Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) transmission awareness is crucial for TB prevention in the community. However, efforts to prevent TB transmission from TB patients’ perspectives, especially in the rural area, are not well documented. This study aimed to explore the efforts made by TB patients in preventing transmission to the community. This research was qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Participants in this study were 12 people selected by purposive sampling. Data collection was done by in-depth interviews and recorded. Data analysis was carried out by thematic analysis. This study produced seven themes: perception of TB disease, performing alternative treatments, using personal protective equipment, environmental modification, adhering to treatment, limiting interactions with others, and increasing food intake. Knowledge and awareness of TB patients are still an issue in preventing the transmission of TB in the community. Immediate intervention needs to be made regarding increasing knowledge and awareness of TB patients and the supervision of health workers regularly in handling TB disease in the community.

Abstract

One of the physical changes during pregnancy is their breasts that usually get larger and heavier, the areola mammae becomes darker and the nipples get bigger. These conditions cause the breasts need to be treated in preparation for exclusive breastfeeding. However, in reality, there are many pregnant women who have not done much breast care due to their ignorance of its importance and lack of information. The aimed this study was to identify the effective of audio-visual and demonstration method for improving knowledge, attitude, and skills of breast care among pregnant women in Aceh. This study was used a pre-test post-test design with a control group (37 of pregnant women) and intervention group (36 of pregnant women). The intervention group was given health education about breast care using demonstration method, while the control group was given by watching videos. The instruments used in this study was a questionnaire about breast care and checklist to assess breast care skill. The instruments was developed based on the existing theory. Data was analyzed using t-independent test (p<0.05). There were significantly difference of knowledge (72.83 + 8.48 vs. 45.43 +12.06), attitudes (58.76 +6.20 vs. 46.83 + 4.58), and skill (73.74 + 7.98 vs. 56.17+ 10.62) of breast care between intervention and control group among pregnants women (P<0.001). Furthermore, the scores of knowledge, attitudes, and skills of breast care among pregnant women using demonstration (intervention groups) method were more higher compared pregnant women using audio-visual method (control groups). Health education using demonstration method is more effective for improving knowledge, attitudes, and skills of breast care among pregnant women than audio visual method. Therefore, demonstrations and re-demonstration using guideline should be implement for women with guidance during pregnant.

Abstract

Background: Problem - Based Learning (PBL) is a method of student-centered learning. In PBL, students become centered to the learning process, whereas the teacher is the center of learning in lecture-based learning (LBL). Purpose: This study aimed to compare the effects of PBL and LBL on students’ learning outcomes and satisfaction on an undergraduate nursing course. Methods: Quasi-experimental study. Participants included 161 students from two different classes of the course; in 2013, as a control group (n = 88) and in 2014 as an intervention group (n = 73). Both groups received LBL, which is practice in the lab and clinic, but the intervention group also received PBL. Secondary data analysis of students’ learning outcomes was measured using students’ learning progress in tests from lecture (theory, paper, laboratory, and clinical), while students’ satisfaction was measured using teaching method evaluation from students. Results: Students’ learning outcomes (theory, laboratory, and clinical) in the PBL group were significantly more than in the control group (p<0.001), whereas paper lesson outcomes were higher in control group compared to the intervention group (t=6.43; p<0.001; 95% CI=1.46-2.76). There was more satisfaction with the PBL method. There was no relationship between students’ satisfaction and learning outcomes (p>0.05). However, students considered greater satisfaction in PBL compared to LBL. Conclusions: In problem-based learning, students contributed a lot to solving the problem and getting the skills and knowledge they needed. Students are also expected to be motivated.

Abstract

Background: The completeness of patient information can help improve the patient service process. However, the application of the hospital management information systems (HMIS) is experiencing obstacles that affect user satisfaction. The end-user computing satisfaction (EUCS) method was developed for improvement of HMIS in accordance with the needs of user in the field of medical records.Purpose: To analyze the correlation satisfaction of HMIS and EUCS in hospital setting. Methods: Quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach was conducted among 105 healthcare providers at Graha Sehat Medika Hospital from June to July 2022. The EUCS questionnaires related to aspects of content, accuracy, format, timeliness, and ease of use were used to measure user satisfaction of HMIS. A Pearson Product Moment was used to analyze the correlation between HMIS and EUCS user satisfaction. Results: There was significant correlation between satisfaction of HMIS and components of EUCS (p= 0.001), including content (r= 0.705), accuracy (r= 0.651), format (r=0.538), timeliness (r= 0.706), and ease of use (r= 0.875). Furthermore, there were differences between ease to use of EUCS method and attending a computer course (10.93±2.66; p= 0.022) and gender (10.74±2.58; p= 0.007) of healthcare providers. Conclusion: The EUCS method is important for improving HMIS satisfaction. Therefore, training and socialization of EUCS should improve to maintain ease of use of computers to increase satisfaction of management systems in hospitals.

Abstract

Agro-nursing is an innovative approach to health care that integrates nursing science with a contextual understanding of agricultural conditions and rural life. Rural and remote areas in Indonesia often face challenges in accessing adequate health care. This article discusses the role of agro-nursing in addressing these challenges, highlighting how nurses can act as agents of change who provide health care and empower communities through approaches appropriate to local characteristics. By utilizing local potential, community culture, and agricultural systems as an integral part of rural life, agro-nursing strengthens health care promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative efforts. This study also highlights the importance of specialized training, cross-sector collaboration, and policy support to optimize the role of agro-nursing in improving the health of communities in remote and disadvantaged areas. It is hoped that agro-nursing can be a sustainable strategy for narrowing the gap in health services between urban and rural areas in Indonesia.
