Abstract

This study investigates the synthesis and characterization of Cu-Bi2O3 for degradation of antibiotics AMX, CIP, and TC using precipitation-assisted-microwave method at varying concentrations of Cu at 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%. The effect of Cu concentration on the structural, morphological, and optical properties were studied by XRD, UV-Vis, and SEM-EDX. The optimal results were obtained by adding 4% Cu to the Bi2O3 matrix. With an energy band gap of 2.32 eV, a crystal size of 37.04 nm, and ?-Bi2O3 and CuBi2O4 phases. The removal efficiency of each antibiotic using the photocatalytic method varies, with AMX at 52.06%, CIP at 61.72%, and TC at 69.44%. Cu-Bi2O3 degraded TC-type antibiotics more rapidly. The high removal efficiency and rapid reaction rate indicate that Cu-Bi2O3 is an effective antibiotic removal agent. This further confirms the fact that the addition of Cu to Bi2O3 material can increase its ability to degrade antibiotics more effective.

Abstract

Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) thin films have intriguing optical, photocatalytic, and electrical properties and have been investigated for various applications, including solar cells, biomaterials, corrosion-resistant materials, and gas sensor. In this study, TiO2 thin films were deposited on the surface of 316L Stainless Steel  to improve its mechanical properties as an implant material. The deposition method used was DC sputtering with variations in deposition times of 30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 minutes. Vickers hardness test and SEM-EDX characterization were carried out to determine the hardness value, elemental composition, and thickness of the TiO2 thin film formed. Based on these tests, it was discovered that the optimal hardness value of316L stainless Steel  material was attained at a deposition period of 90 minutes with a hardness value of 170.10 VHN, and the average thickness of the layer formed was ± 119.02 μm.

Abstract

Sebagai salah satu pelabuhan tersibuk dan terbesar di Indonesia, Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok memiliki peran strategis dalam mendukung perekonomian negara dengan arus lalu lintas pelayaran yang sangat padat. Namun, di balik perannya yang krusial, pelabuhan ini dihadapkan pada berbagai tantangan dan risiko yang ditimbulkan dari berbagai faktor. Berbagai risiko tersebut berpotensi untuk meningkatkan angka kecelakaan kapal dan dapat membawa dampak kerugian materil. Untuk itu, perlu antisipasi agar risiko kecelakaan dapat diminimalisir. Dalam hal ini, peran Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) menjadi sangat penting dalam meningkatkan keselamatan pelayaran di Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada kajian dalam efektivitas pemanfaatan VTS dalam meminimalisir potensi kecelakaan kapal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, dokumentasi, dan observasi untuk melakukan analisis SWOT dalam mempertimbangkan kekuatan (Strengths), kelemahan (Weaknesses), peluang (Opportunities), dan ancaman (Threats) yang dapat mempengaruhi kelangsungan dan kesuksesan pelayaran. Dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan, diketahui bahwa VTS memegang peran penting dalam pemantauan dan pengaturan lalu lintas kapal di sekitar Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok. Pemantauan aktif VTS memungkinkan pelacakan lalu lintas kapal, pencegahan tabrakan, dan manajemen efisien jalur pelayaran. Dari urgensi peran VTS tersebut, penggunaan teknologi dan sumber daya manusia perlu dioptimalkan agar keamanan dan keselamatan pelayaran dapat ditingkatkan.

Abstract

The lack of availability of clean water quantitatively is due to 97% of the water on earth is sea water, with a salt content of seawater of around 35000 mg/L causing the water to be unable to be used directly without prior treatment. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome the clean water crisis is through seawater desalination to produce water with low salinity. Several desalination methods that have existed are MSF (Multi Stage Flash Distillation) and Reverse Osmosis. But both of these methods have a high cost. Therefore, we need a method that is cheaper and easier to implement such as distillation. In this research, seawater desalination process uses the distillation method combined with a vacuum pump, electric stove and ultraviolet lamp. The use of a vacuum pump in the distillation system can speed up the evaporation process of seawater. Ultraviolet lamps function to degrade heavy metal pollutants and remove harmful bacteria. To maximize the performance of the tool, an electric stove with an automation system is added with solar panels as its energy source. Analysis of the tests carried out included the construction of the prototype, characterization and calibration of the LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) sensor and Arduino UNO microcontroller, total energy production and use, water production speed, and water quality. The results obtained include a prototype of seawater desalination. The characterization and calibration of the sensor in the automated system that the LDR sensor is running accurately, together with the Arduino UNO microcontroller, the LDR sensor can be an automation system that can make the prototype turn on and off automatically. The use of ultraviolet lamps shows that ultraviolet lamps have a photon energy of 3.0 eV and are able to work in visible light. The use of solar panels as an energy source can make an energy efficient prototype. This tool technology can increase water productivity up to 2 times and water quality shows a decrease in several pollutant parameters in distilled water including TDS (Total Dissolve Solid) of 99.7%, electrical conductivity of 99.987%, salinity of 99.93% , total coliform was 100%, and heavy metals Pb was 82.47%, Cd was 60.33%, Cu was 100%, Fe was 96.1%, Cr was 90.33%, and Zn was 98.9% , and the pH of seawater became neutral from 7.5 to 6.9. This prototype technology has the potential to be applied to the community.

Abstract

Nevirapine, a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), is a crucial component of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in HIV management. However, nevirapine carries a rare but potentially life-threatening risk of Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS). We reported a case of severe cutaneous manifestations of extensive necrolysis in an HIV-positive patient on the ARV nevirapine. This case highlights the importance of recognizing nevirapine-induced SJS, particularly in the early stages, to ensure prompt discontinuation of the drug and initiation of appropriate supportive care. Clinicians managing HIV patients on nevirapine-based ART should remain vigilant for early signs of SJS and maintain a high index of suspicion.

Abstract

Background: Zoonotic diseases are infections transmitted between animals and humans. Human life is closely intertwined with animals, as many people live alongside animals, consume animal meat, and so forth, which increases their exposure to zoonotic infections. Objectives: This study aims to assess the level of knowledge, perception, and attitude of health cadres toward zoonotic diseases in rural area of Malang Regency. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional approach with a sample size of 108 selected using simple random sampling in rural area of Malang Regency. Data were collected through a questionnaire, including respondent characteristics as well as predisposing, knowledge, perception, and attitude factors for zoonotic diseases. Data were analyzed using a chi-square test for bivariate analysis and a logistic regression test for multivariate analysis. Results: The average age of respondents was 48.1±14,3 years the majority graduating from elementary school (47.2%) and working as farmers (63.9%). The average knowledge score on zoonotic diseases was 8.0 ± 3.9, with 63.9% of respondents scoring below average. The average perception score was 13.4 ± 1.8, with 44.4% of respondents scoring below average. Additionally, 63.9% of respondents had below-average attitude scores (17.3±2,2). The level of education and occupation had a significant relationship with the level of knowledge, perception, and attitude of respondents. Conclusions: The results indicate that the knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes of respondents toward zoonotic diseases are still insufficient. There is a need for enhanced education in this disease to improve public understanding and facilitate early detection.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPeralatan infus medis seperti syringe pump dan infusion pump semakin banyak digunakan di rumah sakit dan fasilitas-fasilitas kesehatan. Kalibrasi peralatan tersebut sangat krusial dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi penyimpangan pengukuran dan menghindari kerugian klinis hingga mortalitas. Peralatan tersebut umumnya dikalibrasi dengan metode perbandingan terhadap Infusion Device Analyzer (IDA). Untuk memastikan ketertelusuran kalibrasi tersebut, IDA perlu dikalibrasi, salah satunya dengan metode gravimetrik. Namun, kendala terbesar dalam kalibrasi IDA adalah membangkitkan laju aliran rendah dengan keberulangan yang baik dan kepresisian tinggi. Pada penelitian ini telah dibangun sebuah sistem pembangkit laju aliran rendah fluida cair presisi tinggi menggunakan kendali PID lingkar tertutup dengan kecepatan motor DC sebagai feedback. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sistem dapat membangkitkan laju aliran pada rentang ukur 100 ml/jam kemudian turun ke 10 ml/jam. Ketidakpastian pengukuran yang diperoleh antara 0,06% pembacaan sampai 0,24% pembacaan, pada tingkat kepercayaan 95% dengan faktor cakupan k=2. Sistem yang dikembangkan layak digunakan dalam kalibrasi IDA.Kata Kunci: kalibrasi, peralatan infus medis, laju aliran rendah, kendali PID, ketidakpastian pengukuran ABSTRACTMedical infusion such as syringe pump and infusion pump are widely used in hospitals and health facilities. Calibration of the equipments are crucial in order to identify any measurement errors and to avoid clinical losses which may lead to mortality. The equipments are generally calibrated by an Infusion Device Analyzer (IDA). To ensure the traceability of the calibration results, IDA needs to be calibrated, one of which is by the gravimetric methods. However, the biggest problem in the calibration of IDA is generating low flow rates with good repeatability and high precision. In this research, the high-precision liquid low flow rate generator system has been built using a closed-loop PID control with DC motor speed as feedback. The results showed that the system was able to generate low flow rates at 100 ml/h then down to 10 ml/h. The uncertainty of calibrations range were from 0.06% to 0.24% of reading, at 95% confidence level with a coverage factor k=2. Hence, the system is suitable to be used in IDA calibration.Keywords: calibration, medical infusion, low flow rate, PID control, measurement uncertainty

Abstract

Pengecoran konstruksi beton volume besar dan tebal yang diklasifikasikan sebagai beton massa perlu perlakuan khusus, mulai dari proses persiapan dan pelaksanaan. Maksimum temperature puncak dibatasi sampai sebesar 70 ºC dan perbedaan temperature ≤ 20 ºC. Pada umumnya perbedaan suhu (lebih dari 20℃) diantara layer beton akan menyebabkan retak thermal. Pile cap pondasi Jembatan Pulau Balang Bentang Pendek termasuk jenis beton massa karena ukuran Ketebalan lebih dari 4 kaki atau 1,3 m (ACI,2010). Berdasarkan hasil analisa temperature puncak yang terjadi sebesar 78.860C melebihi temperature maksimum beton 700C, sehingga perlu dilakukan system pendingin beton pada pile cap. Sistem pendingin yang digunakan adalah metode penyiraman agregat dan pengaliran air melalui pipa-pipa didalam beton. Dari hasil pengamatan thermocouple, suhu dilapisan atas tertinggi yang terjadi mencapai 56 ºC, sedangkan suhu dilapisan tengah tertinggi mencapai 67ºC, dan suhu lapisan bawah adalah 61ºC. hal ini masih masuk dalam syarat maksimum temperature puncak sebesar 70 ºC dan perbedaan temperature ≤ 20 ºC

Abstract

Background: As a country with a large agricultural sector, using fertilizers is an essential factor. Inorganic fertilizers such as KNO3 are an option, but excessive use of fertilizers results in the accumulation of inorganic residues. The use of fertilizers that can release controlled nutrients is very necessary, one of which is by encapsulating with Graphene Oxide (GO). Methods: Coconut shell waste is used as the primary material for making GO which is synthesized by the Hummer method with variations in the mass of coconut shell graphite, the characterization of graphene oxide was Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). Findings: This research aims to synthesize GO and determine its characteristics as an encapsulation of KNO3 fertilizer. Conclusion: The FTIR results obtained in this research detected O-H bonds, C-H bonds, and C = C bonds. In TEM characterization, thin morphology results were obtained, indicating an oxidation process in the formation of graphene oxide. The AAS showed that the release of KNO3 from graphene oxide was maximum after 8 hours with a percentage of 93.8%. This fertilizer will be used to solve the problem of low plant absorption of macronutrients contained in fertilizers. Novelty/Originality of this article: Encapsulating KNO₃ fertilizer using GO to control nutrient release is a novel approach. This technique addresses the challenge of nutrient overuse and minimizes the environmental impact of inorganic fertilizers.

Abstract

Hate speech is characterized as a form of communication that expresses hostility or discontent towards particular individuals, groups, or ethnicities, with the intent to belittle one party. This research aims to examine hate speech expressions on Twitter, assessing their categorization as hate speech through the application of machine learning methodologies. The study incorporates feature engineering techniques, such as Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) and the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE), to mitigate challenges related to data imbalance. The machine learning models utilized include Logistic Regression (LR), Decision Tree (DT), Gradient Boosting (GB), and Random Forest (RF). Among these models, Logistic Regression (LR) demonstrated the highest efficacy, achieving an accuracy of 91.43%, precision of 88.83%, recall of 93.99%, and an F1 score of 97.10%.
