride.  Keywords: Pharmacokinetic pharmacodynamics, glimepiride interaction, herbal plants.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease with a high prevalence that requires long-term therapeutic management. One of the biggest challenges in managing T2DM is the low level of patient adherence to medication, which can trigger serious complications and increase the economic burden on the healthcare system. Pharmacist counseling plays an important role in improving patient adherence through education, motivation, and support. This study aimed to analyze the effect of pharmacist counseling on medication adherence in T2DM outpatients using data from scientific journals published between 2019 and 2024, sourced from PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. A total of 10 articles were reviewed and selected based on the following inclusion criteria: studies focusing on pharmacist counseling and medication adherence in T2DM outpatients, published in English or Indonesian, and accessible in full text. The study found that various counseling interventions, such as face-to-face education, reminders via short message (SMS), and the use of informational guidance, significantly improved patient adherence, as measured by clinical parameters such as decreased HbA1c levels and improved quality of life. These findings suggest that pharmacist counseling can be an effective approach to improve the success of T2DM therapy while having a positive impact on patients' quality of life. Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, pharmacist counseling, patient compliance, HbA1c, Quality of life, pharmacy education.

Abstract

According to the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in Indonesia reached 1,017,290 people, increasing from 6.9% to 8.5%. Individuals with diabetes mellitus benefit from having a regular eating schedule, which helps synchronize the body’s insulin response. Snacks is important role in preventing drops in blood sugar levels. Cookies can be a suitable snack alternative. This research utilized local food ingredients, namely mocaf flour and red bean flour. The study aimed to determine the effect of mocaf flour and red bean flour formulation on the quality of "Mecaf Cookies," focusing on organoleptic properties and proximate nutritional value, including dietary fiber. The research design was experimental, using three different formulations: F1 (80% mocaf flour : 20% red bean flour), F2 (60% mocaf flour : 40% red bean flour), and F3 (50% mocaf flour : 50% red bean flour). The product name “Mecaf Cookies” is an acronym derived from its ingredients: mocaf and red bean flours. Organoleptic properties were evaluated using a hedonic test involving 36 semi-trained panelists. Statistical analysis using the Kruskal-Wallis test showed no significant difference in color (ρ > α, 0.127), while there were significant differences in aroma (ρ < α, 0.007), taste (ρ < α, 0.000), texture (ρ < α, 0.002), and overall acceptance (ρ < α, 0.000), followed by Mann-Whitney tests for further analysis. Proximate and dietary fiber analysis conducted at the SIG Laboratory in Jakarta showed that a serving of Mecaf Cookies (3 pieces or 45 grams) contains 225 kcal of energy, 3.6 grams of protein, 12.6 grams of fat, 28 grams of carbohydrates, and 5.9 mg of dietary fiber. Key words: diabetes mellitus, snack, cookies, mocaf flour, red bean flour

Abstract

Slope stability is a critical aspect in the planning and implementation of construction projects in contoured or sloped areas. One commonly used reinforcement method is soil nailing, which involves the passive installation of steel bars to increase slope resistance against lateral earth pressure. This study aims to analyze the effect of nail installation angle variation on slope stability parameters under two slope conditions, namely 27° , 35° and 45°. The simulation was carried out using PLAXIS 2D version 2024, with nail angles ranging from 10° to 90°. The parameters analyzed include safety factor, maximum horizontal deformation, horizontal effective stress, and bending moment in the nail elements. The simulation results show that lower installation angles, around 10° to 25° provide the most optimal performance in terms of safety improvement, reduced deformation, stable stress distribution, and efficient structural response. The steeper slope (35°) generally produced higher deformation, stress, and bending moment values compared to the 27° slope, indicating that steeper slopes impose greater internal loads on the reinforcement system.

Abstract

This study analyzes the phenomenon of vocabulary shift in Indonesian, which originates from three main elements: foreign languages, regional languages, and cognate languages. The focus of the study lies in the sociolinguistic relationship between the language-speaking community and this expansion. The research method uses a descriptive-qualitative approach with data drawn from various sources such as mass media, literature, and everyday conversation. The results of the analysis show that vocabulary expansion from foreign languages is often triggered by globalization and technological developments, while the expansion of the language itself reflects the language's creativity in responding to local cultural needs. On the other hand, contributions from cognate languages such as Malay appear more in the context of cultural and historical similarities. This study concludes that language expansion is influenced by social, cultural, and economic dynamics, while also demonstrating that language plays a role as a mirror of societal change. The study of changes in meaning shows that the development of Indonesian not only enriches vocabulary but also reflects the social, cultural, and technological dynamics in society.
