Abstract

This research aims to test the effectiveness of using liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) from sap and pineapple water in controlling horn beetle pests (Oryctes rhinoceros) on oil palm plants in private plantations in Tandikat hamlet, Silangkitang. The approach used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatments, namely N0 (control), N1 (100% pineapple starch), N2 (500 grams of pineapple + 1 liter LOF of palm juice), and N3 (500 grams of pineapple + 2 liters of LOF sap water) each repeated four times. The parameters observed included the number of horn beetles caught and those that died. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the significance value of the treatment was <0.05, indicating that there was a real effect of the treatment on the number of horn beetles caught and killed. Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) further test indicated that the N0 treatment was significantly different from the N2 and other treatments. N2 treatment proved to be the best treatment, showing high effectiveness in controlling horn beetle pests. The conclusion of this research is that the use of LOF from pineapple and palm juice is significantly effective in controlling horn beetle pests on oil palm and is an environmentally friendly alternative to the use of chemical pesticides. Keywords: pests; horn beetles; liquid organic fertilizer; pineapple

Abstract

The primary pest of red chili plants is anthracnose disease. Anthracnose is caused by the fungus Colletotrichum sp. Anthracnose is controlled with synthetic fungicides, but their long-term usage can harm the environment by leaving residues in the soil that are difficult to degrade, causing environmental degradation and a severe impact on the health of human. The goal of this study was to see how much potential liquid smoke had as a natural fungicide in preventing Colletotrichum sp. growth. It is recognized that liquid smoke emitted by empty oil palm bunches includes antioxidant compounds that function as antifeedants, contact poisons, and stomach poisons against plant pests. These compounds have the ability to act as natural fungicides, preventing the rise of Colletotrichum sp. The pyrolysis process produces liquid smoke at temperatures ranging from 350°C to 450°C. Total phenol and total acid content are determined from the obtained liquid smoke. The total phenol a material was identified using the well diffusion method, and the findings were 12.57%. Meanwhile, the maximum total acid content was found in liquid smoke from pyrolysis at 450oC (38.4 mg/L) with a volume of liquid smoke produced of 790mL. The ideal liquid smoke concentrations for limiting the increasing number of Colletotrichum sp. fungus are 20% and 30%, with average values of 4.28 and 7.73 mm, respectively. With a very strong inhibitory response category.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of green accounting, material flow cost accounting (production cost, area size, production output), and environmental performance on sustainable development. The population of this study includes energy sector companies in the subsectors of oil, gas, coal, and palm oil listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2022-2024. Data were collected secondary through purposive sampling, resulting in 23 companies with 69 observations, based on certain criteria. The analysis methods include descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests (normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, and heteroscedasticity), multiple regression, coefficient of determination, and hypothesis tests t and F using Eviews. The results show that green accounting, production costs, and production output have an impact on sustainable development, while area size and environmental performance do not have an impact. This study is limited by the availability of data and the number of sample companies, as well as the subjective measurement of green accounting. It is recommended to expand the sample, use more objective measurements, and add variables such as green intellectual capital, environmental cost, and internal corporate governance strength for future research.

Abstract

Guava (Psidium guajava L.) is a tropical plant that holds significant popularity and economic value in Indonesia. Despite its benefits, many Indonesians still face challenges in successfully cultivating guava seeds. Traditionally, guavas are propagated from seeds, which often results in lower-quality fruit. Seed-grown trees may take longer to bear fruit, and the fruit produced may not resemble that of the parent plant. This study aims to evaluate the success rate of guava propagation using stem cuttings treated with two different chemicals—Root Up and Liquinox Start—as well as a natural alternative, shallot extract. The cuttings were treated uniformly across all treatments, and the growth parameters observed included the number of shoots, the number of leaves, and the length of the shoots over two months from April 20 to June 22, 2025. The results indicated a significant difference between the three treatments. Root Up treatment produced the longest shoot growth on average, while Liquinox Start also showed a relatively high rate of shoot development. Shallot extract, a natural alternative, also yielded promising results, offering an environmentally friendly and easily accessible option for guava propagation. While chemical treatments, such as Root Up, led to optimal results in terms of shoot, leaf, and shoot length development, the use of shallots demonstrates that natural ingredients can also provide a sustainable and effective approach to guava propagation. Based on the findings, Root Up is recommended for accelerating guava plant growth, but shallot extract presents a viable, eco-friendly alternative.

Abstract

Green mustard (Brassica juncea L.) is a popular vegetable among Indonesians across all social classes. It has high nutritional value and is rich in vitamins A, B, C, E, and K. This study aims to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) on the vegetative growth of green mustard (Brassica juncea L.). The research employed analysis of variance (ANOVA) for data analysis, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). If significant differences were found, further testing was conducted using the smallest real difference test. The results showed that treatment with 90 ml/L of LOF derived from bamboo leaf waste consistently produced the best growth results over three weeks of observation, with plant height reaching 21.00 cm, the number of leaves reaching 9.67, and the largest leaf width measuring 6.33 cm. These data indicate that applying 90 ml/l of bamboo leaf waste LOF significantly improves plant morphology and health compared to other treatments, suggesting that this treatment can be an effective strategy to increase the productivity of green mustard.
