Abstract

The need for lightweight materials is increasing from year to year. In its application, lightweight and strong materials also need to be corrosion resistant. Corrosion resistance is an important property in automotive, especially in high humidity areas. Al6061-Sea sand material is a novel material that meets the mechanical standards required in the automotive sector. A previous study of Al 6061-sea sand conducted the mechanical properties of the composite. This current research focuses on the development of Al 6061 material with variations in weight fraction of sea sand reinforcement against the corrosion rate under the potentiodynamic method to determine the corrosion resistance of the composite material. The composite fabrication uses the electroless coating method on sea sand and the stir casting method with a melting temperature of 750°C. The agitation process used a four-bladed impeller for 10 minutes at 600 rpm with a stirring depth of ½ of the height of the molten metal. The tests include density testing, microstructure observation, and corrosion rate under the potentiodynamic method using an electrochemical potentiostat. The test result obtained the lowest corrosion rate results in 2% wt sea sand with a corrosion rate of 0.61875 mmpy. The increase in corrosion rate value is directly proportional to the addition of the weight fraction of sea sand.

Abstract

The epistemology of classical Islamic education through the integration of the concepts of ta'lim (education), 'aql (reason), and 'umrān (civilization) as a holistic paradigm in building a civilization-based education system. This qualitative study with a library research approach analyzes Ibn Khaldun's thoughts in Al-Muqaddimah and the classical Islamic epistemological framework based on revelation, reason, and empirical experience. The results show that the epistemology of classical Islamic education is hierarchical-integrative with revelation as the highest source that guides reason and experience. Ibn Khaldun positions ta'lim as a gradual process of forming reason, where educated reason (from the natural, experiential, to theoretical levels) becomes the foundation for the birth of civilized 'umrān. The integration of these three concepts produces an educational paradigm that balances intellectual, moral, and social dimensions, different from the modern dichotomous approach. Therefore, the epistemology of classical Islamic education through the ta'lim-'aql-'umrān framework is relevant to respond to the contemporary educational crisis characterized by the dichotomy of knowledge, the secularization of knowledge, and the weakening of adab. The implications of this research offer a theoretical foundation for the development of an Islamic education curriculum oriented towards the formation of civilized humans (al-insān al-kāmil) and the development of sustainable civilization.

Abstract

This study investigated how the metal impregnation method affects the oxidative desulfurization (ODS) of dibenzothiophene (DBT) using H2O2 over Ni–Cu catalysts supported on bamboo-derived activated carbon. Catalysts with 1% and 2% Ni–Cu were prepared via simultaneous impregnation, while the effect of sequence was evaluated by comparing simultaneous and sequential impregnation (2%Ni-2%Cu/AC and 2%Cu-2%Ni/AC). The 2%Ni-2%Cu/AC catalyst was identified as the best catalyst, with a surface area of 802.36 m2/g, average pore diameter of 2.4761 nm, and total acidity of 3.1239 mmol/g. This catalyst achieved the highest DBT reduction of 90.81% under optimal conditions (0.2 g catalyst weight, 60 minutes, 40 °C, and 0.66 mL H2O2), confirming that the sequential impregnation route significantly enhances catalytic performance. In conclusion, the impregnation sequence in designing highly efficient desulfurization catalysts is important due to spray impregnation resulting in higher surface area, acidity, and catalytic activity compared to the simultaneous impregnation method.

Abstract

Background: Fraud in financial reporting still appears in Indonesia’s energy industry, a field where complex operations often conceal early signs of misstatements. In many cases, day-to-day financial patterns reveal more dependable clues than the formal structure of corporate governance. Aim: The study examines how governance features and financial indicators contribute to identifying possible manipulation in financial statements and evaluates the predictive strength of logistic regression compared with Random Forest. Method: The analysis uses 171 firm-year observations from energy companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2022 and 2024. Potential irregularities were screened using the Beneish M-Score. Governance information covers the share of independent commissioners, CEO duality, board size, and board meeting frequency, while profitability, operating cash flow, and sales growth serve as the financial indicators. Both logistic regression and Random Forest were employed, and their performance was reviewed through accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and AUC values. Results: Governance variables showed no meaningful link to the likelihood of fraud. In contrast, profitability, operating cash flow, and sales growth consistently appeared as significant indicators. Logistic regression produced stronger classification results, reaching 79.4 percent accuracy with an AUC of 0.814, compared with Random Forest’s 70.6 percent accuracy and 0.731 AUC. Conclusion: Financial indicators proved more reliable than governance characteristics in signaling possible fraudulent reporting. Logistic regression also offered steadier predictive behavior than Random Forest, making it particularly useful for monitoring firms in the Indonesian energy sector.

Abstract

Aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) reinforced with industrial by-products have attracted attention as lightweight, sustainable materials, yet most research has focused on fly ash. The higher density of bottom ash compared to fly ash makes bottom ash suitable for use as reinforcement in AMC. This study investigates the combined effect of BA reinforcement (0, 3, and 6 wt%) and T6 heat treatment (aging at 175, 200, and 225 °C) on the microstructure, mechanical performance, thermal expansion, and dimensional stability of AA6061 composites. Mechanical testing, thermomechanical analysis (TMA), and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) evaluations were conducted to establish correlations between microstructure and macroscopic reliability. The results show that aging plays a decisive role in strengthening and stabilizing the alloy. The unreinforced AA6061 achieved peak hardness (69.43 BHN) and tensile strength (274.60 MPa) at 200 °C, but exhibited the largest distortion due to high thermal expansion. BA addition significantly reduced the mean coefficient of thermal expansion, with the 3 wt% BA composite aged at 200 °C demonstrating the most balanced behavior: stable CTE response, minimal distortion (0.1–0.4 mm²), and improved mechanical reliability. In contrast, 6 wt% BA composites, despite their lowest mean CTE (≈25 ppm/K), suffered from local instabilities due to particle agglomeration and porosity, leading to reduced toughness and higher geometric irregularities. Overall, this work highlights the novelty of employing BA as a sustainable reinforcement distinct from fly ash, showing that moderate BA addition coupled with optimized heat treatment can enhance dimensional stability and mechanical performance. The findings provide new insights into the design of cost-effective, environmentally friendly AMCs for structural applications.
