Abstract

Learning motivation is an essential factor that plays a role in increasing student involvement and success in the learning process, especially in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects. Low student motivation to learn requires learning innovations that are able to create an active and fun learning atmosphere. This study aims to analyze the influence of gamification-based cooperative learning using Wordwall media on students' learning motivation in the Qur'an and Hadith materials as a Guideline for Life. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi experimental post-test only control group design. The research sample amounted to 62 grade VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Martapura consisting of an experimental class and a control class. Data was collected using a learning motivation questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and Independent Samples T-Test. The results of the analysis showed a significance value of 0.022 (< 0.05), which indicated a significant difference in learning motivation between the two groups. Thus, gamification-based cooperative learning using Wordwall media has a positive effect on increasing student learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) instructional model on students’ learning motivation in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subject at SMP Negeri 3 Merbau Mataram. The research was prompted by the low level of students’ learning motivation, particularly in terms of learning drive and learning needs, which is attributed to conventional instructional practices that lack relevance to real-life contexts. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a post-test only control group. The participants consisted of students from Class VIII A as the experimental group and Class VIII B as the control group. The data collection instrument was a Guttman scale-based learning motivation questionnaire, which had undergone validity and reliability testing. Data prerequisite tests included normality and homogeneity analyses, confirming that the data met the assumptions of parametric statistics. Data were analyzed using a pooled variance t-test at a 0.05 significance level. The results revealed a significant difference in learning motivation between students who received CTL-based instruction and those taught through conventional methods, as indicated by a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.023 < 0.05. These findings affirm that the CTL approach effectively enhances students’ motivation in learning PAI by offering more meaningful learning experiences closely related to real-life situations. Therefore, the implementation of the CTL model in PAI instruction is highly recommended to strengthen students’ intrinsic motivation and deepen their understanding of religious values.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of integrating YouTube-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) to enhance students’ interest in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). A quasi-experimental post-test-only control group design was employed, involving tenth-grade students at SMK Geomatika Lampung, a vocational secondary school in Indonesia. Students’ learning interest was measured using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire, and the data were analyzed through normality, homogeneity, and independent samples t-tests. The findings revealed a statistically significant difference in learning interest between students taught using YouTube-based PjBL and those taught through conventional methods (p < 0.05). The integration of project-based learning with digital video media promoted active engagement, motivation, and positive affective responses in IRE learning. However, since the study was conducted in a single vocational school context, the findings should be interpreted cautiously and may not be generalized to all vocational secondary schools without further empirical validation. Future research involving broader and more diverse samples is recommended to strengthen generalizability.

Abstract

Indonesia has the highest biodiversity that places ecotourism as a sustainable development sector. The negative impact of ecotourism is the vulnerability to invasive plant species growth. They invade the habitat of the native plants and potentially alter the biodiversity balance. This invasive plant introduction is predicted caused by tourist and hiker visits. Therefore, the inventory of invasive plant species is urgently needed. The field survey was conducted on March 11-12, 2017 to inventory invasive plant species along the Panderman Mountain hiking track that common travelers explored and then identified. Species of Pinus Caribaea, Chromolaena odorata, Lantana camara, Leucaena leucocephala, Pennisetum purpureum are categorized invasive plants. Four species of plants otherwise potentially invasive include Calliandra calothrysus, Ageratum conyzoides, Bidens pilosa, and Acacia deccurens. The widespread access to protected environmental destinations leads to the spread of highly invasive species. The impact of invasive species depends on factors such as reproduction rate, vegetative phase, adaptability of seeds that can withstand adverse conditions and in particular human vectors as a way of spreading them. Keywords: Batu, Ecotourism, Hiking track, Invasive plants, Panderman Mountain.

Abstract

Increasing genetic diversity of porang through mutation is urgently needed since porang has low genetic diveristy. Therefore, this study aims to increase the genetic diversity of porang using ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) and analyze the genetic diversity of porang using RAPD markers. Porang explants were subjected to in vitro EMS induction at various concentrations (control, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4%, and 0.5%) and evaluated after 35 days. DNA amplification was carried out using 20 RAPD primers. Genetic diversity within and between porang populations was analyzed using POPGENE software, while cluster analysis was performed using PAST software to identify genetic diversity patterns. The results showed that EMS mutation induction effectively increased the genetic diversity of porang. Primers OPA-2 and OPA-9 were identified as the most effective primers for detecting genetic diversity resulting from mutation induction. The 0.2% EMS treatment is recommended because it produced the most notable genetic changes compared to the control and shows potential for generating superior mutants to support porang breeding programs.

Abstract

Students’ learning activeness is one of the important indicators of the success of the learning process. However, the results of a preliminary study conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Jayapura, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur, indicate that the level of students’ learning activeness is still not optimal, particularly in the aspect of independently seeking information. This condition is caused by the learning process that still tends to be teacher-centered, resulting in limited student involvement in learning activities. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model in improving students’ learning activeness in the subject of Islamic Religious Education. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a post-test-only control group design. The sample consisted of 57 students divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through observation and a learning activeness questionnaire. The results of the instrument testing indicate that most of the statement items were valid, with a Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.738, indicating a good level of reliability. The normality test using the Shapiro–Wilk test showed significance values of 0.126 for the experimental class and 0.776 for the control class (p > 0.05), indicating that the data were normally distributed, while the homogeneity test using Levene’s Test obtained a significance value of 0.061 (p > 0.05), indicating that the variances of the two groups were homogeneous. Furthermore, the results of the independent sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 with a t value of 7.406. Therefore, it can be concluded that the SSCS learning model is effective in improving students’ learning activeness in Islamic Religious Education learning at the senior high school level.
