Abstract

Nanocellulose is a type of cellulose that is being widely developed to replace petroleum-based polymers. This material possesses biocompatible properties, is abundant in nature, and is eco-friendly due to its biodegradability, sustainability, and non-toxic nature. Various nanocellulose synthesis methods are employed, including acid hydrolysis, alkaline, mechanical and biological treatments, as well as ionic liquid and deep eutectic solvent methods. The choice of synthesis method greatly influences the particle size and crystallinity of the resulting nanocellulose; hence further investigation is needed to determine the effectiveness of these methods. Nanocellulose finds applications in various fields, such as films, polymers, cosmetics, medical fuels, and energy storage. Among the different nanocellulose synthesis methods, ionic liquid and deep eutectic solvent (DES) methods have environmentally safe waste with better temperature, time, and diameter control compared to other methods. However, the DES method is currently preferred over the ionic liquid method due to the possibility of separating the lignin waste from the solvent.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to find the effect of budget deficit with foreign loans as source of funding on inflation and economic growth. This study focuses on transmission mechanism of budget deficit funding effects on inflation and economic growth. We use a specific simultaneous macroeconomic model which includes 17 behavioral equations and 18 identity equations with 6 blocks in this study, Two Stage least Square (TSLS) method is employed to estimate the behavioral equations in the model. This study use Indonesia secondary economic data from 1970 to 2003. Econometric tests are performed to produce BLUE estimator. This study also use stochastic simulation with 10.000 replications to simulate policy. The results show that using foreign loan to fund budget deficit increases both economic growth and inflation. This result is also supported by the simulation results which show that increase in the proceeds of new foreign loan increases reserves which in turn increase primary money/money supply/monetary base. Interaction of monetary base with money multiplier then increases price level. Increase in capital inflow from increase in foreign loan in reases government spending which also increases government spending. Increases in the government spending then add to government capital stock so that economic growth also increases.

Abstract

Scientific argumentation skills are essential competencies in 21st-century learning, which not only reflect students' critical and analytical thinking abilities, but also become the foundation for evidence-based decision-making. In the context of science learning, the integration of STEM approaches is believed to be able to strengthen students' ability to build and evaluate scientific arguments in more depth. This study aims to conduct a systematic literature review (SLR) on various STEM-based learning media and approaches used to improve students' argumentation skills. The review process was carried out by following the PRISMA 2020 protocol, including searching articles from reputable databases such as Scopus, SpringerLink, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. The inclusion criteria include articles published between 2015 to 2025, indexed by scopus Q1-Q4, explicitly mentioning argumentation skills, and being in the context of STEM education. Out of a total of 277 articles identified, 40 articles were selected for further analysis. The results of the study revealed that approaches such as argument-driven inquiry (ADI), project-based learning (PjBL), socioscientific issues (SSI), and engineering design process (EDP), have consistently proven to be effective in improving the quality of students' arguments. Learning media such as digital scaffolding, interactive simulations, argumentative worksheets, and argument mapping are widely used to support the critical thinking process and argument structuring. In addition, real-issue based learning and experimental activities show a positive impact on students' ability to structure claims, reasons, and evidence in a structured manner. This study makes an important contribution in directing the development of STEM learning designs that explicitly support the strengthening of scientific argumentation skills. The practical implications of this study include the need for teacher training, the integration of argumentation rubrics in assessments, as well as the development of adaptive digital learning media.

Abstract

Arenga palm flour–producing regions face significant challenges in managing solid waste, particularly in Daleman Village, Klaten, Central Java. Home-scale industries generate onggok aren, a cellulose-rich residue consisting of pulp and coarse fibers produced in large quantities. However, in practice, this waste is often discharged directly into rivers, contributing to water and environmental pollution. Most areas of Daleman Village are agricultural lands that typically require fertilizers to maintain soil fertility, which encourages further exploration of the potential use of onggok aren waste. One promising utilization is as a raw material for compost fertilizer that is both efficient and affordable. The composting process is carried out using a simple method with the aid of the EM4 bioactivator and molasses to accelerate the decomposition of organic materials. The activator mixture is applied in a specific ratio of 1 part EM4, 1 part molasses, and 10 parts water. Utilizing onggok aren waste as compost fertilizer not only addresses the issue of waste accumulation but also enhances the value of natural resources and reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers.

Abstract

Abstract. Currently, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technology is being interested in the Indonesian state as an advanced technology that can recover oil remaining in the reservoir. The discovery of new resources and EOR efforts are predicted to result in increased oil production. This paper provides a review of main types of EOR methods, which are gas injection, thermal injection, and chemical injection; mechanism of polymer flooding; and biopolymer materials for EOR, attention were given to xanthan gum, cellulose, guar gum, and lignin. Polymer flooding is a low-cost chemical injection method with a high rate of success. Polymer flooding has several advantages, including improving oil recovery by minimizing residual oil saturation, decreasing water output from oil well, and requiring less water compared with water flooding. Since the use of polymer flooding in the EOR activities, there is a lot of potential that biopolymers are materials that play a significant role in the application of EOR technology, because environmentally friendly properties and have advantages over synthetic polymers. Biopolymer can be modified to nano materials or grafted with synthetic polymer to improve its properties and stability. It have shear, salinity, and temperature resistance, long-term stability, and large availability, so it making the right choice for applications in oil recovery. Keywords:Enhanced oil recovery, EOR, biopolymer, polymer flood, modification of biopolymer
